When you first get your DORO LEVA E21, you will need to set it up before use. Remember to remove any screen protector before you start.

1. Unbox your new phone:

The first step is to unbox the phone and check the items included. The items supplied may vary depending on your region or service provider.

2. Insert SIM card, memory card, and battery:

IMPORTANT! Turn off the phone and disconnect the charger before removing the battery cover. Be careful not to damage your fingernails.

– Remove the battery cover.

– Insert the nano-SIM (4FF) card by gently sliding it into the SIM card slot. The card’s contacts should face inwards. This device accepts a nano-SIM card or 4FF. Use of incompatible SIM cards may damage the device.

– You can optionally install a memory card (microSD, microSDHC, microSDXC, max 128 GB) to increase storage space. The contacts should face inwards.

– Insert the battery by sliding it into the compartment and then replace the battery cover.

3. Charge the phone:

We recommend fully charging the DORO LEVA E21 before first use. Connect the USB-C charging cable to the phone and a wall power outlet. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours.

When the battery is low, a low battery icon is displayed and a warning signal is heard. To charge your DORO LEVA E21, follow these steps:

Using a wall power outlet:

1. Connect the USB-C connector of the charging cable to the charging socket on the phone.

2. Put the other end of the charging cable into a charger that plugs into a wall power outlet.

Using an optional charging cradle:

1. Connect the USB-C connector of the charging cable to the cradle.

2. Place the phone in the cradle.

3. Put the other end of the charging cable into a charger that plugs into a wall power outlet.

The battery charge indicator will be animated while charging. When charging is complete, a full battery icon is displayed on the screen. It takes approximately 3 hours to fully charge the battery.

It is important to keep the USB-C port free from dust, debris, or moisture. A blocked port can result in connection issues, a damaged connector, or even a fire hazard. DO NOT use any metal or otherwise conductive object to clean the port.

You can clean the connector using:

• A cotton swab or toothpick. These items are soft and can fit into small spaces, making them less likely to cause physical damage.

• Compressed air or a syringe. The air from these items can loosen and pull out debris without inserting anything into the port.

1. Press and hold the End call/Power on/off button (red button) on the phone to turn it on or off.

2. To power off, press OK to confirm.

If the SIM card is protected with a PIN code, “PIN code:” will be displayed. Enter the PIN code and press OK. Delete incorrect entries with Clear.

If you enter the wrong PIN code too many times, the SIM card will be locked and you will need the PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) code to unlock it.

1. Enter the PUK code and press OK. Use Clear to delete entries.

2. Enter a new PIN code and press OK.

3. Re-enter the new PIN code and confirm with OK.

Note: If you were not provided with PIN and PUK codes, please contact your service provider. If you enter the wrong PUK code more than 10 times, the SIM card will be permanently locked.

You can navigate your DORO LEVA E21 using the navigation keys and OK button:

• Use the up/down/left/right Navigation keys to scroll and navigate through menus and lists.

• Use the OK button to open the Menu and to confirm actions or selections.

• The Left and Right selection buttons perform the actions shown above them on the display (e.g., Menu, Options, Back).

• The Back button (often the right selection button) returns to the previous screen.

• The End call/Power on/off button (red button) ends calls or returns you to the start screen (standby mode).

Enter text manually:

• Press a numerical key repeatedly until the desired character is shown. For example, press the ‘2’ key once for ‘A’, twice for ‘B’, and three times for ‘C’. Wait a moment before entering the next character. Press ‘Clear’ to erase characters.

Special characters:

1. Press the * key for a list of special characters.

2. Select the desired character using the Navigation keys and press OK to enter it.

Change input mode, case, and use predictive text:

• Press the # key to cycle between input modes: predictive text, sentence case, lower case, upper case, and numerals.

Enter text with predictive text:

When using predictive text mode, press each key only once for the letter you want. The phone’s dictionary will suggest words based on the keys you pressed.

1. For example, to write “Fred”, press 3 (DEF), 7 (PQRS), 3 (DEF), 3 (DEF).

2. Use the Navigation keys to view the suggested words.

3. Press OK to select a word, or press 0 to insert a space and continue.

You can press the # key to change the input mode on your DORO LEVA E21. The icons indicate the current mode:

You can connect your DORO LEVA E21 to a computer to transfer files like pictures.

Drag and drop content between the phone and a computer:

1. Connect your phone to a computer using a USB cable.

2. If a phone lock code is set, you may need to enter it and press OK.

3. Wait until the phone or memory card appears as external disks in your computer’s file explorer.

4. Drag and drop selected files between the phone and the computer.

To safely disconnect the USB cable:

1. On your computer, make sure to enable the hardware to be safely removed.

2. Disconnect the USB cable from the phone and computer.

Make a call:

1. Enter the phone number, including the area code. Use Clear to delete digits.

2. Press the Call button (green button) to make the call.

3. Press the End call button (red button) to end the call.

Tip: For international calls, press the * key twice to enter a + symbol before the country code.

