BEAUTIFUL 19019 (01) PDF SUMMARY:

When using electrical appliances, what basic safety precautions should be followed?

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including reading all instructions and not touching hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs and protect against electric shock by not immersing the cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Unplug from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning, and allow it to cool before putting on or taking off parts. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Contact Consumer Service, and do not attempt to repair the unit yourself, as this will void the warranty. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries. Do not use outdoors. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter or touch hot surfaces. Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven. To disconnect, press the cancel button and then remove the plug from the wall outlet. Do not use the appliance for other than its intended use. Oversize foods, metal foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted in the toaster, as they may involve a risk of fire or electric shock. A fire may occur if toasters are covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids. Do not attempt to dislodge food when the toaster is plugged in.

What are some additional important safeguards to consider when using the toaster?

It is important to be aware of hot surfaces, as the appliance generates heat and escaping steam during use. Proper precautions must be taken to prevent the risk of burns, fires, or other injury to persons or damage to property. A person who has not read and understood all operating, toasting, and safety instructions is not qualified to operate this appliance. All users of this appliance must read and understand the instruction manual before operating or cleaning it. If the appliance falls or accidentally becomes immersed in water, unplug it from the wall outlet immediately. Do not reach into the water. When using this appliance, provide adequate air space above and on all sides for air circulation. Do not operate this appliance while it is touching or near curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dishtowels, or other flammable materials. To reduce the risk of fire, do not leave this appliance unattended during use. If the appliance begins to malfunction during use, immediately press the cancel button and unplug the cord. Do not use or attempt to repair a malfunctioning appliance; contact Consumer Service. The cord to this appliance should only be plugged directly into a 120V AC electrical wall outlet. Do not use this appliance in an unstable position. Use the toaster on a hard, flat surface. Do not place it near a flame or heat or on a soft surface, such as carpet. Avoid placing it where it may tip over during use. Dropping the toaster could cause it to malfunction. The toaster is equipped with an anti-jam feature. If any toast or toaster food gets jammed, the toaster will shut off automatically. Never attempt to dislodge food inside the toaster while it is plugged in, as doing so could cause an electrical shock hazard or a risk of fire. This appliance is hot during operation and retains heat for some time after turning off. Always use oven mitts when handling hot materials and allow metal parts to cool before cleaning. Do not place anything on top of the toaster while it is operating or while it is hot.

What should you not toast in the toaster?

Do not toast pastries with runny fillings or frosting. Do not toast torn slices of bread. Do not place buttered bread or wrapped food into the toaster. Do not toast small-size breads, mini-baguettes, or breadsticks.

What should you know about the plug?

The appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician, and do not modify the plug in any way.

What should you know about the cord?

A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

What is the plasticizer warning?

To prevent plasticizers from migrating to the finish of the counter top or table top or other furniture, place non-plastic coasters or place mats between the appliance and the finish of the counter top or table top. Failure to do so may cause the finish to darken; permanent blemishes may occur, or stains can appear.

What should you know about electric power?

If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other appliances, the appliance may not operate properly. It should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other appliances.

What are the parts of the 2-slice toaster?

The 2-slice toaster has toasting slots/carriages, a high-lift toasting lever, automatic centering guides, a slide-out crumb tray, a touch-activated display control panel, a polarized plug, cord storage, and non-skid feet.

What should you know about the touch-activated display control panel?

The touch-activated display control panel is a screen that only shows up when it is needed. When the toaster is plugged in, a tone will sound, the control panel will illuminate for 1 second, then turn off, and the button will pulse slowly on and off. When the button is pressed, a tone will sound, and the control panel will illuminate and remain active for 20 seconds. Press the button to stop any operation, to raise the toasting carriages, and to turn the toaster off.

What are the functions on the touch-activated display control panel?

The touch-activated display control panel has toast, bagel, and frozen functions, as well as reheat and cancel options. It also has + and – buttons and a 7-bar browning level indicator.

How do you use the bagel function?

Slice bagels or English muffins in half and place one half in each toasting slot with the cut sides facing the center of the toasting slots. Bagels and English muffins will toast perfectly without burning the outsides. Set the browning indicator to the desired toast color. Toasting time is altered to give the same degree of browning achieved with unfrozen bread.

How do you use the reheat function?

The reheat function provides up to 30 seconds of low heat to previously toasted foods.

How do you use the cancel button?

Press the cancel button at any time to interrupt the toasting cycle, to raise the toasting carriages, and to turn the toaster off.

How do you control the browning level?

The + and – buttons control the browning level, from 1 (light) to 7 (dark). While toasting, the browning level indicator bars will pulse and count down to a single bar before the toasting lever rises and the toaster turns off. Press + to increase browning from 1 (light) to 7 (dark), and press – to reduce browning from 7 (dark) to 1 (light). The last chosen browning level will remain active for the next batch.

What should you do before using the toaster for the first time?

Remove all packaging materials, including those that may be inside the toasting slots. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly, but do not use abrasive cleaners. Do not place the toaster, cord, or plug in water. Make sure the crumb tray is locked into position at the back of the toaster. Unwrap the power cord from the cord storage area on the underside of the toaster and plug it into a 120V AC electrical outlet. Run 2 cycles of toast without bread before the first use. The toaster may emit a thin smoke on the initial use, but this is normal and not detrimental to the performance of the toaster.

How do you operate the toaster?

Make sure the crumb tray is locked into position at the back of the toaster. Check to be sure no bread or other objects are inside the toasting slots and place the toaster on a flat, level, heat-resistant surface. Remove all protective wrappings from food before placing it into the toasting slot(s). Avoid toasting torn bread slices or small pieces of toaster food that may get lodged in the toasting slot(s). Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet. A tone will sound, the control panel will illuminate for 1 second, then turn off, and the button will pulse slowly on and off until use.

How do you use the toast, bagel, and frozen functions?

Use either toasting slot when toasting only 1 piece of bread or toaster food, and always use slices or foods that fit freely into toasting slots. Add bread, bagels, English muffins, toaster foods, or frozen bread or bagels to the toasting slots. Press the pulsing button. For the toaster function, just lower the lever to begin toasting. Adjust the browning level from 4 (medium) by pressing + or -. Press bagel or frozen. A tone will sound. The button, cancel button, and any function button will illuminate when active, and all other buttons will vanish when not in use. Lower the toasting lever to begin toasting. For toasting frozen bagels, press bagel first, and the bagel button will stay illuminated and the frozen button will begin to flash. Press frozen, and both bagel and frozen will be illuminated. Adjust the browning level as needed and lower the lever to begin toasting. While toasting, the chosen browning level lighted bars will pulse and count down to a single light as the cycle progresses. The browning level indicator will act as a progressive timer to show how much time remains until the toasting cycle will be completed. At the end of the toasting cycle, 2 audible tones will sound, and toasting carriages will rise automatically. Remove bread or toaster food from the toasting slot(s) and use care, as the top of the toaster will still be hot. Never use a fork or sharp-edged utensil to remove toast, because that may damage the heating element or cause injury. After 20 seconds of inactivity, the control panel will darken, the button will pulse slowly on and off, and the toaster will advance to sleep mode. Unplug the toaster from the wall outlet when not in use and before cleaning.

How do you use the reheat function?

Add bread, bagels, English muffins, toaster foods, or frozen bread or bagels to the toasting slots and press the pulsing button. Press reheat, and a tone will sound. The button, cancel button, and reheat button will illuminate, and all other buttons will vanish when not in use. Lower the toasting lever to begin toasting. At the end of the toasting cycle, 2 audible tones will sound, and toasting carriages will rise automatically.

Function Selection Guide

INGREDIENT BROWNING BARS NOTES
Toaster Pastry 4 ( ) MEDIUM* CAUTION! DO NOT toast pastries with runny fillings or frosting.
Non-Frozen Shelf Pastry 2 ( ) or 1 ( ) LIGHT CAUTION: For best results, follow the instructions printed on the pastry package.
Thicker Convenience Foods 4 ( ) MEDIUM to 7 ( ) DARK If the package does not have specific browning instructions, use default. CAUTION: Never leave Toaster unattended when toasting pastries.

How do you remove lodged foods?

If, after toasting, a piece of bread or any other toaster food becomes lodged in either of the toasting slots, unplug the toaster and allow it to cool. Turn the toaster upside down and shake the food loose. To avoid injury or damage to the heating element, never use a fork or sharp-edged utensil to remove toast or toaster food. The toaster is equipped with an anti-jam feature, and if any toast or toaster food gets jammed, the toaster will shut off automatically.

What are some beautiful toasting tips?

Remove all protective wrappings from food before placing it into the toasting slot(s). For best results, clean the crumb tray frequently. Do not block top openings and do not place any object over any top opening. Do not add butter to breads, pita, bagels, or English muffins, as melted butter may cause fire. When toasting more than one slice of bread, use slices of similar size, thickness, and freshness. Stale bread, thin bread, or sweet bread products, such as tea cakes and fruit loaf, brown quickly and should be lightly toasted.

What user maintenance is required?

This appliance requires little maintenance and contains no user-serviceable parts. Any servicing requiring disassembly other than cleaning must be performed by a qualified appliance repair technician.

Care & Cleaning Instructions

Do not immerse the toaster, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid. Be sure the toaster is unplugged before cleaning. To clean the crumb tray, push to release the crumb tray from the back of the toaster. Wipe the crumb tray with a clean, damp cloth and replace it. Push firmly until an audible click is heard as the crumb tray is fully inserted and locked into place in the bottom of the toaster. To clean the exterior, wipe the toaster’s stainless steel exterior with a clean, damp cloth, and do not use abrasive cleaners. Do not put the cord or plug in water or liquid.

Storing Instructions

Unplug the unit and allow it to cool, then clean before storing. Store the toaster in its box in a clean, dry place. Never store the toaster while it is hot or still plugged in. Never wrap the cord tightly around the appliance; use the cord storage area on the bottom of the toaster. Be sure the crumb tray is pushed all the way into the back of the toaster. Do not put any stress on the cord where it enters the unit, as it could cause the cord to fray and break.
