• Do not place metallic objects such as knives, forks, spoons, and lids on the hob surface as they can get hot.

• Do not use water spray and steam to clean the appliance.

• After use, switch off the hob element by its control and do not rely on the pan detector.

• If the surface is cracked, switch off the appliance to avoid the possibility of electric shock. If the appliance is connected to the mains directly using a junction box, remove the fuse to disconnect the appliance from the power supply. In either case, contact the Authorised Service Centre.

• Only use hob guards designed or indicated by the manufacturer as suitable, or hob guards incorporated in the appliance. The use of inappropriate guards can cause accidents.

The power limitation on your AEG TO84IA0FIT hob defines how much total power is used, within the limits of your house installation fuses. To change the power level:

1. Deactivate the hob.

2. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The display comes on and goes off.

3. Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds. ‘b0’ or ‘b1’ appears.

4. Press the timer symbol. ‘P72’ appears.

5. Press the +/- buttons of the timer to set the desired power level.

The available power levels are:

• P72 — 7200 W

• P15 — 1500 W

• P20 — 2000 W

• P25 — 2500 W

• P30 — 3000 W

• P35 — 3500 W

• P40 — 4000 W

• P45 — 4500 W

• P50 — 5000 W

• P60 — 6000 W

Ensure that the selected power fits your house installation fuses.

To activate or deactivate the AEG TO84IA0FIT hob, touch the power symbol for 1 second.

The Automatic Switch Off function on your AEG TO84IA0FIT will deactivate the hob automatically if:

• All cooking zones are deactivated.

• You do not set a heat setting after activating the hob.

• You spill something or place an object (like a pan or cloth) on the control panel for more than 10 seconds. An acoustic signal will sound before the hob deactivates.

• The hob gets too hot (e.g., a saucepan boils dry). Let the cooking zone cool down before using it again.

• You use incorrect cookware. The symbol ‘F’ comes on, and the cooking zone deactivates after 2 minutes.

• You do not deactivate a cooking zone or change its heat setting. After some time, ‘-‘ comes on, and the hob deactivates.

The time after which the hob deactivates depends on the heat setting:

To set or change the heat setting on your AEG TO84IA0FIT hob, touch the control bar at the correct heat setting or move your finger along the control bar until you reach the correct heat setting.

The OptiHeat Control on your AEG TO84IA0FIT is a 3-step residual heat indicator. It shows the level of residual heat for the cooking zones you are currently using, even after they have been turned off. This feature warns you that a zone is still hot, reducing the risk of burns.

The indicators mean:

• Three bars: continue cooking

• Two bars: keep warm

• One bar: residual heat

The indicator may also appear for neighbouring cooking zones, when hot cookware is placed on a cold cooking zone, or when the hob is deactivated but the cooking zone is still hot. The indicator disappears when the cooking zone has cooled down.

The Automatic Heat Up function on your AEG TO84IA0FIT allows you to get a desired heat setting in a shorter time. When activated, the cooking zone operates at the highest heat setting initially and then continues at the desired setting.

Note: To activate the function, the cooking zone must be cold.

To activate the function for a cooking zone, touch the ‘A’ symbol (‘P’ comes on). Immediately touch the desired heat setting. After 3 seconds, ‘A’ comes on. To deactivate the function, simply change the heat setting.

The PowerBoost function provides more power to the induction cooking zones for a limited period. After this time, the zone automatically returns to the highest standard heat setting.

• To activate the function for a cooking zone: touch ‘P’. ‘P’ comes on.

• To deactivate the function: change the heat setting.

The AEG TO84IA0FIT hob has three timer functions: Count Down Timer, CountUp Timer, and Minute Minder.

Count Down Timer

Use this to set the length of a single cooking session.

1. Set the heat setting for the cooking zone.

2. To set the cooking zone: touch the clock symbol repeatedly until the indicator of a cooking zone appears.

3. To activate the function: touch ‘+’ of the timer to set the time (00 – 99 minutes). When the zone indicator starts to flash, the time counts down.

4. To see the remaining time: touch the clock symbol to set the cooking zone. The display shows the remaining time.

5. To change the time: touch the clock symbol to set the cooking zone. Touch ‘+’ or ‘-‘.

6. To deactivate the function: touch the clock symbol to set the cooking zone and then touch ‘-‘. The remaining time counts down to 00. The zone indicator disappears.

