EUROVEMO VOLARIS SMART (01) PDF SUMMARY:
What is the intended use of the rollator?
The rollator is designed to provide support while moving, serving as a walking aid for individuals with limited mobility. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The seat can be used for rest when the rollator is stationary. Volaris rollators are intended for adult use only. Alterations or customizations beyond those described in the User Guide are not permitted.
Who should not use the rollator?
The rollator should not be used by individuals who lack the strength to walk or stand while assisted by the rollator. It also should not be used by individuals who exceed the maximum weight indicated for each specific model.
What standards do Volaris rollators comply with?
Volaris rollators (SMART, Discover, and Patrol models) comply with Swedish standard SS-EN 11199-2:2021 (Assistive products for walking manipulated by both arms). Volaris is CE-marked and compliant with the requirements of the Medical Devices Ordinance MDR 2017/745.
What is the warranty period for Volaris rollators?
The warranty period is two years, covering materials and manufacturing defects. Wear parts such as wheels, brake components, and handles have a one-year warranty. The warranty assumes the product has been used as intended and in accordance with the user guide. The expected service life of the rollator is five years, provided it is used according to the instructions and undergoes regular maintenance.
What should I do if I have questions about the product?
Contact your dealer or Technical Aid Centre if you have any questions about the product and how to use it.
What should I be careful of when using the rollator?
Be careful when using the rollator to avoid any personal injury.
What is an important thing to remember in order to avoid damaging the product?
Read the instructions to avoid damaging the product.
What does the seat height adjustment entail?
Adjust one side at a time. Pull out the knob under the seat. Simultaneously, raise or lower the seat to the desired position. Release the knob, ensuring it locks properly to secure the seat in place. Repeat on the other side. Ensure the seat is level before using the rollator and press down on the center section of the seat.
What warnings should I be aware of when using the seat?
The rollator must be in park mode (the parking brake applied) when sitting on or getting up off the seat. Never walk with the rollator while someone is sitting on the seat. The seat must be flat, i.e. at the same height on both sides, when the rollator is folded up.
How should I walk when using the rollator?
Walk without bending forward, keep the rollator close to your body, keep your back straight, and look straight ahead.
How do I adjust the handle height?
Remove any profile clips. Adjust the height of the handles by pulling out the knob and adjusting the height. Make sure the parking brake lever is up, then adjust the height and check that the knob clicks back into place. After adjustment, check the brakes before using the rollator. Stand upright next to the rollator. The handles are at the correct height when your hands are level with them. You should feel comfortable when walking with your Volaris.
What should I know about the mechanical stop for maximum handle height?
The number of visible holes constitutes the marked height interval.
How do I unfold my Volaris rollator?
- Hold one of the push handles and tilt the rollator slightly to that side so the wheels on the opposite side just lift off the ground.
- Unfold the rollator using the grey lifting handle on the opposite side. A spring helps to unfold the rollator.
- Press down the centre section of the seat to lock the rollator.
- If the rollator is equipped with a folding catch, pull the strap and press down the centre section of the seat to lock the rollator.
How do I fold the rollator?
Remove any basket fitted. If a folding catch is installed, pull out the strap and then lift.
- Pull the strap.
- Lift the strap.
- Press the Smart together using the side handles.
The seat must be flat, i.e. at the same height on both sides, when the rollator is folded up.
How do I use the fixed transport strap?
If the rollator is equipped with a fixed transport strap, fold the rollator by securely pressing the transport strap to the button between the two seat height adjusters. This keeps the rollator folded. Release the button when you want to unfold the rollator.
How do I apply the parking brake?
The parking brake is applied by pushing the brake lever forward until it is horizontal and points straight forwards. The parking brake must not be applied when the brake or the handle height are being adjusted. The brake must be applied when you are sitting on the seat.
How do I release the parking brake?
The parking brake is released by moving the parking brake lever to the upright position until a click is heard.
How do I apply the service brake?
The service brake is applied by pulling up the brake lever located under the handle.
How do I adjust the brake for correct functionality?
Braking effect can be set using the cable adjuster located under the frame.
- Release the parking brake.
- Undo/loosen the nut using an 8mm spanner, and turn the threaded shaft.
- Screw in the threaded shaft to increase the braking effect. Screw out the threaded shaft to decrease the braking effect.
- Tighten the nut using a spanner.
The brake shoes should be set as close to the wear path as possible without actually touching it. If the shoes are set too close, the parking brake will be unnecessarily hard to apply.
How do I adjust the articulation brake effect?
Turn the knob to adjust the articulation brake effect.
What is the Comfort Frame?
Volaris rollators are built with a Comfort Frame™, which enables them to pass smoothly over uneven surfaces.
How do I use the “scissors technique?”
- Approach the obstruction at an angle.
- Apply the brake on the wheel closest to the obstruction.
- Tilt the rollator slightly backwards, so the front wheels lift up, swing the front wheels over the obstruction.
How do I pass over larger obstacles or mount a pavement edge?
Use the tilt peddles located by the rear wheels. Press down one of the peddles whilst simultaneously lifting the rollator by the handles.
What warning should I heed when going over an obstacle?
When going over an obstacle, do not lift the rollator by the seat as this could cause it to fold!
How do I clean the rollator?
Remove dirt using a wet cloth and a mild detergent. Ensure that dirt does not collect between the wheels and the brake shoes. The product can be rinsed using a high-pressure cleaner or garden hose. Wipe dry after cleaning. Blow away any residual water using compressed air.
What should I do when reconditioning the rollators?
Disengage the brakes when cleaning in a wash cabinet. The rollator must be allowed to cool to room temperature before being used and adjusted.
How do I lubricate the cables?
After cleaning, lubricate the brake cable under the frame by applying a few drops of oil to the cable.
What should I do if the rollator pulls to one side?
Check that the wheels rotate equally easily, that the wheel forks turn easily, that the wheels and forks are securely in position, and that no dirt or foreign objects have got stuck between the wheels and brake shoes.
What should I do if the brake does not engage, or engages unevenly?
Check that the play between brake head and wheel is 1 mm on both sides. Make sure that the brake cables are firmly attached to the brake shoes under the frame, that the spring on the rear wheel brake shoe is intact, and that the brake shoes apply even pressure to the wheels on both sides when the rollator is under braking. Adjust the cable.
