Before proceeding with the installation of the AERPRO SWCH3C, please follow these precautions:

1. Installation requires a certain level of technical knowledge. Please read the user manual in its entirety before installation.

2. It is essential to use the correct tools during installation to prevent any damage to the vehicle or the product itself.

3. Before beginning, disconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure the key is removed from the ignition.

Follow these steps for the installation process of the AERPRO SWCH3C:

1. Take the module and attach the 16-pin patch lead connector for steering wheel control retention, then make the required connections to the aftermarket head unit. Different stereo brands might use different ways to connect, like a 3.5mm jack, an SWC IR wire, or two wired inputs (KEY1 and KEY2).

2. Connect the 18-pin connector for power and steering wheel controls from the vehicle.

3. Connect the ISO to the head unit or Aerpro head unit specific harness.

4. Plug in the car-specific leads from the main interface harness to the matching connectors in your vehicle. Depending on the vehicle, not all connectors from the factory head unit will be used.

5. If your interface has extra leads, connect them to the back of the aftermarket head unit’s specific harness. (This may not be required for your vehicle/head unit).

6. Attach the antenna adapter to the vehicle’s existing antenna port from the back of the factory head unit. (This may not be required for your vehicle/head unit).

7. If your interface has reverse camera retention, connect the yellow male RCA cable from the interface to the female RCA port on the rear of the aftermarket head unit. (This may not be required for your vehicle/head unit).

8. If your aftermarket head unit requires a DAB antenna, plug the DAB antenna connector into the head unit.

9. After connecting all cables and extra parts, make sure to test the stereo and the steering wheel controls before reassembling the vehicle’s interior.

Note: Phone buttons are retained with compatible aftermarket head units.

The AERPRO SWCH3C interface includes a set of dipswitches. Consult the dipswitch configuration table to select the appropriate configuration for your aftermarket head unit. To activate a dipswitch, press it downward into the ‘ON’ position.

Please use the following table to configure the dipswitches on your AERPRO SWCH3C for your specific aftermarket head unit brand.

Note: Dipswitches 5 & 6 are reserved for vehicle-specific configuration.

Yes, the steering wheel buttons can be re-configured or assigned dual functions with the AERPRO SWCH3C. The availability of these buttons depends on the specific vehicle and if the aftermarket radio supports them.

You can assign dual functions to each button, meaning every button can be programmed to execute both a short press command and a long press command. You can also add your own bespoke configuration. Button configuration can be done by PC, MAC, and smartphone via the USB port.

The provided diagrams show examples of steering wheel control configurations. Actual configurations may vary depending on the vehicle. The typical functions are:

Some vehicles use controls on the back of the steering wheel.

The AERPRO SWCH3C supports several connection modes for compatibility with learning-style aftermarket head units:

KEY1 and KEY2: This mode is specifically for analog learning mode-style radios. The SWC module is designed with a resistor chain that precisely matches the required resistance for seamless compatibility with this type of head unit.

KEY1 and KEY2 EXTEND: This mode extends every button press to 2 seconds during the learning process. This is useful for rolly wheel-designed steering wheel buttons where holding for 2 seconds isn’t feasible. The extend feature automatically prolongs each press, simplifying head unit programming in such scenarios. Extend mode is not intended for normal use; it is only used in the teaching process.

ANALOG SINGLE WIRE and ANALOG SINGLE WIRE EXTEND: This function operates similarly to KEY1 and KEY2 but transmits all unique values through the IR SWC single wire. This is for compatibility with learning-style head units that have only one learning input wire. The Analog Extend mode functions identically to its counterpart in the KEY1 and KEY2 system but transmits through a single wire.

The AERPRO SWCH3C system consists of several main components as shown in the connection diagram:

Headunit Patch Lead: Connects the SWC interface to the aftermarket stereo. It includes wires for GROUND, KEY 1, KEY 2, SWC IR, and a 3.5MM JACK PLUG.

SWC Interface: The central control module with dipswitches for configuration. It has a 16-pin harness connector port and an 18-pin harness connector port.

SWC Vehicle Harness: Connects the interface to the vehicle’s wiring and the new radio. This includes:

• ISO CONNECTOR: Connects to the radio harness.

• ISO PASS THROUGH HARNESS: Used for vehicles equipped with an OEM amplifier.

• VEHICLE CONNECTORS (A or B): Connect to the vehicle harness.

• Individual wires: AMP REMOTE, SPEED PULSE, REVERSE, PARK BRAKE.
