When using the ANKO YS-AC03, please adhere to the following safety precautions:

• Carefully read the instruction manual before use.

• Keep the appliance out of reach of young children and ensure they are supervised.

• This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities unless supervised.

• Ensure the appliance does not get wet. Do not use with wet hands or immerse in water or other liquids.

• Always operate the appliance from a power source of the same voltage, frequency, and rating as indicated on the product identification plate.

• Do not operate the appliance if it has been dropped or damaged.

• Use only accessories supplied with the product.

• Do not install the unit near heat sources, on uneven surfaces, or outdoors.

• Maintain at least 300mm clearance around the sides, back, front, and top.

• Unplug during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.

• Do not block ventilation openings or insert foreign objects into the grille.

• Ensure the fan is switched off from mains power before removing the guard.

• Always place the unit on a stable surface when operating.

• Turn off and unplug the unit before moving it. Move it slowly and carefully to avoid water overflow.

If using an extension cord with the ANKO YS-AC03, please follow these instructions:

• The technical specifications of the extension cord must match or exceed the technical specifications of this appliance.

• Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of a work surface or come into contact with hot surfaces.

• If the cord or plug are worn or damaged, do not use.

• Unplug from the power socket by grasping the plug body; do not pull on the cord.

The ANKO YS-AC03 Evaporative Cooler is most effective in dry climates where humidity is low. Its performance deteriorates as humidity increases.

Evaporative coolers not only cool but also humidify the air, making them less effective in regions that are already very humid. They are generally suitable for areas with hot, dry summers. In a humid area, the cooling ability may be poor as only a small amount of water can evaporate.

Evaporative coolers like the ANKO YS-AC03 require a constant source of hot, dry air to work effectively. Leaving a door or window open allows for this airflow. It also helps to keep the overall humidity down in the room. The more humid the room becomes, the less effective the cooler will be.

Before using the ANKO YS-AC03, perform the following checks:

1. Make sure the cooler unit is unplugged from the power point.

2. Ensure the rear Mesh Filter (with Evap Paper attached) is fitted correctly to the rear of the cooler.

3. Check that the Rubber Drain Plug in the bottom of the water tank is in place and fitted correctly to prevent water from leaking.

Follow these steps to fill the water tank:

1. To open the water tank, rotate the Water Tank Lock anticlockwise 90°.

2. Grasp the handle in the lower front of the water tank and pull it out. The tank cannot be pulled out fully, which prevents accidental spillage.

3. Ensure the rubber drain plug at the bottom of the tank is pushed all the way down into the drain hole.

4. Place the cooler on a flat, level surface in its final operating position to avoid spillage after filling.

5. Fill the water tank with fresh, clean, cold water until the level reaches the Maximum mark on the rear of the Water Tank. DO NOT OVERFILL.

6. Gently push the water tank back in and rotate the Water Tank Lock to secure it.

Note: If you need to move the cooler after filling, ensure the water level is only ¼ full or less to reduce the chance of spilling.

Yes, you can add ice blocks to the water tank to help cool the water and air. Add the ice first, and then fill with water.

However, do not fill the tank with any liquid other than clean cold water. Do not add any other additives to the water.

When the water has been used up, the water pump will automatically turn off. The indicator light above the “Cool” button will blink, and the unit will emit three beeps. You should refill the water tank when the level reaches the “Min” level mark, when the indicator light blinks, or turn off the “Cool” function.

The ANKO YS-AC03 has four castor wheels for mobility. To prevent the unit from moving once in position:

• To lock: Press the levers down, which are located on the front of the castor wheels.

• To unlock: Lift the levers up.

You can adjust the airflow direction both vertically and horizontally:

• Vertical Adjustment (Manual): The Horizontal louvres need to be manually adjusted. Grasp the tab on the middle louvre and move it up or down to your desired position.

• Horizontal Adjustment (Automatic): The Vertical louvres, located behind the front horizontal louvres, will swing back and forth automatically if you select the “Swing” function.

To install the batteries in the remote control:

1. First, remove the back of the remote control by sliding the battery cover off.

2. Insert two 1.5V 2 x AAA batteries inside the battery compartment, matching the polarity icons (+ and -) with those in the compartment.

