Quick Start 1 2 4 ..2 .4 .8 10 .11 .12 13 14 Precaution for use 1 Use the thermometer to measure your temple temperature only, the area between the outer corner of the eye and the hairline, right over the temporal artery 2 Do not place the thermometer on scarred tissue, open sores or abrasions. 3 Using drug therapies may raise forehead temperature, which may lead to incorrect measurements. 4 Do not dismantle the unit unless replacing the batteries. Children should not use the 5. thermometer without the supervision of an adult 6. Do not drop or expose thermometer to electric shock as this may adversely affect its performance. 7 The thermometer is not water proof Do not immerse it in water or liquid of any kind 8 To ensure correct readings, please wait for at least 2 minutes between continuous measurements for the thermometer to return to room temperature. 9. Do not use the thermometer when flammable materials are around. 10. Stop using the thermometer if malfunctions appear or if it operates abnormally 11. Clean the thermometer probe after each measurement. Cleaning and Care Please do not drop the unit or expose to heavy shock. The unit is not shock proof. Wipe the tip and probe with an alcohol swab or cotton swab moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol before & after each use. After cleaning, wait at least 2 minutes before taking a measurement for the unit to readjust to room temperature Use only a soft dry cloth to clean the body of the thermometer (if necessary). Please avoid thinner and benzene or other harsh cleaners Never use an abrasive cleanser or submerge the thermometer in water or other liquids Please remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for a long period Do not expose the thermometer to extreme temperatures, humidity, direct sunlight or shock Store it at room temperature 12. Do not take a measurement if the temple area has just been exposed to direct sunlight, fireplace heat or air conditioner flow, as this may lead to incorrect readings. 13. If thermometer has been kept or stored in a cold temperature, please wait for at least 1 hour for it to return to room temperature before measuring. 14. Operating or storing the unit outside the stated temperature and humidity ranges, or measuring a patient whose temperature is below the room temperature may degrade the performance of the thermometer. 15. Body temperature, like blood pressure, varies from person to person. During the day, it can range from 95.90F to IOO.OOF (35.50C to 37.80C). For some people there can be a difference between their temple and body temperature. We recommend learning your normal temple temperature while healthy so you can detect an elevated one. For accuracy, be sure and measure the same area of the temple each time. Avoid taking a measurement for at least 16. 30 minutes after physical exercise, bathing or eating. 17. Thus we recommend you measure yourself when healthy to establish referenced temperatures which will make you feel more confident of the measured temperature when ill Preparation for Use Installing/Replacing the Battery 1. The ambient (room) temperature was outside the operating range.
