Step 2: Remove the spacer hex from the #4 main cap.
Step 3: Remove center two (2) main bearing cap bolts on #3 main cap and remove one (1) center main bearing cap bolt from #4 main cap. Do not remove the stud.

Step 4: Replace the removed bolts with the bearing cap studs provided (3 places).
Step 5: Torque the studs to 30 ft./lbs. (40 NM) + 90°.

Step 9: Re-install the attaching bolts – M6 (2) to the oil pump, M8 (1) to space. Torque to 8 ft./lbs. (10 Nm) and 19 ft./lbs. (25 Nm) respectively.
What final checks should be performed after installing the FORD M-6687-D46?
Step 10: Rotate the crank and check for interference. While rotating the crank, check to make sure that proper clearance exists to avoid causing engine damage.
