The ALPINE I209 is rated IP53 under IEC standard 60529 for resistance to dust and fresh water. This rating means the product is protected against dust with limited ingress and is protected against spraying fresh water up to 60 degrees from vertical. Although it is rated IP53, it is not impervious to dust or water damage in all situations.

Please be aware of the following terms of use and risks for your ALPINE I209:

• Dust and water resistance is not permanent; resistance may decrease as a result of normal wear or other damage to the product.

• Do not expose the unit to sea/salt water, chlorinated water, mud, detergent, or other liquids.

• Do not expose the unit to prolonged rain, fog, humidity, temperature changes, or other prolonged weather and environmental conditions. Condensation, moisture, or debris may accumulate in the product. Close vehicle windows, roof, and other openings to avoid exposure.

• If the product gets wet, dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.

• Open/close the product nose with care, as dust or water may enter.

Please note that liquid and dust damage are not covered under warranty. Failure to install the product as directed in the installation manual may degrade dust and water resistance.

The buttons on your ALPINE I209 have the following functions:

• (AUDIO) button: Displays the Audio/Visual screen. If the screen is already displayed, it changes the source.

• VOICE button: Depending on the connected smartphone, press to recall Siri function or voice recognition mode.

• ∧ / ∨ (UP/DOWN) button: Press to adjust the volume.

• (Favorite) button: Recalls the Favorite screen. Press and hold for at least 2 seconds to switch to the iDataLink mode screen (if connected).

• MENU / (Power Off) button: Recalls the Menu screen. Press and hold for at least 5 seconds to turn the power off.

• seek up / seek down button: Press to seek down/up a station in radio mode or down/up a track, chapter, etc., in other audio/visual sources.

• RESET switch: Resets the system of the unit.

• (NAV) button: Recalls the connected smartphone’s map screen. This function may not be available depending on the smartphone.

• Remote Sensor: Point the remote control transmitter towards this sensor within a range of 2 meters.

• (Camera) button: Recalls the Camera screen.

To turn the system on:

1. Turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position. The system turns on and displays the last screen that was shown before the ignition was turned off.

To turn the system off:

1. Press and hold the MENU/ (Power Off) button for at least 5 seconds to turn the power off.

You can turn the unit back on by pressing any button.

When using the ALPINE I209 for the first time, or after changing the car battery, you should press the RESET switch.

1. Turn off the unit power.

2. Press the RESET switch with a ballpoint pen or similar pointed object.

When the system is used for the first time, the language selection menu is displayed. Swipe the language list vertically, then touch your choice from the list of 23 languages. After selecting the language, the time setting screen is displayed. Adjust the hour and minute, then touch [OK] to confirm.

Adjusting the Volume:

Adjust the volume by pressing the ∧ or ∨ buttons. The volume can be set from 0 to 35. Volume decreases/increases continuously by pressing and holding the buttons.

Lowering Volume Quickly (Mute):

1. Press ∧ or ∨ to display the Volume adjustment screen.

2. Touch the speaker icon to activate the MUTE mode. The speaker icon will change, and the audio level will be 0.

3. To unmute, press the ∧ or ∨ button again.

You can operate the system using the touch panel on the screen. Be sure to touch the onscreen buttons lightly with the pad of your finger to avoid scratching the display.

• Touch operation: Touch a button or list item on the screen lightly. If there is no reaction, remove your finger. Onscreen buttons that cannot be operated are dimmed.

• Swipe operation: Move your finger lightly with a swipe to change screens or pages.

• Drag & Drop operation: Touch and hold the desired item, then drag it to its new location by moving your finger. Release your finger to place the item.

You can switch sources using the (AUDIO) button or from the Menu screen.

Using the (AUDIO) button:

During audio/visual playback, press the (AUDIO) button repeatedly to switch to the desired source. The available sources include Radio, USB/iPod, HDMI, Pandora, Bluetooth Audio, SiriusXM, AUX, and more, depending on what is connected and enabled.

Switching Sources from the Menu screen:

1. Press the MENU button. The menu screen is displayed.

2. Touch your desired source in the Audio source selecting area.

You can also edit the order and visibility of sources in the Menu screen by touching and holding a source icon for at least 2 seconds to enter the Edit Menu.

The Favorite Function allows you to easily recall frequently used items such as audio sources, contacts for shortcut dialing, and more.

