Power and Water:

• Connect the mains plug to the mains socket only at the end of the installation process. Ensure the mains plug is accessible after installation.

• The operating water pressure at the water entry point must be between 0.5 bar (0.05 MPa) and 10 bar (1.0 MPa).

Loading and Operation:

• The maximum load is 10.5 kg. Do not exceed the maximum load of each programme.

• Wipe away any lint or packaging debris that has accumulated around the appliance.

• Do not run the appliance without filters. Clean the lint filter before or after each use.

• Items soiled with substances like vegetable or mineral oil, acetone, alcohol, petrol, etc., should be washed separately with extra detergent before being dried.

• Do not dry unwashed items in the washer dryer.

• Items like foam rubber, shower caps, waterproof textiles, and rubber-backed articles should not be dried in the washer dryer.

• Fabric softeners should be used as specified by the manufacturer’s instructions.

• Remove all objects from items that could be a source of fire ignition, such as lighters or matches.

• WARNING: Never stop the washer dryer before the end of the drying cycle unless all items are quickly removed and separated so that residual heat can dissipate. The final part of the cycle is a cool down period without heat.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Do not use high-pressure water sprays and/or steam to clean the appliance.

• Clean the appliance with a moist cloth using only neutral detergents. Do not use abrasive products, cleaning pads, solvents, or metal objects.

• Before any maintenance, deactivate the appliance and disconnect the mains plug from the socket.

Unpacking:

1. Remove the external film, using a cutter if necessary.

2. Remove the cardboard top and other packaging materials.

3. Remove the internal film.

4. Open the door, remove the piece from the door seal and all items from the drum.

5. Carefully put the appliance down on its rear side. WARNING: Wait about 6 hours before you use it to allow the compressor to work properly.

6. Put the front packaging element on the floor under the appliance, ensuring not to damage the hoses.

7. Remove the protection from the bottom.

8. Pull up the appliance into a vertical position.

9. Remove the power supply cable and drain hose from the hose holders.

10. Remove the three transit bolts.

11. Pull out the plastic spacers.

12. Put the plastic caps (found in the user manual bag) into the holes. It is recommended to keep the packaging and transit bolts for any future movement.

Positioning and Levelling:

1. Install the appliance on a flat, hard floor. Make sure carpets do not block air circulation below and that the appliance does not touch walls or other units.

2. Loosen or tighten the feet to adjust the level until the appliance is level and stable. Do not put cardboard or wood under the feet.

Water Inlet and Drainage:

1. Connect the water inlet hose to the back of the appliance if it’s not already installed.

2. Position the hose towards the left or right depending on the tap position. Ensure the hose is not in a vertical position.

3. Connect the water inlet hose to a cold water tap with a 3/4″ thread. The inlet water must not exceed 25°C.

4. Position the drain hose at a height between 60 cm and 100 cm from the floor. You can connect it to a sink spigot, a built-in drain pipe, or a stand pipe. Ensure the end of the hose is ventilated and not immersed in water.

Electrical Connection:

1. At the end of the installation, connect the mains plug to an earthed mains socket. The power supply cable must be easily accessible.

The display on your ELECTROLUX EW9W74X4R1 shows various indicators to provide information about the cycle status:

• Laundry weight indicator: Indicates the weight of the laundry.

• MAX: Maximum laundry indicator.

On/Off: Press for a few seconds to activate or deactivate the appliance.

Temperature: When you select a programme, a default temperature is proposed. Touch this button repeatedly to change to the desired temperature.

Spin: Touch repeatedly to decrease the spin speed. You can also select “Drain” (skips wash, rinse, and spin) or “Spin only” (skips wash and rinse).

Stains +/Prewash: Press repeatedly to activate one of two options. “Stains” adds an anti-stain phase for heavily soiled laundry (not available with temperatures below 40°C). “Prewash” adds a pre-wash phase at 30°C for heavily soiled laundry.

