Warnings:

• Dispose of this television and any components including batteries in an environmentally friendly manner.

• In case of electrostatic discharge (ESD), the TV may display incorrect functions. If this happens, switch the TV off and back on. The TV will work normally.

Placement Safety:

• Never place a television set on an unstable location. A television set may fall, causing serious personal injury or death. Many injuries, particularly to children, can be avoided by taking simple precautions such as:

• Use cabinets or stands recommended by the manufacturer of the television set.

• Only use furniture that can safely support the television set.

• Ensure the television set is not overhanging the edge of the supporting furniture.

• Do not place the television set on tall furniture (for example, cupboards or bookcases) without anchoring both the furniture and the television set to a suitable support.

• Do not place the television set on cloth or other materials that may be located between the television set and supporting furniture.

• Educate children about the dangers of climbing on furniture to reach the television set or its controls.

General Safety:

• This appliance is fitted with a fused 3-pin mains plug. If the fuse needs replacement, ensure it is of the same amperage and approved with the BSI mark.

• Always place the television on a flat, level surface, avoiding areas subject to strong vibration.

• The ideal viewing distance is approximately five times the length of the diagonal measurement of the TV screen.

• Ensure the television is not placed on top of the power cable.

• Never place mobile phones, speakers, or other devices that may cause magnetic or radio interference near the television.

• To disconnect the set from the mains, remove the mains plug from the socket. Ensure the plug is always easily accessible.

• Excessive noise when using earphones and headphones can cause loss of hearing.

• To clean your TV, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth dipped in a soap and water solution or a weak detergent solution.

• Never use alcohol, paint thinner, or benzene to clean this unit.

• Before using a chemically treated cloth, read the instructions that came with the cloth carefully.

CAUTION: If water or other liquid enters the television through the display panel surface, a malfunction may occur.

The extended use of fixed image program material can cause a permanent “shadow image” on the LCD/LED panel, also known as “screen burn”. This type of deterioration is irreversible and not repairable under warranty. To limit this, observe the following steps:

1. Reduce the brightness/contrast setting to a minimum suitable viewing level.

2. Do not display the fixed image for extended periods of time.

3. Turn the power off when not in use.

Examples of images that are more likely to cause “screen burn” include TV channel logos (especially bright and stationary ones), time displays, Teletext, TV/DVD menus, and leaving the TV in pause mode for long periods.

It is important to save your box/packaging in the event of warranty/service repair or support.

To complete the stand feet installation, you will require a cross head screwdriver.

1. Place the TV set on a flat and clean surface with the panel facing downwards to avoid damage.

2. Fix the stand feet as shown in the user guide. When installed correctly, the stand feet will be longest at the front of the TV and shortest at the back, with the feet pointing away from each other.

3. Once the stand feet are in the correct position, secure them to the underside of the TV set using the 4 screws provided.

To detach the stand, remove the 4 screws from the underside of the TV set and then remove the stand feet.

For maximum security, anti-tip straps should be fitted. These straps are designed to be attached to the rear of the TV and then tethered to the wall or the furniture the TV is stood on. Please ensure that children do not climb on the TV set.

A) Using one or both of the top wall-mounting holes and screws (the screws are already supplied in the wall mounting holes), fasten one end of the fastening cord/s to the TV.

B) Secure the other end of the fastening cord/s to your wall. You will need screws/fixings suitable for your wall type, available separately from most DIY stores.

Important: Before drilling any holes in the wall, ensure you are not drilling where there could be any electrical wires, water, or gas pipes.

1. Remove the four screws that are supplied in the wall mounting holes on the rear of the TV.

2. The wall mount can now be easily attached to the mounting holes on the rear of the TV.

Important: If wall mounting this TV, only use the screws already provided in the wall mounting holes. Using other screws which are longer could cause irreparable damage to internal parts. When using a wall bracket, please ensure the screws in the back of the TV set are not over-tightened.

The VESA wall mounting pattern for the 40-inch models is 200 x 300 (mm).

