You must remove the glass door to install optional brick liners, logs, lava rock, and ember material. Follow these steps:

1. Remove the upper louver panel by lifting upward and out.

2. Remove the screws from the three tabs at the top of the glass door while holding the door securely keeping it from falling forward.

3. Grasp the door by both sides and ease it upward off of the lower bracket.

4. To replace the glass door, follow the above instructions in reverse.

WARNING: Do not operate this fireplace with a broken glass door panel or without the glass door panel securely in place.


How do I install the battery into the remote receiver for the COMFORT GLOW CHDV37N?

1. Open the bottom louver and locate the switch bracket on the left.

2. Unscrew the switch bracket. Lean the bracket forward so you are able to access the back of the remote receiver.

3. Locate the battery clip mounted on the back of the receiver. Slide a 9-volt battery (not included) through the clip.

4. Attach the terminal wires to the battery.

5. Replace the switch bracket.


How do I install the logs, lava rock, and glowing embers in the COMFORT GLOW CHDV37N?

1. Place log #1 (back log) on the grate. Make sure the lower middle section of the log fits securely into the open area in the back of the grate.

2. Place log #2 (two log assembly) onto pins on the left and right of the front burner. The middle pin is not used.

3. Place log #3 (crossover assembly) onto the notched-out section of log #2. Log #3 rests on the back portion of the front log and in the crook of the back log.

4. Place lava rock along the sides and front of the firebox bottom. NOTICE: Do not put lava rock on the burner or under the burner.

5. Pull ember material apart into pieces no larger than a dime. Place these pieces loosely onto the exposed section of the front burner and space between logs 2 and 3 where the front burner is exposed. Do not block ports by using too much ember material in one area.

6. Replace the glass door.

1. STOP! Read the safety information.

2. Open the lower louver panel.

3. Turn ON/OFF/REMOTE switch to “OFF”.

4. Turn off all electric power to the fireplace.

5. Push in gas control knob slightly and turn clockwise to “OFF”.

6. Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas. Then smell for gas, including near the floor. If you smell gas, STOP! Follow safety instructions. If you don’t smell gas, go to the next step.

7. The pilot is located by the main burner.

8. Turn gas control knob counterclockwise to “PILOT”.

9. Push in gas control knob all the way and hold. Immediately light the pilot by repeatedly depressing the piezo spark ignitor until a flame appears. Continue to hold for about one (1) minute after the pilot is lit. Release the gas control knob and it will pop back. Pilot should remain lit.

10. Turn gas control knob counterclockwise to “ON”.

11. Turn on all electric power to the fireplace.

12. Turn the ON/OFF/REMOTE switch to ON position.

13. This valve is equipped with a HI/LO feature. Set fireplace input as desired.

14. Close lower louver panel.

1. Open lower louver panel.

2a. Set selector switch in the OFF position.

2b. Turn ON/OFF/REMOTE switch to “OFF”.

Thereafter, clean the glass two or three times during each heating season, depending on the usage. Warning: Do not use abrasive cleaners as this may damage glass.