Delay start: Tap to delay the start of a programme from 30 minutes up to 20 hours.

Time Manager: Touch once to decrease the programme duration for normally or lightly soiled laundry. Touch twice for a smaller load to set an extra quick programme.

Time Drying: In programmes where it is selectable, touch this button to set a specific drying time in 5-minute increments.

Auto Drying: Touch this button to set one of 3 automatic dryness levels: Iron dry, Cupboard dry, or Extra dry.

Mode: Use this button to select the cycle type: “Only washing”, “Washing and drying”, or “Only drying”.

Start/Pause: Touch to start, pause, or interrupt a running programme.

Before using your ELECTROLUX EW9W74X4R1 for the first time, follow these steps to clean the drum and tub:

1. Make sure that all transit bolts have been removed.

2. Make sure that electrical power is available and the water tap is open.

3. Pour 2 litres of water into the detergent compartment marked for the wash phase. This activates the drain system.

4. Pour a small quantity of detergent into the same compartment.

5. Set and start a programme for cotton at the highest temperature without any laundry in the drum.

This initial cycle removes any possible dirt from the manufacturing process.

Starting a Wash Cycle:

1. Activate the appliance by pressing the On/Off button.

2. Load the laundry, one item at a time.

3. Fill the detergent and any additives into the correct compartments of the dispenser.

4. Turn the programme dial to the desired programme.

5. Select any desired options (e.g., Temperature, Spin).

6. Touch the Start/Pause button to begin the cycle. The SensiCare system will detect the load size and may adjust the programme duration after about 15 minutes.

Using the Drying Function:

1. Load the laundry and turn the programme dial to a suitable programme for the items.

2. Tap the “Mode” button. Tap once to set a washing and drying programme. Tap twice to perform drying only.

3. To use automatic drying, tap the “Auto Drying” button to select a dryness level (Iron, Cupboard, or Extra Dry).

4. To use timed drying, tap the “Time Drying” button repeatedly to set the desired duration.

5. Touch the Start/Pause button to begin.

Interrupting or Cancelling a Cycle:

• To interrupt a cycle and add garments, touch Start/Pause, open the door, add the items, close the door, and touch Start/Pause again.

• To cancel a running programme, press the On/Off button.

Regular cleaning extends the life of your ELECTROLUX EW9W74X4R1. Follow this schedule:

• After each cycle: Keep the door and detergent dispenser slightly open to allow air circulation and prevent humidity buildup. Clean the primary air filter.

• Every two months: Clean the door seal, clean the drum, clean the detergent dispenser, and remove any fluff from inside the drum.

• Once a month: Run a maintenance wash (a hot cotton cycle with a small amount of detergent and an empty drum).

• Twice a year: Descale the appliance, clean the drain pump filter, and clean the inlet hose and valve filters.

Cleaning Specific Parts:

Do not use water.

• Drain Pump Filter: Disconnect the appliance. Place a bowl below the drain pump access. Open the chute, turn the filter 180 degrees anti-clockwise to let water flow out. When the bowl is full, turn the filter back. Repeat until water stops flowing. Then, remove the filter completely, clean it under a tap, and reinsert it.

• Inlet Hose Filter: Close the water tap. Remove the inlet hose. Clean the filter in the hose with a stiff brush. Remove the hose from the back of the appliance and clean the valve filter with a stiff brush or towel.

In case of a power failure or malfunction where the door of the ELECTROLUX EW9W74X4R1 remains locked, you can open it using the emergency unlock function. Before starting, ensure the water temperature is not too high and the drum is not rotating.

1. Press the On/Off button to switch the appliance off.

2. Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket.

E91: Internal fail. No communication between electronic elements.	• The programme was not finished properly or the appliance stopped too early. Switch the appliance off and on again. • If the alarm code appears again, contact the Authorised Service Centre.
EH0: The mains supply is unstable.	Wait until the mains supply is stable.
