To ensure the safe use of your BENQ AH700ST projector, please follow these important safety instructions:

1. Please read the user manual before you operate your projector and save it for future reference.

2. Do not look straight at the projector lens during operation. The intense light beam may damage your eyes.

3. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel only.

4. Always open the lens shutter or remove the lens cap (if any) when the projector light source is on.

5. The light source becomes extremely hot during operation.

6. If you are in an area where the mains voltage may fluctuate, it is recommended to connect your projector through a power stabilizer, surge protector, or uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

7. Do not block the projection lens with any objects during operation as this could cause items to become heated, deformed, or even cause a fire. Use the blank function to temporarily turn off the light source.

8. Do not operate light sources beyond their rated life.

9. Do not place the product on an unstable cart, stand, or table.

10. Do not attempt to disassemble the projector. There are dangerous high voltages inside. Refer servicing only to qualified professional service personnel.

11. Do not block the ventilation holes. Avoid placing the projector on soft surfaces like blankets, covering it with a cloth, or placing inflammables near it.

12. Always place the projector on a level, horizontal surface. Do not use if tilted more than 10 degrees left to right, or more than 15 degrees front to back.

13. Do not stand the projector on its end vertically.

14. Do not step on the projector or place any objects upon it.

15. A sensation of heated air and an odor from the ventilation grill during operation is normal and not a product defect.

16. Do not place liquids near or on the projector. If it becomes wet, disconnect it from power and have it serviced.

17. This product can be mounted on a ceiling or wall, which requires an inverted image display setting.

18. This apparatus must be earthed.

19. Do not place the projector in poorly ventilated spaces, locations with excessively high temperatures (like a closed car), or locations with excessive humidity, dust, or smoke. Ensure at least 50 cm clearance from walls.

The BENQ AH700ST is a Risk Group 2 product (IEC 62471-5:2015), which means possibly hazardous optical radiation is emitted.

• Do not stare at the operating light source. It may be harmful to the eyes.

• As with any bright source, do not stare into the direct beam.

• The projector’s light source unit uses a laser. Avoid eye exposure at a distance of less than 1 meter.

• Supervise children and never allow them to stare into the projector beam at any distance.

• Use caution when using the remote control to start the projector while in front of the projection lens.

• Avoid using optical aids such as binoculars or telescopes inside the beam.

• To avoid damaging the DLP chips, never aim a high-power laser beam into the projection lens.

Caution: Use of controls, adjustments, or performance of procedures other than those specified in the manual may result in hazardous radiation exposure.

1. Press and open the battery cover, as illustrated in the manual.

2. Remove the old batteries (if applicable) and install two new AAA batteries. Ensure the positive and negative ends are positioned correctly.

3. Replace the battery cover until it clicks into place.

Important Precautions:

• Avoid leaving the remote and batteries in excessively hot or humid environments.

• Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.

• Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

• Never throw batteries into a fire.

• If the batteries are dead or the remote will not be used for an extended period, remove them to prevent leakage.

Here are the functions of the main controls:

1. POWER: Toggles the projector between standby mode and on.

2. Indicator Lights: POWER, TEMP, and LIGHT indicators show the projector’s status.

3. IR remote sensor: Receives signals from the remote control.

4. BACK: Goes back to the previous OSD menu, exits and saves menu settings.

5. Arrow keys (▲/▼/◄/►): Used to navigate the OSD menu and make adjustments. They also function as Keystone and Volume keys.

6. SOURCE: Displays the source selection bar.

7. FOCUS: Displays the adjustment page for manual image focus.

8. OK: Confirms the selected OSD menu item.

9. MODE/PICTURE: Displays the Picture Mode menu.

10. MENU: Turns the OSD menu on or off.

11. AUTO SCREEN FIT: Press to conduct auto screen fit.

12. MEMORY: Displays the image memory menu.

13. Numeric buttons: Enters numbers for network settings or remote control ID.

14. ALL: Press and hold ID SET then press ALL to clear the current remote control ID setting.

15. GEOMETRY: Opens the geometry menu for image correction.

16. BLANK: Hides the screen picture.

17. ID setting indicator: Shows the remote ID status.

18. GOLF SETTING: Displays the golf setting menu.

19. ZOOM: Displays the motor zoom menu.

20. SCREEN FILL: Displays the aspect ratio selection list.

21. INFO: Displays the projector information.

22. MUTE: Toggles projector audio on and off.

23. ID SET: Sets the remote control ID (01-99). The remote and projector ID must match.

24. LIGHT: Selects an available Light Source Mode.

25. 3D: Displays the 3D menu.

