What are the important safety instructions for this toaster?

Please read these instructions before operating and retain for future reference.

To protect against electrical hazard do not immerse any part of the appliance or cord in water or any other liquid.

Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children.

Always use the appliance on a dry, level surface.

Do not use this appliance outdoors.

Always unplug from the plug socket when not in use and before cleaning.

Do not operate the appliance if damaged, after an appliance malfunctions or it has been damaged in any manner.

In the interest of safety, regular periodic close checks should be carried out on the supply cord to ensure no damage is evident. Should there be any signs that the cord is damaged in the slightest degree, the entire appliance should be returned be authorized service engineer.

Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter or touch hot surfaces. Allow unit to cool before wrapping cord around base for storage.

Care must be taken not to touch any hot surfaces, do not store or cover the appliance until it has full cooled down.

CAUTION is required on surfaces where heat may cause a problem – an insulated heat pad is recommended.

Do not use the toaster without the slide out crumb tray in place. The crumb tray should be cleaned regularly. Do not allow crumbs to build up in the tray.

What are the specific warnings for using this toaster?

WARNING! Never attempt to extract Jammed toast, muffins or any other item with a knife or any other object, as contact with live elements may cause electrocution. Allow the appliance to cool down, unplug and carefully remove the bread.

WARNING! Never operate the toaster on its side. To prevent damage to the toaster, DO NOT toast with extremely runny ingredients such as butter, jam and other sugary ingredients. Adding any food substances to bread, muffins or crumpets can cause an electric shock and /or fire. This toaster is for toasting of bread, crumpets and muffins only.

CAUTION: The bread may burn, therefore do not use the toaster near or below combustible material, such as curtains. Never leave the toaster unattended during use.

What should I know about using the toaster for the first time?

NOTE: THE FIRST TIME THE TOASTER IS USED, A SLIGHT ODOUR MAY DEVELOP. THIS IS ENTIRELY HARMLESS AND WILL SOON DISSIPATE. ENSURE THERE IS ADEQUATE VENTILATION WHEN USING THE APPLIANCE.


How do I operate the toaster?

1. Plug the power cord into a suitable mains supply socket and turn the power on.

2. Insert slices of bread into the bread slots.

3. Adjust the toasting settings to your preferred setting (1: Light / 4: Medium / 7: Dark) and press down the lever to start. To re-adjust the settings during toasting, press the CANCEL button.

4. You can check the toasting progress during toasting cycle, simply by lifting-up the lever to view the brownness of the toasted bread. This will not interrupt or cause cancellation of the toasting cycle.

5. After completion of each toasting cycle, the bread will pop up automatically and the toaster will switch itself off.

6. Carefully remove the bread from the toaster. BEWARE OF HOT SURFACES WHEN REMOVING BREAD!

7. Allow the toaster to cool down between each use.


How do I toast frozen bread?

To toast frozen bread, place the bread into the bread slots and select the desired Browning Setting. Press the carriage control lever down until it clicks into place then press the Frozen Button.


How do I clean the toaster?

Your toaster comes with a removable, slide out crumb tray. This is a quick and convenient way to remove crumbs. Always ensure that the toaster is unplugged and has cooled down before removing and emptying the crumb tray. Clean the crumb tray with a damp cloth and always dry the tray properly before replacing it into the toaster.

Use a stiff brush to remove any burnt-on crumbs.

Wipe the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth.

Do not use a sharp object or abrasive substance to clean the toaster.
