What is the most important step before starting the installation?
During CR Touch installation, you must pull out the Z endstop switch for auto leveling. Otherwise, it will not work. You also need to unplug the cable from the Z endstop/limit switch on the mainboard.
How do I update the printer’s firmware?
1. Right-click the mouse to format the SD card. To ensure the firmware can be flashed successfully, please format the SD card before flashing the firmware.
2. Download the firmware. Before downloading, please confirm your printer model, motherboard version, and hardware configuration (whether it comes with a filament sensor or not).
3. Copy the firmware to the SD card. Note: The SD card can only hold one firmware file.
4. Insert the SD card into the printer.
5. Insert the power cord and press the switch.
6. Wait for the firmware to complete the upgrade (about 10 seconds). Note: Every machine has its own operation interface.
How do I physically install the CR Touch?
1. Insert the connectors into the 5 Pin Port on the CR Touch.
2. Install the CR Touch on the appropriate rack for your printer model using the M3*6 screws.
3. Loosen the fan cover screws and install the CR Touch rack onto the corresponding position with 2pcs of M3*8 screws.
4. Tie the CR Touch cable together with other printer cables as shown in the manual’s diagram.
How do I wire the CR Touch to the mainboard?
Connect the CR Touch to the 32-bit motherboard using the 5-pin cable. The cable plugs into the dedicated 5-pin port on the mainboard, which replaces the Z Stop connector. Remember to unplug the original cable from the Z endstop/limit switch.
What cautions should I observe when leveling?
1. It is recommended that the hotbed be in a cooling state when leveling.
2. Z-axis movement and compensation settings need to be fully completed before proceeding to the next step.
How do I perform auto-leveling on an Ender-3 V2?
Note: After the firmware is updated, you need to restore factory settings.
1. Get the Z offset Value: Navigate to Prepare → Auto Home → Move Axis → Move Z. Please stop moving the Z axis when the distance between the nozzle and the printer bed is about 0.1mm (the height of a sheet of A4 paper). This value is the Z offset value.
2. Input and save the Z offset value: Go to Prepare → Auto home → Z-offset. Enter the Z-axis compensation value confirmed in the previous step. Then go to Control → Storage configuration to save.
3. Start auto-leveling: Select Level, and the printer will start auto-leveling.
4. Model Printing: After automatic leveling, you can do a trial print to verify the leveling. Operation: Print from SD Card → Model Test. The test passed if leveling is completed and you can print now.
What are the leveling steps for other models?
1. Get the Z offset Value: Navigate to Prepare → Auto Home → Move Axis → Move Z. Please stop moving the Z axis when the distance between the nozzle and the printer bed is about 0.1mm (the height of a sheet of A4 paper). This value is the Z offset value.
2. Input the Z-axis compensation value: Record the Z offset value. Then navigate to Prepare → Auto home → Control → Bed Leveling → Probe Z offset and input the Z offset value. Then select Store Settings.
3. Level Bed: Go to Control → Bed Leveling → Level Bed. Different 3D printers may have different numbers of touching points for automatic leveling. The Ender-3 has 9 points for leveling.
4. Model Printing: After the automatic leveling, the user can do a trial print to verify the leveling. Operation: Print from SD Card → Model Test (Name and file of the testing model shall be prepared by the user).
What should I do if my model printing fails after leveling?
If model printing fails, please fine-tune the Probe Z Offset again and save settings until the printing effect is good.
If leveling fails completely, please reset the Z-offset value to “0” and restart leveling. Otherwise, the nozzle may hit the printing platform.
How do I configure my slicer software for the CR Touch?
1. Open your Slicer software.
2. Navigate to Settings → Printer → Manage Printers.
3. Open Machine Settings.
4. In the Start G-code section, change “G28” to “G28 G29”.