For optimum viewing, if wall mounting the TV higher than eye level, the TV should be tilted downwards so that the TV’s screen is ‘face on’.

Top Section (1):

• ON/OFF: Switch on the TV when in standby or vice versa.

• MUTE: Mute the sound or vice versa.

Number & Guide Section (2):

• NUMBER BUTTONS (0-9): To select a TV channel directly.

• TV GUIDE: Opens the 7 day TV guide (digital TV mode).

• ↩ (Return): To return to the previous channel viewed.

Middle Section (3):

• VOL (+/-): To increase/decrease the sound level.

• PICTURE: Scrolls through picture mode options.

• SOUND: Scrolls through sound mode options.

• SOURCE: To display the input/source menu.

• CH (+/-): To increase or decrease the channel being watched.

• MENU: To display OSD menu.

• EXIT: To exit all menus.

• ▲/▼/◄/►/OK: Allows you to navigate the on-screen menus and adjust the system settings.

• BACK: To go back a previous step.

• FAV: To display favourites menu.

Bottom Section (4):

• INFO: Press once for now/next channel information. Press twice for information about the current programme.

• TEXT: To enter/exit Text.

• SUBTITLE: To switch the dialogue at the bottom of the screen (on/off).

• TV: To switch to Digital Channels.

• YOUTUBE: Access the YouTube App.

• NETFLIX: Access the Netflix App.

• SMART: Access the Blaupunkt Smart Portal.

• RECORD: Access the USB record function.

• REC LIST: Opens the list of what has been previously recorded.

• Media Controls (◄◄, ►►, ■, ►II, etc.): Control media playback.

The TV control stick is located on the back of the TV in the left bottom corner. It can be used to control many of the TV functions.

While TV is in standby mode:

• Press the centre of the control stick once – Power on the TV set.

While watching TV:

• RIGHT/LEFT – volume up/volume down

• UP/DOWN – changes channel up/down

• Press the centre of the control stick once – Displays Menu

• Press and hold the centre of the control stick – Standby Power Off

While in menu:

• RIGHT/LEFT/UP/DOWN – navigation of cursor in on-screen menus

• Press the centre of the control stick once – OK/Confirm selected item

• Press and hold the centre of the control stick – Back to previous menu

A) Using the remote control:

1. Press [SOURCE] – The source menu will appear.

2. Press [◄] or [►] to select the input you require.

3. Press [OK].

B) Using the TV control stick:

1. Press the centre of the control stick once to enter the TV menu.

2. Press the control stick left/right and navigate through to the SOURCE menu.

3. Press the centre of the control stick to enter the SOURCE menu.

4. Press the control stick left/right to scroll through and select the input/source you require.

5. Press the centre of the control stick to select the chosen input/source option highlighted.

Your BLAUPUNKT 40-138M-GB-11B4-FEGPX-UK has various ports to connect different devices. Ensure the TV source is set to the corresponding input.

• Composite AV/Video: Use the mini AV cable to connect devices like VCRs or older games consoles. Set the TV source to Composite/AV.

• SCART: Use a SCART cable for devices like DVD players. Set the TV source to SCART.

• HDMI: A HDMI cable outputs both video and audio for digital-quality. Connect devices like Blu-ray players, modern games consoles, or a Sky box. Set the TV source to the corresponding HDMI port (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.). HDMI 3 is an MHL port, allowing you to mirror media from a compatible phone or tablet while charging it.

• Component/YPbPr: If a device uses RED, GREEN, BLUE, RED & WHITE connectors, connect via Component for picture and phono for sound. Set the TV source to Component/YPbPr.

• VGA/PC: To connect a laptop or desktop computer, use a VGA cable for video and a 3.5mm audio cable for sound. Set the TV source to VGA/PC.

• External Audio (Amplifiers, Sound Bars): You can connect an external audio device via the TV’s 3.5mm Earphone output (this will disable the TV speakers) or the Digital Optical Audio Output.

• Ethernet/Network: The Ethernet/LAN port is used for Freeview HD services and smart functions. Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to this port.

