What are the critical safety warnings I should follow when installing and using the CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver?
To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH, please follow these safety warnings for your CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver:
To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH from electrocution:
• Be sure power is NOT connected BEFORE installing the receiver.
To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH from a moving gate or garage door:
• ALWAYS keep transmitters out of reach of children. NEVER permit children to operate or play with remote control transmitters.
• Activate gate or door ONLY when it can be seen clearly, is properly adjusted, and there are no obstructions to door travel.
• ALWAYS keep gate or garage door in sight until completely closed. NEVER permit anyone to cross path of moving gate or door.
How do I mount the CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver and its antenna?
To mount your CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver and antenna, follow these steps:
Receiver Mounting: Mount the receiver to a wall using #6 hardware (not provided). The specific hardware needed will depend on your mounting application.
Antenna Mounting: Screw the antenna on clockwise and then slide the rubber boot down to meet the O-ring.
How do I select the power supply setting on the CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver?
The CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver is factory set for 24 volt power input. If your power input is 12 volts, you must change the setting. To do this, first remove the front cover of the receiver by turning the screws counterclockwise a 1/4 of a turn until each releases. Then, set the jumper (P3) to either the 12 volt or 24 volt setting, depending on your power input.
How do I set the output relay mode on my CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver?
The CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver is factory set for momentary relay output (“MNT”). You can change this to constant pressure mode if needed. The relay output is an isolated normally open contact.
• Momentary mode: The output relay will be on for .5 seconds before turning off.
• Constant pressure mode: The output relay is continuously on while receiving a matching/valid ID code from the transmitter. It will turn off immediately once the receiver stops receiving the code.
To change to constant pressure mode, locate the mode jumper inside the receiver and move it from the “MNT” position to the “CST” position.
How do I configure the CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver to work with different transmitter brands?
To configure your CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver, locate the configuration switch and set it to the desired RF mode of operation. The modes are as follows:
• Linear/Delta-3™: This mode works with all “Linear/Delta-3™” transmitters that transmit at 310 MHz using an 8-bit ID system. This is the factory setting.
• Multi-Code™: This mode works with all “Multi-Code™” transmitters that transmit at 300 MHz using a 10-bit ID system.
• Stanley™: This mode works with all “Stanley™ radio” transmitters that transmit at 310 MHz using a 10-bit ID system.
How do I set the DIP switches on the CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver?
To set the code on your CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver, locate the 10-position DIP switch.
• For a new installation with TriCode® transmitters: Randomly set the switches to match the switches on your transmitters. Never use the factory settings.
• If using with Linear/Delta 3™, Multi-Code™, or Stanley™ transmitters: Match the receiver DIP switch settings to those of your existing transmitters.
• Tip for transmitters with toggle switches: If it is difficult to determine the on and off positions on the transmitter, try reversing the setting on the TriCode® DIP switch.
• Note for Linear/Delta-3™ mode: In this 8-bit system mode, the last 2 DIP switches (#9 & #10) are ignored. They can be left in either the ‘ON’ or ‘OFF’ position.
What should I consider to avoid code duplication and cross-talk with my CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver?
To avoid issues with your CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver, follow these guidelines:
• Recode Before Operation: To avoid duplicating codes in adjacent systems, all transmitters and receivers should be re-coded before operation.
• Codes to Avoid: Unless using the maximum number of codes, you should not use the following four code combinations:
• All DIP Switches ON
• All DIP Switches OFF
• DIP Switches alternating ON/OFF
• DIP Switches alternating OFF/ON
• Avoid Cross-Talk: Receivers should be installed at least 5 feet apart to avoid cross-talk.
• Post-Installation Check: After installation, operate the transmitter from outside the building to ensure the chosen DIP switch setting does not interfere with or operate nearby garage door operators and/or security systems. If it does, select a different DIP switch setting and test again.
How do I wire the CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver for power and output?
Your CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver includes a prewired gasket pigtail for connections. The wire functions are as follows:
• Power Supply:
• Connect the Red and Black wires to your 12V or 24V AC/DC power supply.
• Channel 1 Output (Normally Open):
• Connect the White/Green and White/Yellow wires to the device you wish to activate. These wires provide a normally open contact.
Are there any user-serviceable parts or modifications allowed for the CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver?
To comply with FCC and or Industry Canada (IC) rules, adjustment or modifications of the CHAMBERLAIN TRICODE receiver and/or transmitter are prohibited, except for changing the code setting or replacing the battery. THERE ARE NO OTHER USER SERVICEABLE PARTS.