26. USER 1/USER 2: Switches to a user-defined picture mode.

Before choosing an installation location, consider the size and position of your screen, electrical outlet location, and the distance between the projector and other equipment. You can install your BENQ AH700ST in the following ways:

1. Front: Place the projector on a table in front of the screen. This is the most common method for quick setup and portability.

2. Rear: Place the projector on a table behind the screen. This requires a special rear projection screen.

3. Front Ceiling: Suspend the projector upside-down in front of the screen. A BenQ Projector Ceiling/Wall Mount Kit is required.

4. Rear Ceiling: Suspend the projector upside-down behind the screen. This requires both a special rear projection screen and the mounting kit.

After positioning, turn on the projector and go to Advanced Menu > Installation > Projector Position to select the correct setting.

If you intend to mount your BENQ AH700ST, follow these guidelines:

• Use a proper fitting BenQ projector mounting kit to ensure it is securely and safely installed.

• If using a non-BenQ brand kit, there is a safety risk of the projector falling due to improper attachment.

• Consider purchasing a separate Kensington lock compatible security cable to attach the projector to the mounting bracket base as a secondary restraint.

• It is recommended to have a professional dealer install the projector for you to prevent falls and injury.

• Take necessary precautions to prevent the projector from falling during an earthquake.

• Be aware of the surrounding temperature. If a heater is used, the temperature around the ceiling may be higher than expected.

• Read the mounting kit’s user manual for the recommended torque range. Over-tightening can damage the projector.

• Ensure the power outlet is at an accessible height for easy shutdown.

• Ceiling/Wall mount screw specifications: M4 (Max Length = 25 mm; Min Length = 20 mm).

You can fine-tune the image from your BENQ AH700ST using the following adjustments:

Adjusting the projection angle:

If the projected image is trapezoidal, the projector is not on a flat surface or perpendicular to the screen. You can screw the adjuster feet to fine-tune the horizontal angle. To retract the feet, screw them in the reverse direction.

Adjusting the focus:

Adjust the focus if the image is fuzzy, especially during initial setup or after moving the projector.

1. Press FOCUS on the remote control.

2. Press and hold ◄ / ► to adjust the focus.

3. Press OK to save and exit.

The Auto Screen Fit function automatically adjusts the focus, zoom, and aspect ratio of the projected image to fit your screen. Follow these steps:

1. Measure the projection distance. Ensure it is slightly longer than the intended projection distance.

2. Turn on the projector and adjust the blank image until it overflows all four borders of the screen.

3. Adjust the projection distance, angle, or zoom until the adjustment markers are within the border of the screen.

4. Press the Auto Screen Fit key on your remote control. The projector will detect the screen size and ratio, then fit the focused image to the screen. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the adjustment.

Notes:

• If the projection distance is greater than 3 meters, the screen border must be at least 6 cm thick.

• For distances within 2.2 meters, the projection angle should not exceed 10 degrees for 16:9/16:10 screens or 20 degrees for 4:3/1:1 screens.

• Use the Focus function to fine-tune the image after the process is complete.

Keystoning occurs when the projected image is a trapezoid due to angled projection. To correct this distorted image:

1. Display the keystone correction page by either pressing the ▲/▼ keystone keys on the remote or projector, or by navigating to Advanced Menu > Installation > 2D Keystone and pressing OK.

2. Once the 2D Keystone correction page appears:

• To correct keystoning at the top of the image, use ▼.

• To correct keystoning at the bottom of the image, use ▲.

• To correct keystoning on the right side of the image, use ◄.

• To correct keystoning on the left side of the image, use ►.

You can manually adjust the four corners of the image by setting the horizontal and vertical values. To do this:

1. Display the Corner Fit page by either pressing the Geometry key on the remote control or navigating to Advanced Menu > Installation > Geometry > Corner Fit and pressing OK.

2. Press ▲/▼/◄/► to select one corner and press OK.

3. Press ▲/▼ to adjust the vertical values for that corner.

4. Press ◄/► to adjust the horizontal values for that corner.

When connecting a signal source to your BENQ AH700ST, be sure to:

1. Turn all equipment off before making any connections.

2. Use the correct signal cables for each source (e.g., HDMI, USB Type-C).

3. Ensure the cables are firmly inserted into the correct ports on the projector and the source device.

Note: Many notebooks do not automatically turn on their external video ports when connected. You may need to use a key combination like FN + a function key with a monitor symbol to activate the external display. Refer to your notebook’s documentation for the specific key combination.

The BENQ AH700ST supports wireless projection using the optional Wireless Dongle (EZC-5201BS). After inserting the dongle into the WIRELESS DONGLE port, select Wireless Display from the source selection bar and follow the on-screen instructions.

Connecting the projector to the Internet:

1. On your device (phone, laptop), select the projector’s WiFi SSID (BenQ_xxxxxxxx) in your WiFi settings.

2. Enter the password shown on the projected image.

3. Open a web browser on your device and go to the address 192.168.203.1.

4. Select the WiFi network you want the projector to join and enter the password if asked.

Projecting from your device:

• For iOS/macOS devices: Ensure your device is on the same WiFi network as the projector. Open the control center, press screen mirroring, and choose the projector (BenQ_xxxxxxxx).

• For Android devices: Open the Quick settings panel, press the Screen Mirroring icon, and choose the projector (BenQ_xxxxxxxx).

• For Windows OS devices: Press the Windows key + P / K and choose the projector (BenQ_xxxxxxxx).

1. Plug in the power cord and turn on the power outlet switch. The power indicator on the projector will light orange.

2. Press the power button on the projector or remote control. The power indicator will flash green and then stay solid green when the projector is on.

3. The startup procedure takes about 10 seconds. If necessary, press Focus to adjust image clarity.

4. If it’s the first time using the projector, select your OSD language.

5. If prompted for a password, use the arrow keys to enter the 6-digit password.

6. Switch on all connected equipment. The projector will automatically search for an input signal. If no signal is found, “No Signal” will be displayed. You can also press SOURCE to manually select an input.

1. Press the power button on the projector or remote control. A confirmation message will appear.

2. Press the power button a second time. The power indicator will flash orange, the light source will shut down, and the cooling fans will run for a few seconds.

3. Once the cooling process is finished, the power indicator becomes a steady orange, and the fans stop. You can now disconnect the power cord from the power outlet.

Note: To protect the light source, the projector will not respond to any commands during the cooling process.

Setting a Password:

1. Go to Advanced Menu > System > Security Settings > Password and press OK.

2. Highlight Change Password and press OK.

3. Use the four arrow keys (▲, ▼, ◄, ► representing digits 1, 2, 3, 4 respectively) to enter a six-digit password.

4. Confirm the new password by re-entering it.

5. To activate the password requirement at startup, go to the Power On Lock option and select On. You will need to input the password again to confirm.

If you forget the password (Password Recall Procedure):

1. At the password entry screen, press and hold OK for 3 seconds. A coded number will be displayed on the screen.

2. Write down this number and turn off your projector.

3. Contact the local BenQ service center to decode the number. You may be required to provide proof of purchase.

Disabling the Password Function:

Go to Advanced Menu > System > Security Settings > Password > Power On Lock, press OK, and select Off. You will be prompted to enter the current password to disable the feature.

The BENQ AH700ST can be connected to multiple devices at once but can only display one full screen at a time. To select a source:

1. Press the SOURCE button on the remote control or projector. A source selection bar will appear.

2. Press ▲/▼ until your desired signal source is selected, and then press OK.

Alternatively, the projector can automatically search for available signals at startup if Auto Source Search is enabled in Advanced Menu > Display.

Cleaning the Lens:

Clean the lens when you notice dirt or dust. Turn off the projector and let it cool completely before cleaning.

• Use a canister of compressed air to remove dust.

• For dirt or smears, use lens-cleaning paper or a soft cloth moistened with lens cleaner and gently wipe the surface.

• Never use abrasive pads, alkaline/acid cleaners, or volatile solvents like alcohol or benzene.

Cleaning the Projector Case:

Ensure the projector is properly shut down and unplugged before cleaning.

• To remove dirt or dust, wipe the case with a soft, lint-free cloth.

• For stubborn stains, moisten a soft cloth with water and a neutral pH detergent, then wipe the case.

Storing the Projector:

If storing for an extended time:

• Ensure the storage area’s temperature and humidity are within the recommended range.

• Retract the adjuster feet.

• Remove the battery from the remote control.

• Pack the projector in its original packing or equivalent.

Transporting the Projector:

It is recommended that you ship the projector with its original packing or equivalent.

You can extend the life of the projector’s light source by using different Light Source Modes and setting the Auto Power Off feature.

Setting the Light Source Mode:

Go to Advanced Menu > Picture > Advanced Color Settings > Light Source Mode. Setting the projector to ECO, SmartEco, or Custom mode extends light source life.

• Normal Mode: Provides full light source brightness.

• ECO Mode: Lowers brightness to extend life and decreases fan noise.

• SmartEco Mode: Automatically adjusts power depending on content brightness while optimizing display quality.

• Custom Mode: Enables the brightness adjustment bar so you can set a custom level.

Setting Auto Power Off:

This function automatically turns the projector off if no input signal is detected for a set period. To set it, go to Advanced Menu > System > Operation Settings > Power On/Off Settings > Auto Power Off and select a time interval.

The POWER, TEMP, and LIGHT indicators on your BENQ AH700ST display the projector’s status. Refer to the table below for descriptions. (◯: Off, 🟠: Orange On, 🟠✨: Orange Flashing, 🟢: Green On, 🟢✨: Green Flashing, 🔴: Red On, 🔴✨: Red Flashing)

If your BENQ AH700ST does not turn on, check the following:

• No power from the power cord: Plug the power cord firmly into the AC power jack on the projector and into a working power outlet. If the outlet has a switch, ensure it is switched on.

• Attempting to turn on during cooling process: If you recently turned the projector off, it needs to cool down. Wait until the cooling down process has completed before attempting to turn it on again.

If your BENQ AH700ST is on but not displaying a picture, try these steps:

• Check the video source: Ensure your video source (laptop, Blu-ray player, etc.) is turned on and connected correctly to the projector.

• Check the connection: Make sure the signal cable is securely plugged into both the projector and the source device.

• Select the correct input signal: Press the SOURCE key on the remote or projector and select the correct input signal for your connected device.

If the projected image from your BENQ AH700ST is blurry, consider the following solutions:

• Adjust the focus: The projection lens may not be correctly focused. Use the FOCUS button on the remote to adjust the focus until the image is sharp.

• Check alignment: The projector and the screen may not be aligned properly. Adjust the projection angle and direction, as well as the height of the projector if necessary, to ensure it is projecting squarely onto the screen.

If the image displayed by your BENQ AH700ST appears abnormal (e.g., distorted colors, lines), please check the following:

• Ensure the video source cable is connected properly and securely to both the projector and the source device.

• Make sure the video source device is turned on.

• Ensure that the air intake and exhaust vents on the projector are not blocked, as overheating can affect performance.

If the Auto Screen Fit feature on your BENQ AH700ST does not function correctly, here are some potential causes and remedies:

• Adjustment markers are outside the screen: Adjust the physical distance between the projector and the screen until the markers are within the screen’s border.

• Screen ratio is incorrect: If the ratio is wrong but the markers are inside, try adjusting the projection angle to ensure the projector aims directly at the screen. You can also use the Corner Fit function to manually fill the corners.

• The projector cannot detect the screen:

– Dim the ambient light in the room.

– Clean the focus lens to ensure it is not obstructed.

– Ensure the screen shape is a right rectangle and its border is at least 6 cm wide.

– Ensure the screen border is matted black or dark gray to provide a sharp contrast against the light color of the screen.

If the remote control for your BENQ AH700ST is not working, try these solutions:

• Check the batteries: The batteries may be out of power. Replace both batteries with new ones.

• Remove obstacles: Ensure there is nothing between the remote control and the projector’s IR sensors that could block the signal.

• Check the distance: You may be too far away from the projector. Stand within 8 meters (26 feet) of the projector when using the remote.
