Before operating the CHAMPION 201445, it is essential to read the ENTIRE operator’s manual to become familiar with the product’s features. Failure to operate the product correctly could result in damage, personal property damage, serious injury, or death. Key safety warnings include:

MOVE GENERATOR OUTDOORS: Using a generator indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES. Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which is a poison you cannot see or smell.

NEVER use inside a home or garage, EVEN IF doors and windows are open.

ONLY use OUTSIDE and far away from windows, doors, and vents.

MAINTAIN CLEARANCE: Keep all objects at least 5 feet (1.5 m) from the generator. Heat from the muffler and exhaust gas can ignite combustible materials.

NO DEVICES CONNECTED AT START/STOP: NEVER start or stop the generator with electrical devices connected or turned on.

The parts included with the CHAMPION 201445 generator are:

• A propane (LPG) hose with a regulator

• An oil funnel

• A bottle of engine oil

Follow these steps to set up your CHAMPION 201445 generator:

1. Remove Shipping Support Brackets: Before proceeding with any other setup step, remove the shipping support brackets. This is a critical first step.

2. Attach Wheel Kit: Follow the assembly instructions to install the wheel kit.

3. Connect the Battery: Cut the cable tie on each side of the battery connector. Push the two halves of the battery connector together tightly to establish a connection.

4. Add Engine Oil: Make sure the shipping brackets are removed before adding oil. Add the recommended oil up to the specified amount. Do not overfill.

For the CHAMPION 201445 generator, use 5W-30 engine oil. A bottle of oil is included with the unit. The engine capacity is up to 0.6 US qt. (600 ml). It is important that you DO NOT overfill the engine with oil.

Important: Make sure the shipping brackets are removed before adding oil.

Before starting the generator, follow these three steps:

1. Move the generator outdoors. Only use the generator outside and far away from windows, doors, and vents to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

2. Add fuel. You can use Gasoline, Propane (LPG), or Natural Gas (NG). For gasoline operation, DO NOT USE E15 OR E85.

3. Do not plug in any electrical devices. Ensure that no electrical devices are connected or turned on before you start the generator.

To start the CHAMPION 201445 on gasoline:

1. Turn the fuel select dial to the “GASOLINE ON” position.

2. Move the choke lever to the “CHOKE” position.

3. Press and hold the ignition switch to the “START” position.

4. Once the engine starts, move the choke lever to the “RUN” position.

To start the CHAMPION 201445 on Propane or Natural Gas:

1. Open the propane tank or natural gas valve.

2. Turn the fuel select dial to the “PROPANE ON” or “NATURAL GAS ON” position.

3. Move the choke lever to the “CHOKE” position.

4. Press and hold the ignition switch to the “START” position for 2-3 seconds.

5. Move the choke lever to the “RUN” position.

6. Press and hold the ignition switch to the “START” position again to start the engine. If the engine does not start, wait 10 seconds, then repeat this step.

You should only plug in electrical devices after the generator has been successfully started and the engine is running smoothly. Never have any devices plugged in when starting or stopping the generator.