1. Press the (Favorite) button to display the Favorite screen.

2. Touch your desired Favorite registered item to activate it.

You can register up to 54 functions. To edit the Favorite screen, touch the [Edit] icon on the screen. From there, you can add, delete, rename, and rearrange items.

You can set a BMP image that is stored on a USB flash drive as the opening screen. The image must meet the following format requirements:

• File format: BMP image

• Image size: 800 × 480 pixels (RGB 24 bit or less)

• Compression format: non-compressed

• Folder name: OPENINGFILE (saved to the first layer of the USB drive)

• File name: openingfile.bmp

To set the custom screen:

1. Connect the USB flash drive to the USB extension cable. A confirmation message will be displayed.

2. Touch [OK]. The update will start.

3. After the update is complete, a success message will be displayed.

4. After removing the USB flash drive, touch [OK].

To return the opening screen to its original image, you must use the “Clear All Settings” function, which will initialize all other settings as well.

Before pairing, ensure the Bluetooth setting on the unit is “On”.

1. Go to Setup -> Wireless -> Bluetooth and ensure it is set to “On”.

2. Select “Set Bluetooth Device”.

3. Touch the [Search] area of “No Device.” The unit will search for nearby Bluetooth devices.

4. From the list of found devices, touch the name of the device you want to connect.

5. Select whether you want to use the device for [Audio], [Hands-free], or [Both].

The Bluetooth registration process differs depending on your device. You may need to confirm a passkey on both the unit and your device to complete the pairing. Once registration is complete, a message will appear.

You can access sound settings from the General Setup menu or from the Shortcut Setup screen (swipe down from the audio source screen). The following adjustments are available:

• Balance/Fader: Adjust the sound balance between the left/right and front/rear speakers.

• Subwoofer Level: Adjust the output level of the subwoofer.

• Media Xpander (MX HD): Makes vocals or instruments sound more distinct. Different levels are available for different sources.

• Equalizer Presets: Choose from 10 preset equalizer settings (e.g., ROCK, POP, JAZZ).

• Parametric Equalizer (Dual HD EQ): Manually adjust the center frequency, bandwidth (Q Factor), and level for 9 different bands for front and rear speakers independently.

• Crossover (X-Over): Adjust the high-pass filter (HPF) and low-pass filter (LPF) for front, rear, and subwoofer speakers to limit the frequencies delivered to each.

• Time Correction (TCR): Adjust the sound delay for each speaker to create an optimal sound stage for your listening position.

• BASS ENGINE SQ: Choose from several types (Standard, Punch, Rich, etc.) to create the ideal Bass impact for your music.

You can adjust the picture quality for video and camera sources. Go to Setup -> General -> Picture Quality.

• Visual EQ Mode: Select a preset mode suitable for the subject image (Night, Soft, Sharp, Contrast).

• Brightness: Adjust the screen brightness from -15 to +15.

• Color of Picture: Adjust the color saturation from -15 to +15.

• Tint of Picture: Adjust the tint between Red (R15) and Green (G15).

• Image Contrast: Adjust the contrast from -15 to +15.

• Picture Quality (Sharpness): Adjust sharpness from -5 to +5.

You can also save two different sets of adjustments as [Preset 1] or [Preset 2].

For Apple CarPlay:

1. Ensure Apple CarPlay is turned On in the unit’s settings (Setup -> Source -> Apple CarPlay -> On).

2. Plug in your iPhone (iPhone 5 or later) using a Lightning to USB cable to the unit.

3. Press the MENU button and touch the [Apple CarPlay] icon to activate the mode.

For Android Auto:

1. Download the Android Auto App from the Google Play store to your smartphone.

2. Plug in your smartphone to the unit’s USB connector and follow the prompts to pair your smartphone.

3. Press the MENU button and touch the [Android Auto] icon to activate the mode.

You can listen to AM/FM and HD Radio stations on your ALPINE I209.

• Listening: Press the (AUDIO) button to select radio mode. Select the desired band (FM1/FM2/AM). Use the seek buttons to find stations.

• Presetting Stations Manually: Tune to a desired station. Touch and hold one of the preset numbers on the screen for at least 2 seconds to store it. You can store 12 stations for each band.

• Presetting Stations Automatically: Select a band, then touch and hold the [Auto Preset] icon. The tuner will automatically seek and store 12 strong stations.

• Direct Tune: Touch the [Direct Tune] icon and enter the frequency of a station directly using the numeric keypad.

