To protect your DELL SE2425H monitor from potential damage and to ensure your personal safety, follow these guidelines:

WARNING: Use of controls, adjustments, or procedures other than those specified in this documentation may result in exposure to shock, electrical hazards and/or mechanical hazards.

CAUTION: The possible long-term effect of listening to audio at high volume through the headphones (on monitor that support it) may damage your hearing ability.

• Place the monitor on a solid surface and handle it carefully. The screen is fragile and can be damaged if dropped or hit with a sharp object.

• Ensure that your monitor is electrically rated to operate with the AC power available in your location.

• Keep the monitor in room temperature. Excessive cold or hot conditions can have an adverse effect on the liquid crystal of the display.

• Connect the power cable from the monitor to a wall outlet that is near and accessible.

• Do not place and use the monitor on a wet surface or near water.

• Do not subject the monitor to severe vibration or high impact conditions. For example, do not place the monitor inside a car trunk.

• Unplug the monitor when it is going to be left unused for an extended period.

• To avoid electric shock, do not attempt to remove any cover or touch the inside of the monitor.

• Read these instructions carefully. Keep this document for future reference. Follow all warnings and instructions that are marked on the product.

• Certain monitors can be wall mounted using the VESA mount that is sold separately. Ensure to use the correct VESA specifications as mentioned in the wall mounting section of the User’s Guide.

1. Save and close all open files and exit all open applications.

2. Turn off your monitor.

3. Disconnect your monitor and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

4. Disconnect all attached network devices and peripherals, such as keyboard, mouse, and dock from your monitor.

CAUTION: To disconnect a network cable, first unplug the cable from your monitor and then unplug the cable from the network device.

5. Remove any media card and optical disc from your monitor, if applicable.

CAUTION: Leaving any loose or misplaced screws inside your monitor may severely damage it.

1. Replace all screws and ensure that no stray screws remain inside your monitor.

2. Connect any external devices, peripherals, or cables you removed before working on your monitor.

3. Replace any media cards, discs, or any other parts that you removed before working on your monitor.

4. Connect your monitor and all attached devices to their electrical outlets.

5. Turn on your monitor.

The bottom view of the DELL SE2425H monitor features the following ports:

1. Power port: To connect the monitor power cable.

2. HDMI port: Connect to your computer with the HDMI cable.

3. VGA port: Connect to your computer with the VGA cable.

WARNING: Before you begin, follow the Safety Instructions. Ensure the grounded power outlet is accessible and close to the equipment. To disconnect power, unplug the power cord by grasping the plug firmly, not by pulling the cord.

NOTE: Do not connect all cables to the computer simultaneously. It is recommended to route the cables through the cable-management slot before you connect them to the monitor. Dell monitors are designed to work optimally with Dell-supplied inbox cables.

To connect your monitor to the computer:

1. Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cable.

2. Connect either the VGA or HDMI cable from your monitor to the computer.

The following tools are recommended for the disassembly and reassembly of the DELL SE2425H:

• Phillips screwdriver #0

• Phillips screwdriver #2

• Nut driver 5 mm

• Plastic scribe

First, follow the procedure in “Before working inside your monitor.”

1. Tilt the stand downwards to access the release button.

2. Using a screwdriver, press the release button to pull the stand from the monitor.

3. Press the release tab on the bottom of the base to separate the stand base from the stand riser.

1. Attach the stand riser to the stand base.

2. Slide the stand into the slot on the back cover.

After installation, follow the procedure in “After working inside your monitor.”

Removing the VESA cover:

1. Follow the procedure in “Before working inside your monitor.”

2. Press the rift on the VESA cover to release it from the back of the monitor.

3. Lift the VESA cover away from the monitor.

Installing the VESA cover:

1. Attach the VESA cover onto the back cover.

Prerequisites:

1. Follow the procedure in “Before working inside your monitor.”

2. Remove the stand.

3. Remove the VESA cover.

Steps:

1. Remove the two screws (M4x10) that secure the back cover to the chassis assembly.

2. Remove the two screws (M4x4.5) that secure the back cover to the chassis assembly.

3. Using the plastic scribe, pry the back cover starting from the bottom edge of the monitor.

4. Lift and remove the back cover away from the monitor.

1. Place and snap the back cover into place on the chassis assembly.

NOTE: Align the screw holes on the back cover with the screw holes on the chassis assembly before applying slight pressure to the back cover.

2. Replace the four screws (M4x10) to secure the back cover to the monitor.

3. Replace the two screws (M4x4.5) to secure the back cover to the monitor.

Next steps: Install the VESA cover, install the stand, and follow the procedure in “After working inside your monitor.”

Removing the keypad board:

First, complete the prerequisites: work safely, remove the stand, VESA cover, and back cover.

1. Open the latch and disconnect the keypad cable from the connector on the interface board.

2. Remove the keypad board from the slot on the front bezel.

3. Peel the keypad cable off from the panel shielding.

Installing the keypad board:

1. Align and place the keypad board onto the front bezel.

2. Adhere the keypad cable on the panel shielding.

3. Connect the keypad cable to the connector on the interface board. Close the latch after connecting the keypad cable to the connector.

After installation, install the back cover, VESA cover, and stand, then follow the after-work procedures.

Removing the chassis assembly:

First, complete the prerequisites: work safely, remove the stand, VESA cover, back cover, and keypad board.

1. Remove the two screws (M3x4) that secure the chassis to the display panel.

2. Peel the tape at the bottom left corner of the monitor.

3. Disconnect the lightbar cable from the connector on the display panel.

4. Peel the two aluminum foils on the LVDS connector and chassis assembly.

5. Disconnect the LVDS cable from the connector on the display panel.

6. Remove the chassis assembly from the display panel.

Installing the chassis assembly:

1. Connect the LVDS cable to the connector on the display panel. And adhere the aluminum foil on the LVDS connector.

2. Replace two screws (M3x4) to secure chassis assembly to display panel.

3. Connect the lightbar cable to the panel and adhere the tape to cover the connector.

After installation, proceed to install the keypad board and other components.

Removing the interface board:

First, complete the prerequisites: work safely, remove the stand, VESA cover, back cover, keypad board, and chassis assembly.

1. Remove the two hex screws from the VGA port.

2. Peel the mylar from the chassis assembly.

3. Remove the four screws (M3x6) from the interface board and power board.

4. Remove the screw (M4x9) from the power board.

5. Remove the interface board and power board from the chassis.

6. Disconnect the power cable from the connector on the interface board.

7. Disconnect the LVDS cable from the connector on the interface board.

Installing the interface board:

1. Connect the LVDS cable to the connector on the interface board.

2. Connect the power cable to the connector on the interface board.

3. Assemble the interface board and power board to the chassis.

4. Replace the four screws (M3x6) to secure the interface board and power board with the chassis.

5. Replace the screw (M4x9) to secure the power board with the chassis.

6. Replace the two hex screws (#4-40×11.8) to secure the VGA port.

After installation, proceed to install the chassis assembly and other components.

Removing the power board:

First, complete the prerequisites: work safely, remove the stand, VESA cover, back cover, keypad board, chassis assembly, and interface board.

1. Disconnect the lightbar cable from the connector on the power board.

Installing the power board:

1. Connect the lightbar cable to the connector on the power board.

After installation, proceed to install the interface board, chassis assembly, and other components in reverse order of removal.

The self-test feature allows you to check if your DELL SE2425H monitor is functioning properly. If your monitor screen remains dark even when connected to your computer, follow these steps:

1. Turn off both your computer and the monitor.

2. Disconnect all video cables from the monitor. To ensure proper self-test operation, remove all digital cables from the back of the computer.

3. Turn on the monitor.

NOTE: A dialog box should appear on-screen (against a black background), if the monitor cannot sense a video signal and is working correctly. The message will indicate “No VGA Cable” or “No HDMI Cable” and that the display will go into Standby mode. While in self-test mode, the power LED remains white.

4. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on your computer and the monitor.

If your monitor screen remains blank after this procedure, check your video controller and computer, as your monitor is functioning properly.

The built-in diagnostic tool helps determine if a screen abnormality is an inherent problem with your monitor or with your computer and video card.

1. Ensure that the screen is clean (no dust particles on the surface of the screen).

2. Press and hold Button 4 for about 4 seconds and wait for a pop-up menu.

3. Use Button 1 or 2 to select the diagnostics icon and press the checkmark button to confirm.

4. A gray test pattern appears. Carefully inspect the screen for abnormalities.

5. Press Button 1 to change the test patterns.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to inspect the display in red, green, blue, black, white, and text screens.

7. When in a White color test screen, check for white color uniformity and if the white color appears greenish/reddish, so on.

8. Press Button 1 to end the diagnostic program.