You can connect your TV to your home network either wirelessly or with an Ethernet cable.

Connecting with a wireless connection:

1. Press Menu on the remote control.

2. Scroll to and enter ‘Settings’, then enter the ‘Network’ menu.

3. In the ‘Network’ menu, scroll down and select ‘Wi-Fi Config’.

4. Within ‘Wi-Fi config’ options, highlight and select ‘Wi-Fi Auto Search’.

5. The TV will automatically search for networks.

6. Select your home network and enter the network password.

7. The TV will then establish a connection.

Connecting with an Ethernet/LAN cable:

1. Plug your Ethernet cable into the RJ45 (Ethernet) socket on the rear of the television.

2. Press Menu on the remote control.

3. Scroll to and enter ‘Settings’, then enter the ‘Network’ menu.

4. In ‘Network Configuration’, select ‘Cable’.

5. The set will automatically configure itself.

6. Exit the menu by pressing ‘EXIT’.

To access the main menu, press the [MENU] button on the remote control. Use the scroll (▲▼◄►) buttons to navigate. To select a sub-menu or confirm a setting, press [OK]. To exit a menu at any time, press the [EXIT] button.

Picture Menu:

• Picture Mode: Choose from presets like Dynamic, Standard, Movie, Personal, and Economy.

• In Personal mode, you can adjust: Contrast, Brightness, Colour, Sharpness, and Colour Temperature (Normal, Warm, Cold).

• Aspect Ratio: Choose the best format for the broadcast (Auto, 4:3, 16:9, Full Screen, Zoom1, Zoom 2).

• Noise Reduction: Switch noise reduction on or off (low, middle, high, Off).

• Active Contrast: Automatically optimises backlight and contrast (low, middle, high, Off).

Sound Menu:

• Sound Mode: Choose from presets like Standard, Music, Movie, Sports, and Personal.

• Other settings include: EQ (in Personal mode), Balance, Auto Volume Level (AVL), DTS TruSurround, Digital Output (Off, Auto, PCM), Audio Description, and Audio Delay.

Channel Menu (in Settings):

• Auto Tuning: Retune the television for all digital and analogue channels.

• Manual Tuning: Manually tune analogue or digital signals.

• Freeview SMART Retune: Scan for new Freeview channels without affecting your existing channel list.

• Channel Edit: Delete, move, skip, and select favourite channels.

Network Menu (in Settings):

• Configure Cable or Wi-Fi connections, view network info, and test the connection.

Time Menu (in Settings):

• Set Auto Sync, Clock, Off/On Timers, Sleep Timer, OSD Timer, Auto Standby, and Time Zone.

Lock Menu (in Settings):

• Set System Lock, change the password (default is 0000), lock channels, and set Parental Guidance.

Setup Menu (in Settings):

• Change menu Language, Audio/Subtitle Languages, perform a First Time Installation, update software (USB or NET), Reset TV, and configure HDMI CEC.

Press the [SMART] button on the remote to access the Blaupunkt Smart Portal. This portal provides access to a variety of apps and multimedia via the internet.

• Main Apps: Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and YouTube have dedicated buttons on the remote for quick access.

• More Apps Menu: Access additional apps like Web Browser, BBC Sport, and BBC News from here.

• Web Browser: Use the following buttons for navigation:

– CH+: Scroll page up

– CH-: Scroll page down

– Red Button: Show/hide browser menu bar

– Yellow Button: Zoom in

– Blue Button: Zoom out

• Miracast (Screen Mirroring): Access this from the Media Menu. It allows you to mirror the screen of a compatible smartphone or tablet wirelessly to the TV.

1. Insert a USB memory stick into one of the USB ports on the TV.

2. The TV may automatically open the media menu. If not, access the Media Menu through the main menu system.

3. Select USB mode.

4. The content on the USB device will be divided into Photo, Music, Movie, and All.

5. Use the remote’s scroll buttons (▲▼◄►) to navigate through your files and press [OK] to play or view the selected item.

