If any of the above items is damaged or missing, contact your retailer. Items not listed are purchased separately.

• Unplug the power cord from the wall socket before touching any component.

• Before handling components, use a grounded wrist strap or touch a safely grounded object (like a power supply case) to prevent damage from static electricity.

• Hold components by the edges to avoid touching the ICs on them.

• When you uninstall a component, place it on a grounded antistatic pad or in its original bag.

• Before installing or removing any component, ensure the power supply is off or the power cord is detached. Failure to do so may cause severe damage to the motherboard, peripherals, or components.

You may install Non-ECC DDR5 DIMMs into the DIMM sockets. For optimal performance, it is recommended to populate the DIMM_A2 and DIMM_B2 slots first when installing one or two memory modules. For four modules, populate all slots.

• The default memory operation frequency depends on its Serial Presence Detect (SPD). Some overclocking modules may operate at a lower frequency than marked.

• For system stability, use a more efficient memory cooling system to support a full memory load or overclocking.

• Always install DIMMs with the same CAS Latency. For optimum compatibility, it’s recommended to install memory modules of the same version or data code (D/C) from the same vendor.

IMPORTANT! Connect a chassis fan to the chassis fan connectors when using multiple graphics cards for better thermal environment.

The PCIEX16(G5) slot features a PCIe Slot Q-Release button to easily remove an expansion card.

1. Press the PCIe Slot Q-Release button until a click is heard, then stop pressing it.

2. If the button does not bounce back after you stop pressing, the expansion card has been successfully released.

3. Lift and remove the expansion card. The button should bounce back up after the card has been removed.

The Fan and Pump headers allow you to connect fans or pumps to cool the system. DO NOT forget to connect fan cables; insufficient air flow can damage components. Ensure cables are fully inserted.

For water cooling kits, connect the pump connector to the AIO_PUMP header. When connecting a single CPU fan, you can use either the CPU_FAN or CPU_OPT header. If connecting two CPU fans, use both CPU_FAN and CPU_OPT headers, and ensure both fans are the same brand and model.

The Clear CMOS header (CLRTC) allows you to clear the Real Time Clock (RTC) RAM in the CMOS, which contains date, time, system passwords, and system setup parameters.

To erase the RTC RAM:

1. Turn OFF the computer and unplug the power cord.

2. Short-circuit pins 1-2 of the CLRTC header with a metal object or jumper cap for about 5-10 seconds.

3. Plug the power cord and turn ON the computer.

4. Hold down the <Del> key during the boot process and enter BIOS setup to re-enter data.

CAUTION! DO NOT short-circuit the pins except when clearing the RTC RAM. Short-circuiting or placing a jumper cap at other times will cause system boot failure!

The Q-LEDs check key components (CPU, DRAM, VGA, and booting devices) during the motherboard booting process. If an error is found, the critical component’s LED stays lit up until the problem is solved.

• CPU (RED): Indicates a CPU-related issue.

• DRAM (YELLOW): Indicates a memory-related issue.

• VGA (WHITE): Indicates a graphics card-related issue.

• BOOT (YELLOW GREEN): Indicates a booting device-related issue.

The Q-LEDs provide the most probable cause of an error code as a starting point for troubleshooting. The actual cause may vary.

The Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet port has two LEDs: Activity/Link LED and Speed LED.

CAUTION! Ensure you install a CPU designed for the LGA1851 socket only. The CPU fits in only one correct orientation. Do not force it into the socket. Unplug all power cables before installation.

1. Push the load lever to the side (A) and then lift it up (B) to open the retention plate.

2. Lift the load lever (A) to fully open the socket, then lift the retention plate (B).

3. Align the triangle mark on the CPU with the triangle mark on the socket corner, and ensure the notches on the CPU align with the tabs in the socket. Carefully place the CPU into the socket.

4. Lower the retention plate (A) over the CPU, then lower the load lever (B).

5. Secure the load lever under the retention tab. The PnP cap will automatically come off.

IMPORTANT! Install a heatsink or AIO cooler after installing the CPU.

To install a DIMM:

1. Push the retention clip outward to unlock the DIMM slot.

2. Align the notch on the DIMM with the key in the socket and firmly insert the DIMM into the slot until the clip snaps back in place.

To remove a DIMM:

1. Simultaneously press the retention clip outward (A).

2. Lift the DIMM module up and away from the slot (B).

1. If present, loosen the screws from the M.2 heatsink(s) and lift to remove it.

2. (Optional) If installing a single-sided M.2 module (2280 or 22110 length), install the bundled M.2 rubber. Do not install the rubber for double-sided modules.

3. Install your M.2 module into the M.2 slot.

4. Secure the M.2 module using either the M.2 Q-Latch or the bundled screw stand:

• Using the M.2 Q-Latch: Push the M.2 module down until it is secured by the M.2 Q-Latch.