When the countdown ends, an acoustic signal sounds and ’00’ flashes. The cooking zone deactivates. To stop the sound, touch the clock symbol.

CountUp Timer

Use this to monitor how long a cooking zone operates.

1. To set the cooking zone: touch the clock symbol repeatedly until the indicator of a cooking zone appears.

2. To activate the function: touch ‘-‘ of the timer. ‘UP’ appears. When the zone indicator starts to flash, the time counts up. The display switches between ‘UP’ and the counted time in minutes.

3. To see how long the zone operates: touch the clock symbol to set the zone. The display shows how long the zone has been operating.

4. To deactivate the function: touch the clock symbol and then touch ‘+’ or ‘-‘.

Minute Minder

Use this function when the hob is activated but the cooking zones are not operating. The heat setting display shows ‘0’.

1. To activate the function: touch the clock symbol and then touch ‘+’ or ‘-‘ of the timer to set the time.

2. When the time finishes, an acoustic signal sounds and ’00’ flashes. To stop the sound, touch the clock symbol.

The Pause function sets all operating cooking zones to the lowest heat setting. When active, all other symbols on the control panel are locked. The timer functions are not stopped.

• To activate the function: press the pause symbol (||). The symbol ‘u’ comes on, and the heat setting is lowered to 1.

• To deactivate the function: press the pause symbol (||). The previous heat setting appears.

Lock Function

This allows you to lock the control panel while cooking zones are active to prevent accidental changes to the heat setting.

1. Set the heat setting first.

2. To activate the function: touch the lock symbol. ‘L’ comes on for 4 seconds. The Timer stays on.

3. To deactivate the function: touch the lock symbol. The previous heat setting comes on.

When you deactivate the hob, this function also deactivates.

Child Safety Device

This function prevents accidental operation of the hob.

• To activate the function: activate the hob with the power button. Do not set any heat setting. Touch the lock symbol for 4 seconds. ‘L’ comes on. Deactivate the hob with the power button.

• To deactivate the function: activate the hob with the power button. Do not set any heat setting. Touch the lock symbol for 4 seconds. ‘0’ comes on. Deactivate the hob with the power button.

• To override the function for one cooking time: activate the hob with the power button. ‘L’ comes on. Touch the lock symbol for 4 seconds. Set the heat setting in 10 seconds. You can now operate the hob. When you deactivate the hob with the power button, the function operates again.

You can deactivate and activate the hob’s sounds using the OffSound Control feature.

1. Deactivate the hob.

2. Touch the power button for 3 seconds. The display comes on and goes out.

3. Touch the lock symbol for 3 seconds. ‘b0’ or ‘b1’ comes on.

4. Touch the ‘+’ of the timer to choose one of the following:

• ‘b1’ – the sounds are on

• ‘b0’ – the sounds are off

5. To confirm your selection, wait until the hob deactivates automatically.

When the function is set to ‘b1’ (sounds on), you can hear sounds only when:

• you touch the power button.

• Minute Minder comes down.

• Count Down Timer comes down.

• you put something on the control panel.

The power management function on your AEG TO84IA0FIT divides the available power between cooking zones connected to the same phase if the consumed power exceeds the power supply limitation. This protects the fuses of your house installation.

• Cooking zones are grouped according to the location and number of phases. Each phase has a maximum electricity loading of 3700 W. If the hob reaches this limit, the power of the cooking zones will be automatically reduced.

• The heat setting of the cooking zone selected last is always prioritised. The remaining power will be divided between previously activated zones in reverse order of selection.

• The heat setting display of the reduced zones will alternate between the initially selected heat setting and the reduced heat setting.

• Wait until the display stops flashing or reduce the heat setting of the last selected zone. The cooking zones will continue operating with the reduced heat setting. You can change the heat settings manually if necessary.

Hob²Hood is an advanced automatic function that connects the AEG TO84IA0FIT hob to a special AEG hood. Both have an infrared signal communicator. The fan speed is defined automatically based on the mode setting and the temperature of the hottest cookware on the hob. You can also operate the fan manually from the hob.

Operating the function automatically:

To operate automatically, set the automatic mode to H1 – H6. The hob is originally set to H5. The hood reacts whenever you operate the hob, automatically recognizing cookware temperature and adjusting fan speed.