Call from the phonebook:

1. Press the down navigation key or the dedicated contacts button to open the phonebook.

2. Scroll to the contact you want to call.

3. Press the Call button (green button) to dial.

Receive a call:

1. Open the phone (if it’s a flip model) and press the Call button (green button) to answer.

2. To reject a call, press the End call button (red button).

You can also set the phone to answer automatically when you open it via Menu > Settings > Calls > Answer mode.

During a call on your DORO LEVA E21, you can access several options:

• Mute: Press the Options button (left selection button) and select Mute to disable your microphone. Select Un-mute to re-enable it.

• Loudspeaker: Press the right softkey labeled ‘Speaker’ to activate the loudspeaker. Press it again to deactivate.

• Additional Functions (via Options button):

– Add call: Call another number to start a conference call.

– Merge calls/Split call conference: Merge two calls into one conference or split them.

– Swap: Switch between two active calls.

– Transfer: Merge two calls and then disconnect yourself.

– Hold call/Retrieve call: Put the current call on hold or retrieve it.

– End single call: End the currently active call.

– End all calls: End all current calls.

Received, missed, and dialed calls are saved in a combined call log.

1. From the standby screen, press the Call button (green button).

2. Alternatively, press OK > Call log.

3. Calls are displayed with icons indicating the call type:

4. Select an entry and press the Call button to dial, or press the Options button for more actions like viewing details, sending a message, adding to contacts, or deleting.

Add a new contact:

1. Press the dedicated contacts button or go to Menu > Contacts.

2. Press Options > Add contact and select where to save it (Phone or SIM).

3. You can set a picture for the contact.

4. Enter the Name, Mobile number, Home number, and Work number. You can also assign a specific ringtone.

5. Press Save.

Manage existing contacts:

1. Open the Contacts list.

2. Select a contact and press the Options button to see a list of actions:

– Edit: Modify the contact’s details.

– Search contact: Find a specific contact.

– Add to Top 10: Make this a favorite contact for quick access.

– Delete / Delete multiple: Remove one or more contacts.

– Copy contacts: Copy contacts between the phone and SIM memory.

– Send vCard: Share the contact’s information.

– Send message: Send a text to the contact.

– Speed dial contacts: Assign the contact to a number key (2-9) for speed dialing.

– Import/Export: Copy contacts to/from the phone’s internal memory or an SD card.

A Top 10 contact is one of the first 10 contacts listed in your phonebook for quick access. You can access them by pressing the star (★) button.

To add a contact to Top 10:

1. Press the star (★) button.

2. Select one of the empty entries and press Add.

3. Scroll through your phonebook to find the contact you want to add and press Select.

4. You may be asked to add a picture for the contact.

To edit or delete a Top 10 entry:

Select the existing entry, press the Options button, and choose Change or Remove.

ICE allows first responders to access important medical and contact information from your DORO LEVA E21 in an emergency. This information can be found at the beginning of your phonebook.

To set up your ICE information:

1. Go to Contacts and select ICE.

2. Press My details and select Edit to add or change your personal information:

– Name

– Address

– My number

– Birthday

– Language

3. Press My health and select Edit to add or change medical information:

– Condition (e.g., diabetic, pacemaker)

– Allergies

– Blood type

– Medication

– Doctor and phone number

4. Press ICE contacts and select Edit to add up to 2 emergency contacts from your phonebook.

5. Press Save when you are done with each section.

The Doro Secure Button on the back of your DORO LEVA E21 allows you to easily contact your predefined Responders for help. Make sure the function is activated and configured first.

To make an assistance call:

1. When help is needed, press and hold the Doro Secure button for 3 seconds, or press it twice within 1 second.

2. The assistance call begins after a 5-second delay, during which you can cancel a false alarm by pressing the End call button (red button).

3. An assistance text message (SMS) is sent to all your Responders (if activated).

4. The phone then calls the first Responder on the list. If the call is not answered within 25 seconds (default), the next number is called. This repeats 3 times or until the call is answered.

CAUTION: When an assistance call is activated, the phone is pre-set to loudspeaker mode, which can be very loud.

You need to configure the assistance settings before using the Doro Secure Button.

1. Activation:

Go to Menu > Assistance > Activation. Choose one of the following:

– On normal: Press and hold the button for 3 seconds or press twice within 1 second.

– On (3): Press the button 3 times within 1 second.