3. Refit the cover securely.

Do not mix new and old batteries or batteries of different types (e.g., Alkaline with Non-Alkaline). To prevent corrosion, remove the batteries if the remote will not be used for a lengthy period.

Insert the power plug into a power point and switch it on. A short “Beep” will be heard. Press the “ON/OFF” button on the control panel or remote control. The unit will start in the default “Low” Speed and Normal Mode.

This cooler has a “Memory” function that remembers the last used settings (except for the Cool function, Sleep mode, and Timer function) when turned off with the On/Off button, provided it is not unplugged between uses.

Press the “Mode” button on the control panel or remote to select between “Normal”, “Natural”, and “Sleep” fan wind patterns.

• NOR (Normal): This is the default mode when the unit is first turned on. The wind remains a constant flow. There is no indicator light for this mode.

• NAT (Natural): This variable speed wind mode automatically selects one of three patterns to simulate the variable speed wind you would experience outdoors.

• SLP (Sleep): This mode creates wind patterns similar to the Natural mode. However, if the fan is set to Medium or High speed, the pattern will drop a speed level after approximately 30 minutes, and again after another 30 minutes, until it reaches the low fan speed pattern, where it will remain.

By default, the unit starts at “Low” speed. To change the fan speed, press the “FAN SPEED” button on the control panel or the “SPEED” button on the remote. Each press advances the speed setting (Low, Medium, High), as indicated by the lights above the button. Continue to press the button to cycle through the speeds.

To set the appliance to turn off automatically, use the “TIMER” button:

1. Press the “TIMER” button once to set the timer for 0.5 hours.

2. Each consecutive press will advance the timer in 0.5h increments until it reaches a maximum time of 7.5 hours.

3. The total off-time is indicated by the sum of the illuminated lights. For example, if the 0.5h, 2h, and 4h lights are on, the total time is 6.5 hours.

4. To turn the timer off or reset it, continue to press the “TIMER” button until it cycles back around and no time lights are illuminated.

To get cooler wind from the ANKO YS-AC03, press the “COOL” button. This activates the water pump inside the appliance, which circulates water over the evaporative paper, causing the air to be cooled as it passes through. The indicator light above the button will illuminate when this feature is on. Press the “COOL” button again to turn this function off. This function requires water in the tank to operate.

Press the “SWING” button if you want the vertical louvres (located behind the front horizontal louvres) to swing from left to right, distributing the air over a wider area. Press the button again to stop the vertical louvres from swinging, or to stop them at a desired position for a more focused wind direction.

Regularly clean the rear air inlet mesh filter to prevent it from becoming blocked.

1. Turn off and unplug the unit from mains power.

2. For a light clean, you can use a vacuum cleaner hose with a brush attachment. Ensure the mesh is dry before vacuuming.

3. For a thorough clean, remove the filter. Pull the top of the mesh housing out and then lift it up and out.

4. Wash the mesh filter in clean cold water with a soft brush.

5. The Evaporative Paper Pad attached to the inside of the filter is delicate. It only requires a rinse with clean cold water. Do not brush or scrub the Evaporative Paper Pad as you will damage it.

6. While the filter is removed, check that the water return tray and hole are clean and free from blockage.

7. To refit the filter, hook the two tabs at the bottom of the filter into the cooler first, then swing the top closed until it clips shut securely.

The water intake grille on the pump, located at the bottom of the water tank, may become blocked over time.

1. First, turn off and unplug the cooler from the power point.

2. Using a very soft brush or cloth, gently wipe the front of the pump’s grille to remove any debris.

3. Rinse out the water tank and refill with fresh clean water.

To store the ANKO YS-AC03, especially for long periods:

1. Switch off and unplug the unit from mains power.

2. Ensure all water is removed from the water tank. You can do this by taking the appliance outside and removing the rubber drain plug from inside the tank.

3. To ensure the inside is dry, run the unit with the fan on (but “Cool” function switched off) for 1-2 hours. More time may be needed depending on the humidity.

4. Coil the power cord loosely and place it next to the unit.

5. Remove the batteries from the remote control.

6. Once the appliance is totally dry, refit the water drain plug (if you removed it) and store the cooler in a dry, well-ventilated area.