Changing the automatic mode:

1. Deactivate the hob.

2. Press the power button for 3 seconds. The display comes on and goes off.

3. Press the lock button for 3 seconds.

4. Press the fan symbol a few times until ‘H’ comes on.

5. Press the ‘+’ of the timer to select an automatic mode.

The automatic modes are as follows:

Operating the fan speed manually:

Press the fan symbol when the hob is active. This deactivates automatic operation. Press the fan symbol to raise the fan speed by one. To set the fan speed to 0 (off), reach the intensive level and press the fan symbol again. To start the fan again with speed 1, press the fan symbol.

Activating the light:

You can set the hob to automatically activate the light whenever you activate the hob. To do so, set the automatic mode to H1 – H6. The light on the hood deactivates 2 minutes after deactivating the hob.

For induction cooking zones like those on the AEG TO84IA0FIT, a strong electro-magnetic field creates heat very quickly in the cookware. Use suitable cookware for best results.

Cookware material:

• Correct: cast iron, steel, enamelled steel, stainless steel, multi-layer bottom (with a correct marking from the manufacturer).

• Not correct: aluminium, copper, brass, glass, ceramic, porcelain.

Cookware is suitable for an induction hob if:

• water boils very quickly on a zone set to the highest heat setting.

• a magnet pulls on to the bottom of the cookware.

Cookware dimensions:

Induction cooking zones adapt automatically to the bottom dimension of the cookware. The efficiency of a cooking zone is related to the diameter of the cookware. For optimal heat transfer, use cookware with a bottom diameter similar to the size of the cooking zone. Do not use cookware larger than the diameter of the cooking zone.

The following simplified cooking guide provides recommendations for using the different heat settings on your AEG TO84IA0FIT hob:

To keep your AEG TO84IA0FIT hob in good condition, follow these cleaning instructions:

• Remove immediately: melted plastic, plastic foil, salt, sugar, and food with sugar. Otherwise, the dirt can cause damage to the hob. Use a special hob scraper on the glass surface at an acute angle to move the blade and remove the dirt. Be careful to avoid burns.

• Remove when the hob is sufficiently cool: limescale rings, water rings, fat stains, and shiny metallic discoloration. Clean the hob with a mildly abrasive cleaning milk and an anti-scratch, delicate sponge. After cleaning, wipe the hob dry with a microfibre cloth.

• Persistent marks and stains: apply moderate pressure and scrub the surface with an anti-scratch, delicate sponge and a mildly abrasive cleaning milk until the stains are no longer visible.

Important: Always use cookware with a clean base. Do not use the classic yellow and green sponge, as its hard layer may damage and discolor the glass. Do not use knives or any other sharp, metal tools to clean the glass surface.

If your AEG TO84IA0FIT hob will not activate or operate, check the following:

• Connection: Check if the hob is correctly connected to the electrical supply.

• Fuse: Make sure a blown fuse is the cause of the malfunction. If the fuse blows repeatedly, contact a qualified electrician.

• Heat Setting: You may not have set the heat setting within 10 seconds of activation. Activate the hob again and set the heat setting in less than 10 seconds.

If you notice the heat setting changing between two levels, this is because the power management function is operating. This is a normal function that distributes power between the cooking zones to protect your home’s electrical installation.

The symbol ‘L’ on your AEG TO84IA0FIT display indicates that the Child Safety Device or the Lock function is operating. This prevents accidental changes to the settings or operation of the hob.

The symbol ‘F’ appears on your AEG TO84IA0FIT display for one of the following reasons:

• There is no cookware on the cooking zone. Place cookware on the zone.

• The cookware is unsuitable for induction hobs. Use cookware suitable for induction hobs.

• The diameter of the bottom of the cookware is too small for the zone. Use cookware with the correct dimensions.

If your AEG TO84IA0FIT is heating up slowly, it is likely because the cookware is too small for the cooking zone. A small pot receives only a part of the power generated by the zone. For optimal heat transfer, use cookware with a bottom diameter similar to the size of the cooking zone as specified in the “Technical data” section of the user manual.

If ‘E’ and a number appear on your AEG TO84IA0FIT hob’s display, it indicates an error in the hob. Try the following steps:

1. Deactivate the hob and activate it again after 30 seconds.

2. If the ‘E’ symbol comes on again, disconnect the hob from the electrical supply.

3. After 30 seconds, connect the hob again.

4. If the problem continues, speak to an Authorised Service Centre.