• Using the screw stand: Install the bundled screw stand into the appropriate length screw hole, then secure the M.2 module using the screw stand’s screw.

5. If you removed a heatsink, remove the plastic film from the thermal pads on the bottom of the heatsink.

6. Replace the heatsink(s) and secure it using its screws.

1. Your motherboard comes with a pre-installed I/O shield. If you have a model without one, install the bundled I/O Shield to the chassis rear I/O panel first.

2. Place the motherboard into the chassis, ensuring that its rear I/O ports are aligned to the chassis’ rear I/O panel.

3. Place nine (9) screws into the holes indicated by circles on the motherboard diagram to secure it to the chassis. Place the amount of screws according to your installation situation.

CAUTION! DO NOT over-tighten the screws! Doing so can damage the motherboard.

Connect the bundled ASUS Wi-Fi moving antenna connector to the Wi-Fi ports at the back of the chassis. Ensure the antenna is securely installed and is at least 20 cm away from all persons.

BIOS FlashBack™ allows you to update the BIOS without entering the existing BIOS or operating system.

1. Download the latest BIOS version for this motherboard.

2. Launch the BIOSRenamer.exe application to automatically rename the file to the correct BIOS CAP filename (A5581.cap), then copy it to your USB storage device.

3. Plug the 24-pin power connector to the motherboard and turn on the power supply (no need to power on the system). Insert the USB storage device into the USB port with the BIOS FlashBack™ function (labeled on the rear I/O panel).

4. Press the BIOS FlashBack™ button for three (3) seconds until the BIOS FlashBack™ LED blinks three times, indicating the function is enabled.

5. Wait until the light goes out, indicating that the BIOS updating process is completed.

CAUTION!

• Do not unplug the USB drive, power system, or press the Clear CMOS button while the BIOS update is ongoing.

• If the light flashes for five seconds and turns solid, BIOS FlashBack™ is not operating properly. This may be due to improper USB device installation or file format errors. Restart the system to turn off the light and try again.

1. After making all the connections, replace the system case cover.

2. Ensure that all switches are off.

3. Connect the power cord to the power connector at the back of the system chassis.

4. Connect the power cord to a power outlet equipped with a surge protector.

5. Turn on devices in the following order:

a. Monitor

b. External storage devices (starting with the last device on the chain)

c. System power

6. After applying power, the system power LED on the front panel case will light up. The system will then run the power-on self tests (POST).

7. During power on, hold down the <Delete> key to enter the BIOS Setup.

IMPORTANT! Ensure to load the BIOS default settings first to ensure system compatibility and stability. Select the Load Optimized Defaults item under the Exit menu or press the <F5> hotkey.

1. Insert the USB flash disk that contains the latest BIOS file into a USB port.

2. Enter the Advanced Mode of the BIOS setup program. Go to the Tool menu to select ASUS EZ Flash Utility and press <Enter>.

3. Press the Left arrow key to switch to the Drive field.

4. Press the Up/Down arrow keys to find the USB flash disk that contains the latest BIOS, and then press <Enter>.

5. Press the Right arrow key to switch to the Folder field.

6. Press the Up/Down arrow keys to find the BIOS file, and then press <Enter> to perform the BIOS update process. Reboot the system when the update process is done.

CAUTION! DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS to prevent system boot failure!

The ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3 utility is an auto recovery tool that allows you to restore the BIOS file if it fails or gets corrupted during an update.

1. Download the latest BIOS version for this motherboard.

2. Rename the file using one of these methods:

• Launch the BIOSRenamer.exe application to automatically rename the file.

• Manually rename the file to the BIOS CAP filename specified in the Specifications summary section (A5581.cap).

• Manually rename the file to ASUS.CAP.

3. Copy the renamed file to your USB storage device.

4. Turn on the system.

5. Insert the USB flash drive containing the BIOS file into a USB port.

6. The utility automatically checks for the BIOS file. When found, it reads the file and enters ASUS EZ Flash automatically.

7. The system requires you to enter BIOS Setup to recover settings. To ensure system compatibility and stability, press the <F5> hotkey to load default BIOS values.

CAUTION! DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS! Doing so may cause system boot failure!

The motherboard supports the following RAID configurations:

• RAID 0 (Data striping): Optimizes two identical hard disk drives to read and write data in parallel, interleaved stacks, improving data access and storage speed. Requires two new identical hard disk drives.

• RAID 1 (Data mirroring): Copies and maintains an identical image of data from one drive to a second drive for data protection and fault tolerance. Requires two new drives or an existing drive and a new drive of the same size or larger.

• RAID 5: Stripes both data and parity information across three or more hard disk drives, offering better HDD performance, fault tolerance, and higher storage capacity. Requires a minimum of three identical hard disk drives.

• RAID 10: Combines data striping and data mirroring without parity. It provides the benefits of both RAID 0 and RAID 1. Requires four new hard disk drives or one existing drive and three new drives.
