You can also use the WPS button to quickly set up a secure wireless connection between the Zyxel Device and a WPS-compatible client. To activate WPS:

1. Make sure the POWER LED is on and not blinking.

4. Once the connection is successfully made, the WLAN/WPS LED shines green.

To turn off the wireless network, press the WiFi button. The WLAN/WPS LED turns off when the wireless network is off.

If you forget your password or cannot access the Web Configurator, you will need to use the RESET button to reload the factory-default configuration file. This will erase all configurations you had previously. The password will be reset to the factory default (see the device label), and the LAN IP address will be “192.168.1.1”.

1. Make sure the POWER LED is on (not blinking).

2. To set the device back to the factory default settings, press the RESET button for one second or until the POWER LED begins to blink and then release it. When the POWER LED begins to blink, the defaults have been restored and the device restarts.

To access the Web Configurator, an HTML-based management interface, follow these steps:

1. Make sure your ZYXEL VMG1312-B10D hardware is properly connected.

2. Launch your web browser. If you are not automatically redirected to the login screen, go to http://192.168.1.1.

3. A password screen will display. Type the default username admin and the randomly assigned default password (found on the device label) and click Login. If you have changed the password, enter your new password.

4. The first time you log in, a screen will appear asking you to set a new password. Enter a new password, retype it to confirm, and click Change password. If you prefer to use the default password, click Skip.

5. The Wizard screen will then display for initial setup, followed by the Connection Status page.

To use the Web Configurator, you need to allow web browser pop-up windows from your device and have JavaScript enabled.

If your ZYXEL VMG1312-B10D does not turn on, follow these steps:

1. Make sure the Zyxel Device is turned on.

2. Make sure you are using the power adaptor or cord included with the Zyxel Device.

3. Make sure the power adaptor or cord is connected to the Zyxel Device and plugged in to an appropriate power source. Ensure the power source is turned on.

4. Turn the Zyxel Device off and then on again.

5. If the problem persists, contact the vendor.

If one of the LEDs does not behave as expected, perform the following checks:

1. Make sure you understand the normal behavior of the LED by referring to the LED description table.

3. Inspect your cables for any damage. If you find any, contact the vendor for a replacement.

6. If the problem persists, contact your ISP.

If you’re having trouble with your DSL connection, check the following:

1. Make sure the DSL WAN port is connected to a telephone jack (or the DSL/modem jack on a splitter).

2. Ensure you have configured a proper DSL WAN interface in the Network Setting > Broadband screen with the account information from your ISP and that it is enabled.

3. Check that the LAN interface you are using is in the same interface group as the DSL connection (Network Setting > Interface Grouping).

4. If your WAN connection uses a bridging service, ensure the DHCP feature in the LAN screen is turned off so clients get their WAN IP addresses directly from the ISP’s DHCP server.

If your connection to the Zyxel Device is no longer available, try these steps:

1. Your session may have expired. Try logging into the Zyxel Device again.

2. Check the hardware connections and make sure the LEDs are behaving as expected.

3. Turn the Zyxel Device off and on.

4. If the problem continues, contact your vendor.

The following factors can cause wireless interference:

• Obstacles: walls, ceilings, furniture, etc.
• Building Materials: metal doors, aluminum studs.
• Electrical devices: microwaves, monitors, electric motors, cordless phones, and other wireless devices.

To optimize the speed and quality of your wireless connection, you can:

• Move your wireless device closer to the ZYXEL VMG1312-B10D if the signal strength is low.
• Reduce wireless interference from other wireless networks or electronics like cordless phones.
• Place the AP where there are minimum obstacles between it and the wireless client.
• Reduce the number of wireless clients connecting to the same AP simultaneously.
• Try closing some programs that use a lot of Internet bandwidth, especially peer-to-peer applications.

If your ZYXEL VMG1312-B10D does not detect your USB device, follow these steps:
