To properly size your equipment and calculate the volume for treatments, use the following formula: Average Length x Average Width x Average Depth x 7.5 = Total Gallons in Pond.

Calculating pond volume before construction and re-calculating after the pond is built ensures the actual volume is known for accurate dosing of bacteria and medications.

To limit the transitional volume of water needed to get the system cycling, the stream surface area should be half of the pond surface area or less. Use these formulas:

Maximum Area Of Stream: Average Length of Pond x Average Width of Pond ÷ 2 = Maximum Area of Stream

Minimum Area Of Pond (If You Know Your Stream Size): Average Length of Stream x Average Width of Stream x 2 = Minimum Area of Pond

Whenever possible, it is best to position the Skimmer and FilterFalls directly across from each other at opposite ends of the pond. This setup creates a current that pulls surface debris into the Skimmer. If they are placed too close together or the pond has an unusual shape, dead areas can occur. These dead areas can be eliminated with the use of multiple falls or multiple skimmers.

Step 1. Determine the surface level of the water in the pond.

Step 2. Excavate a hole that is a few inches wider and longer than the Skimmer body. For the ATLANTIC PS4600, the approximate depth of the hole should be 16 to 17 inches.

Step 3. Ensure the bottom of the hole is level side-to-side and front-to-back. The skimmer should be set on undisturbed earth to prevent settling.

Step 4. Place the Skimmer enclosure into the hole and check that the top is level front-to-back and side-to-side.

Step 5. Verify the water level falls between 1 1/4 inches and 1 1/2 inches below the top of the weir door opening.

Step 6. Place stones inside the enclosure to weigh it down, install the solid support bars, and loosely backfill the enclosure on all sides, lightly compacting as you go.

Step 1. Hold the liner up against the face of the Skimmer, allowing a minimum of 2 inches to extend above the top of the enclosure. Leave slack in the liner below the weir opening to avoid strain if soil settles.

Step 2. Clean the front surface of the Skimmer and the back of the liner.

Step 3. Clip the liner in place with spring clips. Use a sharp razor knife to cut a hole in the liner for the weir door using the hole in the face of the Skimmer as a guide.

Step 4. Remove the spring clips and pull the liner away. Apply a consistent bead of fish-safe RTV Silicone Sealant around the weir door opening on all four sides, approximately 3/4 inch away from the opening directly on top of the bolt holes.

Step 5. Return the liner to its original position and replace the spring clips.

Step 1. Unlatch the weir door and lower it to the fully open position. Insert the assembly into the Skimmer opening and push the frame tight against the Skimmer face.

Step 2. Line up the holes and pierce the liner in the top corners. Loosely fasten the top corners using the supplied 1/4-20 machine screws and serrated flange nuts.

Step 3. Install two screws in the bottom corners of the weir door frame.

Step 4. Install the remaining screws. Do not fully tighten any screws until all have been installed.

Step 5. Use a hand-held screwdriver to tighten the screws until they are snug. The serrations on the flange nut eliminate the need for a wrench. Do not over-tighten.

The ATLANTIC PS4600 does not come with a pre-drilled pump outlet, allowing flexibility for the outlet location. Drill-points are provided on both sides of the enclosure to show the proper location for drilling. For a 2 inch PVC installation, use a 2 1/2 inch hole saw at the provided drill-point.

Step 1. Select the panel for entry and use the provided drill-points. For a 2 inch bulkhead, use a 3 inch hole saw.

Step 2. Remove the retaining nut and plastic friction washer. Note that the retaining nut has reverse threads; turn clockwise to loosen.

Step 3. From the inside of the FilterFalls, insert the threaded end of the bulkhead into the hole to sandwich the rubber gasket between the flange and the inside wall.

Step 4. Slip the friction washer over the threaded end on the outside and install the retaining nut. Tighten by hand and finish with a half turn from a wrench by turning counterclockwise.

FilterFalls should be placed on undisturbed soil and must be level side-to-side. When checking the level front-to-back, the unit should always be installed tilted slightly forward about 1/4 inch to ensure water does not leak out over the back of the enclosure. Use rocks to weigh the unit down during backfilling and liner connection. Do not completely backfill until all plumbing and liner attachments are finished.

Step 1. Drape a minimum of 6 inches of liner over the top of the enclosure and use spring clips to hold it. Leave slack below the spillway.

Step 2. Use a sharp razor knife to cut the spillway opening in the liner using the inside of the spillway as a guide.

Step 3. Pull the liner away and apply fish-safe RTV silicone to the face of the FilterFalls along the center line of the threaded inserts.

Step 4. Return the liner and secure the liner flange, starting with the center screw and working outward. Use a hand-held screwdriver only; screws should be snug to make a seal without stripping the inserts or cracking the flange.

When installing a Triton Check Valve with the ATLANTIC PS4600, use the following reference marks on the discharge pipe based on your pump model:

TT1500, TT2000, TT3000, TT4000: D

TT5000, TT6000: 2

SH1450, SH2050, SH3600: G

SH5000, SH6500: D

PAF-20, PAF-25, PAF-40, PAF-75: 4

A-05: 5

A-05L, A-21: 4

Note: If the mark is a letter, use the 1 1/2 inch threaded end. If the mark is a number, use the 2 inch threaded end.

Step 1. Use the provided drill points on either side of the skimmer and drill a 7/8 inch hole using a spade bit or hole saw.

Step 2. Insert the Auto Fill, ensuring the gasket is on the water side and the plastic retaining nut is on the outside.

Step 3. Tighten the retaining nut by hand, being careful not to over-tighten.

Step 4. Connect to a water supply (garden hose, irrigation line, or PVC) using the included fittings and thread sealant.

Step 5. Adjust the water level by loosening the wing nut and raising or lowering the height of the float. The kit operates at a flow rate of 0.5 to 1.5 gpm with a maximum inlet pressure of 80 psi.

Step 1. Locate the drill-point on the back of the skimmer, which positions the bottom of the overflow pipe approximately 1 inch above the recommended water level.

Step 2. Drill a 3 inch hole and install an HA2000 bulkhead fitting.

Step 3. Install a 2 inch MTA (Male Thread Adaptor) into the bulkhead using silicone on the threads. Tighten until snug.

Step 4. Use PVC glue and cleaner to secure the PVC flex hose into the MTA.
