How do I assemble the FESTO EASS-RS-T-A-4P-40-55-B7 rotary shaft seal?
Preparation
• Manufacture a press-fitted piece according to the drawing.
Assembly Steps
1. Position the motor upright on a flat and stable surface. Use lateral supports if necessary.
2. Remove the featherkey, if present.
3. Apply the specified amount of lubricating grease to the flange [A].
4. Apply a small amount of lubricating grease to the surface [B] of the sealing ring.
5. Push the rotary shaft seal on the shaft to the stop.
6. Position the press-fitted piece on the shaft.
7. Press the rotary shaft seal with the press-fitted piece firmly into the flange. The rotary shaft seal should be inserted fully into the flange.
8. Remove the press-fitted piece.
9. Fit the featherkey, if present.
After assembly, the rotary shaft seal should sit fully in the flange and the sealing rim should be undamaged.
When and how should the FESTO EASS-RS-T-A-4P-40-55-B7 be replaced?
1. Replace the rotary shaft seal in accordance with the operating conditions no later than after 5000 operating hours.
2. Every time the rotary shaft seal is replaced, use an additional shim with a thickness of 0.5 mm. The axial displacement from the shims prevents the sealing rim from running in the track of the old rotary shaft seal.
