The EPSON L6190 printer requires careful handling of ink. Ink may splatter when the ink tanks are filled or refilled with ink. If ink gets on your clothes or belongings, it may not come off.

Do not open the ink bottle package until you are ready to fill the ink tank. The ink bottle is vacuum packed to maintain its reliability. Even if some ink bottles are dented, the quality and quantity of ink are guaranteed, and they can be used safely.

Do not connect a USB cable unless instructed to do so during the setup process.

Begin by removing all protective materials from the printer.

1. Open the ink tank unit cover.

2. Open the cap for the ink tank you are going to fill. Make sure the color of the ink tank matches the ink color you want to refill.

3. Remove the cap while keeping the ink bottle upright.

4. Position the top of the ink bottle along the slot in front of the filling port, and then stand the bottle slowly to insert it into the filling port.

5. The ink flow stops automatically when the ink level reaches the upper line. Do not squeeze the bottle. If ink does not start flowing, remove the bottle and reinsert it.

6. When the tank is full, remove the ink bottle and securely cover its cap. Store the bottle upright for later use.

7. Securely close the ink tank cap.

8. Repeat these steps for each ink color.

9. Close the ink tank unit cover.

Do not knock the ink bottle, otherwise the ink may leak. Do not leave the ink bottle inserted after filling, as the bottle may be damaged or ink may leak.

You should use the ink bottles that came with your product. The use of non-genuine ink may cause damage that is not covered by Epson’s warranties.

1. Connect the power cord to the printer and plug it in.

2. Hold down the power button until the lamp turns on.

3. On the control panel, select your language, country, and time.

4. When the message to see “Start Here” is displayed, press the indicated button for 3 seconds.

5. Confirm that the ink tanks are filled, and then tap “Done” on the screen to start charging the ink. This process takes about 10 minutes.

6. When ink charging is complete, the print quality adjustment screen is displayed. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform adjustments.

Load paper in the paper cassette with the printable side facing down. After loading, set the paper size and paper type on the control panel.

1. To start the Fax Setting Wizard, connect a phone cable to the printer’s LINE port and touch “Proceed” on the screen.

2. You can make the settings now or choose “Set Up Later”. These settings can be changed later.

3. If you want to share the same phone line as your telephone, remove the cap from the EXT. port and then connect the telephone to the EXT. port.

When you have finished making printer settings, refill the ink tanks with the rest of the ink from the bottles.

For Windows users with a CD drive, insert the CD and select option A or B. If a Firewall alert appears, allow access for Epson applications.

For Mac users or if your computer does not have a CD/DVD drive, you will need to download the software to start the setup process.

1. Open the document cover.

2. Place the original document on the scanner glass, and then close the cover.

3. On the control panel, select “Copy”.

4. Enter the number of copies.

5. Make other settings as necessary, such as Black & White or Color.

6. Select the start button to begin copying.

If you see missing segments or broken lines in your printouts, print a nozzle check pattern to check if the print head nozzles are clogged. See the User’s Guide for more details.

To confirm the actual ink remaining, visually check the ink levels in all of the printer’s tanks. If an ink level is below the lower line, you must refill the ink. Prolonged use of the product when the ink level is below the lower line could damage the product.

To refill, follow the ink filling instructions from the initial setup. After refilling the ink up to the upper line, follow the instructions on the LCD screen to select the color you refilled and reset the ink levels. If you reset the ink levels before refilling to the upper line, the ink level estimates may become incorrect.

1. Secure the print head with tape.

2. Close all covers securely.

3. Pack the printer in its box, using the protective materials. Keep the printer level as you transport it to prevent ink from leaking.

4. When transporting ink bottles, keep them upright with the cap tightened and place them in a bag to prevent leaks. Do not put ink bottles in the same box as the printer.

After you move the printer, remove the tape securing the print head. If you notice a decline in print quality, run a cleaning cycle or align the print head.