– Off: Disable the Doro Secure button.

2. Responders (Numbers List):

Go to Menu > Assistance > Responders. Press Add to add contacts from your phonebook or manually enter names/numbers. IMPORTANT: Always inform people that you have listed them as an assistance contact.

3. Assistance SMS:

Go to Menu > Assistance > Assistance SMS. Check ‘Send SMS’ to activate the message and write a custom alert message (e.g., “This is an alert message from John Smith.”).

4. Signal type:

Go to Menu > Assistance > Signal type. Choose between High (loud), Low, or Silent for the alert notification.

5. Dialling duration:

Go to Menu > Assistance > Dialling duration. Select how long the phone will dial one Responder before moving to the next.

1. Press the Message shortcut button or go to Menu > Messages > Write.

2. Press the add recipient icon and select a recipient from your contacts, or enter a number manually and press OK.

3. Go to the message field and write your message.

4. To add content for a picture message (MMS), press the Options button:

– Add picture: Add a photo from your gallery or take a new one.

– Add voice message: Add a recorded voice message.

– Add video: Add a video from your gallery or record a new one.

– Add subject: Add a subject line.

– Add contact: Attach a contact’s vCard.

– Add audio file: Attach an audio file from your library.

5. When done, press Send.

1. Go to Menu > Messages.

2. Select a folder: Inbox (received), Drafts (saved), Sent, or Outbox.

3. Select a message and press OK to open and read it.

4. When viewing a list of messages, press the Options button for more actions:

– Call: Call the sender.

– Details: View message details.

– Forward: Forward the message to someone else.

– Delete: Delete the individual message.

– Delete all: Delete all messages in the folder.

– Add to contacts: Save the sender’s number.

You can take photos and record videos using the camera.

1. Press the camera shortcut button to open the camera.

2. Use the up/down navigation keys to zoom in and out. Note that zoom may reduce picture quality.

3. For photos, press the OK button to take a picture.

4. For video recording, first switch to video mode via the options menu. Then press OK to start recording, OK again to pause, and the stop button to stop recording. Press Yes to save the recording.

5. Press the Options button for more settings, such as:

– Image viewer: View taken photos and videos.

– Flash: Set to Auto, On, or Off.

– Camera/Video camera: Switch between modes.

– Quality: Set the video quality level.

– Shutter sound: Turn on or off.

– Preferred storage: Choose to save to Phone memory or MemoryCard.

The alarm on the DORO LEVA E21 will work even if the phone is turned off.

To set a new alarm:

1. Go to Menu > Alarm.

2. Press Add alarm.

3. Select and set the different options:

– Set the alarm: On or Off.

– Set the time: Enter the alarm time.

– Repeat mode: Choose Once, Daily, or Working days.

– Set a name: Name your alarm.

– Select a ringtone: Choose an alarm sound.

4. Press Save.

To snooze or turn off an alarm:

When the alarm goes off, press OK to turn it off. Press the snooze button to silence it for 9 minutes.

To edit or delete an alarm:

Select the alarm from the list and press the Options button to Edit or Delete.

1. From the idle screen, press Menu > Torch.

2. Press OK to turn it on or off.

Tip: You can also long-press the 0 key to activate or deactivate the torch.

Note: The torch can drain the battery quickly and will switch off automatically after 5 minutes.

Calendar reminders will work even if the phone is turned off.

Add a calendar event:

1. Go to Menu > Organiser > Calendar.

2. Press the Options button and select New event.

3. Set the following options:

– Subject: Enter an event name.

– Set the date and time.

– Set the reminder ringtone.

– Repeat mode: Choose Once, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, or Off.

4. Press Save when done.

When a reminder goes off, press OK to turn it off or the snooze button to silence it.

To listen to the FM radio, you must connect a compatible headset, which works as the antenna.

Turning the radio on/off:

1. Connect a headset to the headset socket.

2. Go to Menu > Media > FM radio and press OK to turn the radio on.

3. The tuned frequency is displayed. Press the end call button to return to standby mode; the radio will continue to play. Disconnecting the headset will turn the radio off.

Radio options:

While the radio is on, press the Options button for more functions:

– Auto save channels: Automatically search for and save available radio stations.

– Channel list: View your saved channels.

– Save channel: Save the currently tuned frequency.

– Manual search: Manually enter a frequency.

– Speaker on: Play the radio through the phone’s loudspeaker.

You can reset either the settings or all content on your phone.

Reset settings:

This will reset all changes you have made to the phone settings back to their default values.