6. While viewing media, you can use the remote control’s playback buttons (play, pause, stop, etc.) or press [INFO] to access an on-screen playback menu.

Note: USB extension cables are not recommended as they can cause a reduction in quality. For playback issues, ensure your files are in a compatible format by checking the technical specification page.

The USB record facility is available in Freeview/Saorview mode when used with a compatible high-speed USB memory stick or USB hard drive. This television contains one TV tuner, so it can only record the channel you are watching, or record one channel while the television is in standby mode. Recording is not possible from any other input/output source.

Recommended Minimum USB Specification:

• Read Speed: 20 Mb/s (MegaBit Per Second)

• Write Speed: 6 Mb/s (MegaBit Per Second)

Pause Live TV (Time Shift):

• To pause live TV, press the play/pause (►II) button. The live content will be recorded. To resume watching, press play/pause again.

• You can use fast forward (►►) and rewind (◄◄) within the paused recording.

• Tip: When you switch the TV to standby or change the channel, the Time Shift memory is wiped.

One Button Record:

• At any point while watching a programme, press the red [RECORD] button to start recording.

Playback files from Record List:

• Ensure the TV is in Freeview/Saorview source mode.

• Press the [REC LIST] button on the remote control.

• The recorded list will appear. Select the file you want to watch and press [OK].

Option 1) Connecting in the same room:

• Connect the Sky box to the TV using either a SCART or HDMI cable.

• If using SCART, select ‘SCART’ as the Input source on the TV.

• If using HDMI, select the corresponding ‘HDMI’ port as the Input source on the TV.

• To use a Sky remote (Revision 9 or later) to operate the TV’s basic functions, you need to program it with the 4-digit code 2134.

Option 2) Connecting to a TV in a different room:

• Connect the Sky box’s RF/RF2 output to the 2nd TV’s Aerial/RF input using an RF/COAX cable.

1. On the 2nd TV, select the ‘Analogue’ input source.

2. Choose a channel number to store the Sky box on (e.g., channel 6).

3. Press the corresponding number on the remote to select that channel.

4. On the TV remote, press Menu and navigate to Manual Tuning or Analogue Manual Tuning.

5. Manually tune in the channel. The Sky box is usually at a frequency between 800Mhz and 850Mhz. Once found, press ‘OK’ to store it.

Some options are only available in certain sources, for example, HDMI. They are unavailable in the other sources where they have no effect.

The TV has an Auto Standby feature. To disable this, go to the ‘Time’ menu in settings, scroll down to ‘Auto standby’ and select ‘OFF’.

The LED will flash during the TV’s boot-up process. Once the TV is fully operational, the LED light will stop flashing, indicating that the TV is fully functional and ready to use.

1. Check you are in an area that can receive Freeview/Saorview channels.

2. Ensure you are using an aerial that is able to receive a good digital signal. In most cases, you will need an outdoor digital hi-gain/wideband aerial. In areas with excellent digital coverage, a loft type aerial might work, but it is highly likely that you will also need to connect a booster between the back of the TV and the TV aerial wall socket. A portable/indoor type aerial is generally not sufficient to receive a good enough digital signal.

3. To receive HD channels, you will need a Digital TV aerial and be in a good coverage area. Any Freeview HD channels found during tuning will be placed in channel positions above 100 (e.g., 101 for BBC1 HD, 102 for BBC2 HD, etc.).

4. Some data channels for Freeview can only be obtained when the TV’s ethernet port is connected to your router.

If the TV does not save the channels when you power it off, it’s likely the channel database has become corrupt. Follow these steps to resolve it:

1. Turn off the TV.

2. Remove the RF/Aerial cable from the rear of the TV and then turn the TV back on again.

3. Using the remote control, press Menu followed by 8-8-8-8 to enter the initial setup/first time installation menu.

4. Press OK (let the TV run the full tuning process).

5. Once completed, turn off the TV, reconnect the RF/Aerial cable, then turn the TV back on again.

6. Repeat steps 3 & 4.

There is a master password of 4711, which you can use to gain access to the TV menu and reset the normal password.