The ALPINE I209 can play back music files (MP3/WMA/AAC/FLAC) and video files (AVI/MKV/MP4) from a USB flash drive.

1. Connect the USB flash drive to the unit’s USB port.

2. Press the (AUDIO) button to select USB mode.

3. Use the track up/down buttons to select the desired file. Touch the play/pause button to control playback.

4. To search for a specific song, touch the Quick Search button on the screen to browse by folder and file name.

For your safety, video is not displayed and only audio can be heard while driving.

When an optional SiriusXM Tuner is connected, you can perform the following operations:

• Listening: Press the (AUDIO) button to select SiriusXM mode. Use the seek buttons to select the desired channel. To view your Radio ID for activation, tune to channel 0.

• Storing Presets: Tune to a desired channel, then press and hold a preset number for at least 2 seconds to store it. You can store up to 18 channels.

• Tuning by Category: Touch the [Category] button on the screen to browse channels grouped by content type (e.g., Music, Sports, News).

• SmartFavorites: This function allows you to rewind and replay missed programming from your preset channels. It includes features like TuneStart™ (starts a song from the beginning when you tune to a channel) and TuneScan™ (provides a short preview of songs from your preset channels).

• Replay Function: You can pause, rewind, and replay live satellite radio.

After pairing your phone via Bluetooth, you can use the hands-free calling features.

• Answering a Call: When a call comes in, the ringtone will sound and an incoming call screen will appear. Touch the screen to answer.

• Making a Call:

• From Favorites: If you have a contact saved as a favorite, press the (Favorite) button and touch their icon to call.

• From Contacts/Recent Calls: Press MENU, then [Phone]. You can select a contact from your synchronized phone book (Contacts) or from the list of recent calls (Recents).

• Using the Keypad: From the Phone menu, touch [Keypad] to enter a phone number manually.

• Using Voice Recognition: Press the VOICE button on the unit to activate your phone’s voice control (like Siri or Google Assistant) to make a call.

• Hanging Up: During a call, touch the [End Call] icon on the screen.

When an optional camera is connected, you can view the camera’s video feed.

• Rear Camera: The rear camera image is displayed automatically when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. The monitor returns to the previous screen when shifted out of reverse.

• Displaying Camera Manually: You can display any connected camera (Front, Rear, Side) by pressing the MENU button and then touching the [Camera] icon, or by pressing the dedicated (Camera) button on the unit.

• Switching Views: If using a multi-view camera, you can touch the screen to switch between different camera patterns like Panorama, Corner, or Top-down view.

• Guide Adjustment: You can adjust the position of the on-screen camera guides to match your vehicle. Access this through Setup -> System -> Camera -> Guide Adjustment.

If your ALPINE I209 is not functioning or displaying anything, please check the following:

• Ensure the vehicle’s ignition is on.

• Check for improper power lead connections.

• Check for a blown fuse on the battery lead of the unit and replace it with the proper value if necessary.

• If you suspect an internal micro-computer malfunction, press the RESET switch with a ballpoint pen or other pointed article.

If you are unable to receive radio stations, it may be due to the following reasons:

• There is no antenna connected, or there is an open connection in the antenna cable. Ensure the antenna is properly connected and replace it if necessary.

If you are unable to tune stations in seek mode:

• You may be in a weak signal area. Make sure the tuner is in DX mode.

• The antenna may not be properly grounded. Check the antenna connections and ensure it is properly grounded at its mounting location.

• The antenna may not be the proper length or may be broken. Ensure the antenna is fully extended and replace it if necessary.

Here are explanations for some common error messages:

• Over-current detected on the USB: Abnormal current was supplied to the USB device. Turn the ignition key off, then on again. Try connecting a different USB device.

• USB Hub is not supported: You have connected a USB hub. The unit does not support USB hubs.

• Connected USB Device is not compatible: The connected iPod/iPhone or USB device is not supported by the unit. Try a different device or reset your iPod.

• Unable to download phonebook: The phonebook failed to sync. Check the mobile phone connection and try synchronizing again. Your phone may not support this feature.

• HDMI communication error: There is a communication error with the HDMI device. Turn the ignition off and on again. Check the HDMI cable connection.

• SiriusXM – Check Tuner: The SiriusXM Tuner is disconnected or there is a communication issue. Check the Tuner connection to the back of the unit.

• SiriusXM – Check Antenna: The SiriusXM antenna cable may be damaged or not connected correctly. Check the cable connection and for any damage.