1. Go to Menu > Settings > General > Reset settings.

2. If set, enter the phone code and press OK to reset.

Reset all (Factory Reset):

This will delete all phone settings and content such as contacts, photos, number lists, and messages. The SIM card and memory card are not affected. Note: This action cannot be undone!

1. Go to Menu > Settings > General > Reset all.

2. If set, enter the phone code and press OK.

3. Press Yes to confirm and continue deleting all your personal information.

You can customize the display of your DORO LEVA E21 in the settings menu.

• Wallpaper: Go to Menu > Settings > Display > Wallpaper. Choose from static wallpapers or more pictures from your files.

• Brightness: Go to Menu > Settings > Display > Brightness. Adjust the brightness to a comfortable level and press OK. A brighter display consumes more battery.

• Backlight: Go to Menu > Settings > Display > Backlight. Select how long the display stays lit before turning off.

• Main menu: Go to Menu > Settings > Display > Main menu. Select Single or List style for the main menu.

• Font size: Go to Menu > Settings > Display > Font size. Select Normal or Big for the menu and message text.

• Theme: Go to Menu > Settings > Display > Theme. Select a theme to adjust the phone’s texts and background.

SIM PIN:

1. Go to Menu > Settings > Security > PIN.

2. Check ‘PIN’ to activate the PIN code, or uncheck to deactivate it. You will need to enter the PIN code each time the phone starts.

3. Select ‘Modify PIN’ to change your SIM PIN code.

Phone Lock:

The phone lock protects your phone from unwanted usage by requiring a code.

1. Go to Menu > Settings > Security > Phone lock.

2. Select a security setting:

– On: The phone locks after a short period of inactivity and each time it is turned on.

– On at startup: The phone locks each time it is turned on.

– Off: Deactivates the phone lock.

3. Select ‘Change phone code’ to set a new code.

Blacklist:

You can block numbers on a blacklist from calling or texting you.

1. Go to Menu > Settings > Security > Blacklist > Blacklist.

2. Press Options and select ‘New’ to add a number to the list.

3. Go to Blacklist settings to enable blocking for incoming calls (‘Audio call interception’) or incoming messages (‘Message interception’).

Whitelist:

You can set the phone to only accept calls from contacts saved in your phonebook.

1. Go to Menu > Settings > Security > Whitelist.

2. Press Activation and select ‘On’ to activate. Press OK to confirm.

Note: If the whitelist is enabled and there are no numbers in the phonebook, no calls can be received.

Call Divert (Call Forwarding):

You can divert incoming calls to another number or voicemail.

1. Go to Menu > Settings > Calls > Call divert.

2. Select a condition (e.g., ‘Call forwarding on busy’, ‘Call forwarding on no reply’).

3. Press Activate and select whether to divert to voicemail or enter a specific number.

Call Waiting:

This feature lets you handle more than one call at a time.

1. To activate, go to Menu > Settings > Calls > Call waiting and press Activate.

2. When you are on a call and another call comes in, you will hear an alert. Press the Call button (green button) to answer the second call; the first call will be put on hold automatically.

IMPORTANT: If you are not using Bluetooth, switch it off to save power. Do not pair with an unknown device.

1. Activate Bluetooth on your phone by going to Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > Activation and selecting On.

2. Make your phone visible by going to Bluetooth visibility and selecting On.

3. Go to Menu > Settings > Bluetooth > Paired device.

4. Press ‘Add new device’ and then OK to search for available devices.

5. Make sure the other device is in pairing mode and within range.

6. When the wanted device appears in the list, select it and press Pair to connect. You may need to enter a password or confirm a shared key.

It is recommended to check for software updates regularly to ensure optimal performance. You need a working data connection to perform the update.

1. Go to Menu > Settings > Software update.

2. Press ‘Check for update?’ and then Yes to see if an update is available.

3. If an update is found, you will be asked if you want to download it. Press Yes to download.

4. When the download has finished, press Yes to install the software update.

IMPORTANT: During an update, your phone will be temporarily out of service, even for emergency calls. Do not interrupt the process. The phone will restart automatically when complete, and you may need to enter your PIN and/or phone code.

5. Press OK to complete the update.

Your DORO LEVA E21 is a technically advanced product and should be treated with care.

• Protect the unit from moisture. If it gets wet, immediately power it off, remove the battery, and let it dry completely before replacing it.

• Do not use or keep the unit in dusty, dirty environments.

• Do not keep the unit in warm or cold places, as extreme temperatures can damage it.

• Do not try to open the unit other than as indicated in the manual.

• Do not drop or shake the unit roughly.

• Do not use harsh chemicals or detergents to clean the unit. Use a slightly damp, soft cloth.

• Do not insert any metal objects into any port on the device.

• When disconnecting a cable, pull the connector, not the cable itself.
