What are the most important safety precautions for using the DASH DIM813 Treat Maker System?
When using the DASH DIM813, basic safety precautions should always be followed:
• Read all instructions before use.
• Remove all bags and packaging from the appliance before use.
• Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
• Make sure the appliance is cleaned thoroughly before using.
• Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use. For household use only. Do not use outdoors.
• Only use the appliance on a stable, dry surface.
• Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas burner, hot electric burner, or in a heated oven.
• Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
• This appliance is not a toy. Do not let children use this appliance. Close supervision is necessary when any kitchen appliance is used by or near children.
• Refrain from using attachments that are not recommended by the appliance manufacturer, as this may result in fire, electric shock, or personal injury.
• Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord, damaged plug, after the appliance malfunctions, is dropped, or damaged in any manner.
How should I handle the hot surfaces of the DASH DIM813?
The surfaces of the DASH DIM813 get very hot during use. Follow these warnings to prevent injury:
• Warning: Hot surfaces! Never touch the Cooking Surface or Cover while the appliance is in use. Always lift and lower the Cover by the Handle.
• DO NOT lift the Cover so that your arm is over the Cooking Surface as it is hot and may cause injury. Lift from the side.
• DO NOT remove the Removable Plates until the Treat Maker has completely cooled. Failure to do so may result in injury.
• Do not use metal utensils on the Cooking Surface as this will damage the nonstick surface.
What are the electrical safety guidelines for the DASH DIM813?
To prevent the risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury, follow these guidelines:
• A short power supply cord is provided to reduce risks. If an extension cord is used, its marked electrical rating should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. The extension cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
• This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not completely fit in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
• Do not use the Treat Maker near water or other liquids, with wet hands, or while standing on a wet surface.
• Do not put the cord, plug, or appliance in or near water or other liquids. The Maker is NOT dishwasher safe.
• Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces or hang over the edge of tables or counters.
• Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool prior to moving, cleaning, storage, and when not in use. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.
• Warning: The Treat Maker will still heat up if plugged in without any Removable Plates in place. Always have the Removable Plates properly in place in the Maker before plugging it in.

What should I do before using my DASH DIM813 for the first time?
Before first use, remove all packaging materials and thoroughly clean the DASH DIM813 Treat Maker. Be sure to never touch the Removable Plates or Cover while the appliance is in use, and do not lift the cover with your arm positioned over the plates, as they are hot and can cause injury.
How do I use the DASH DIM813 Treat Maker?
1. Choose two Removable Plates. Each plate is labeled “Top” or “Bottom”. Slide each plate into its respective slot in the DASH DIM813, pushing down at the corner until you hear a slight click.
2. Place the appliance on a stable, dry surface and plug the cord into a power outlet. The Indicator Light will illuminate, signaling that the Treat Maker is heating up.
3. Once the Removable Plates reach the optimal cooking temperature, the Indicator Light will automatically shut off, indicating it’s ready to begin cooking.
4. Carefully lift the Cover by the Cover Handle and lightly grease both Removable Plates with a small amount of cooking oil. NOTE: It is recommended to avoid aerosol cooking sprays as they can cause nonstick surfaces to become sticky over time. Instead, use a silicone basting brush or a non-aerosol spray bottle.
5. Pour batter onto the bottom Removable Plate and close the Cover.
6. Once treats are cooked to your preference, carefully remove them from the bottom plate with a heat-resistant nylon or silicone cooking utensil. CAUTION: Do not use metal utensils, as this will damage the nonstick coating.
7. When finished cooking, unplug the DASH DIM813 and allow it to cool completely before moving, cleaning, or changing plates.
How do I remove the plates from the DASH DIM813?
To remove the Removable Plates, first ensure the DASH DIM813 is unplugged and has completely cooled. Then, press the corresponding Release Tabs on the side of the Handle. There are Release Tabs for the bottom plate and the top plate.
How do I use a piping bag to fill the mini donut plate on the DASH DIM813?
For best results when adding batter to the donut molds, a piping bag provides added precision. If a piping bag isn’t available, a large, clean, dry Ziploc® bag with straight 90° angled corners can be used as a substitute.
1. Find a large cup (at least pint-sized). Insert one bottom corner of the Ziploc® bag into the glass so the bag lines the glass.
2. Carefully pour or spoon batter into the bag, filling it only about halfway to leave enough space to grip the bag while piping.
3. Grasp the excess plastic and pull it out of the glass. Make a fist around the bag to grip it, squeezing to push all the batter down into the corner and push out any excess air from the top.
4. Use scissors to cut a small tip off the corner of the bag. Start with a small cut and gradually increase the size if needed, depending on batter thickness.
5. Hold the bag over each donut mold and gently squeeze to pipe batter into each mold. For each mini donut, start from the top and pipe in a circular motion. Fill each mold about three-quarters full. For best results, fill the middle donut mold last.
CHEF TIP: To ensure even browning, carefully flip the donuts with a toothpick midway through cooking.
How should I clean and maintain my DASH DIM813?
To keep your DASH DIM813 in pristine working order, clean it thoroughly after each use to prevent the build-up of food or oil.
• Always allow the appliance to cool completely before moving, cleaning, or storing. Never use abrasive cleaning agents.
• Before removing the Removable Plates and after use, unplug the Treat Maker and allow it to cool completely.
• The Removable Plates are dishwasher safe on the top rack, but hand washing is recommended to preserve the nonstick cooking surface.
• To hand wash the Removable Plates, use a damp, soapy cloth to wipe them down. If food remains, apply a small amount of cooking oil and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Then scrub with a sponge or soft-bristled brush to dislodge food. Wipe down with a damp, soapy cloth again, rinse the cloth, and wipe the plates one last time. If food still remains, apply cooking oil again and let it sit for a few hours before scrubbing again.
• Thoroughly dry the Treat Maker before storing.
The indicator light on my DASH DIM813 keeps shutting off. Is this normal?
Yes, this is normal. During the cooking process, the heating element in the DASH DIM813 will automatically turn on and off to regulate the temperature and ensure that the Removable Plates do not get too hot or cold. When this occurs, the Indicator Light turns on and off.
How do I know when the DASH DIM813 is heated and ready to use?
When the DASH DIM813 reaches the optimal temperature, the Indicator Light shuts off. This means it’s ready for you to start cooking.
How do I turn the DASH DIM813 on and off if there is no button?
To turn the DASH DIM813 on, simply plug in the power cord. When you are finished cooking, turn the Treat Maker off by unplugging it.
The cover of my DASH DIM813 gets very hot. Is this normal?
Yes, this is completely normal. When using the DASH DIM813, always lift and lower the Cover by the Cover Handle. To prevent personal injury, DO NOT lift the Cover with your arm positioned over the Removable Plates as they are hot and may cause injury.
Food is starting to stick to the plates of my DASH DIM813. What is happening and how do I fix it?
There is probably a build-up of burnt food residue on the Removable Plates. This is normal, especially when cooking with sugar. Allow the appliance to cool fully. Then, use a damp, soapy cloth to wipe down the plates. Thoroughly rinse the cloth and wipe again. If any food remains, apply a small amount of cooking oil and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Then scrub with a sponge or soft-bristled brush to dislodge food.
The Indicator Light on my DASH DIM813 won’t turn on and the plates aren’t heating. What should I do?
1. Ensure that the power cord is plugged into the power outlet.
2. Check to make sure the power outlet is operating correctly.
3. Determine if a power failure has occurred in your home, apartment, or building.
