What are the handling and maintenance notices for the YAMAHA TROVA YTL-110?

To avoid the possibility of malfunction/damage to the product or damage to other property, follow the notices below.

Handling

Do not drop the instrument. Doing so may make it impossible to remove the mouthpiece or result in damage to the bell.

Keep the instrument away from heat sources such as heaters, etc. Also, do not use or store the instrument in any extreme conditions of temperature or humidity. Doing so can cause damage to the instrument.

Do not place vinyl, plastic or rubber objects on the instrument, since this might discolor the instrument.

Generally, though most chemicals should not be used for cleaning, rubbing alcohol can be used, but only for lightly wiping the surface. Wipe thoroughly with a dry polishing cloth so that no solution remains. Remaining alcohol could result in surface discoloration or degradation of the instrument.

Maintenance

When cleaning the instrument, use a soft cloth. Do not use paint thinners, solvents, cleaning fluids, or chemical-impregnated wiping cloths.

Do not put the instrument in a dishwasher or in boiling water. Doing so could result in deformation and/or deterioration, and could hinder proper performance of the instrument.

When detaching the mouthpiece from the instrument, hold the instrument firmly, rotate the mouthpiece slowly and pull it out from the instrument. When attaching the mouthpiece, insert the mouthpiece into the mouthpiece receiver gently until there is no looseness. In addition to the included mouthpiece, this product can also be used with a metal-made Yamaha trumpet mouthpiece.

NOTICE:

Do not forcefully insert the mouthpiece into the mouthpiece receiver. Doing so may make it difficult or impossible to remove the mouthpiece from the instrument.

How do I detach and attach the bell on the YAMAHA TROVA YTL-110?

You can reduce the volume of the instrument by detaching the bell from the instrument. When detaching the bell, hold the instrument and turn the bell slowly while pulling it out. When attaching the bell, hold the instrument and turn the bell slowly until it is secure.


How should I hold the YAMAHA TROVA YTL-110?

Insert your thumb into the finger ring. Next, grab the upper three pipes with your other fingers.

NOTE: Do not block the exhaust port of the branch pipe with your fingers. Doing so may result in incorrect sound.


How can I practice making a sound using only the mouthpiece of the YAMAHA TROVA YTL-110?

You can make sounds by vibrating or buzzing your lips against the mouthpiece. When producing sound for the first time, try the following steps.

1. Hold only the mouthpiece in your hand.

2. Say “pea, pea” repeatedly and make your lips close.

3. Place the mouthpiece on the middle of your lips.

4. Take a deep breath and make a buzzing sound while your lips vibrate quickly.

5. Once you can produce sound using the mouthpiece only, attach the mouthpiece to the instrument and try producing sound.


What is the playing range of the YAMAHA TROVA YTL-110?

You can produce the sounds shown in the score by changing the speed of your breath and the shape of your lips. These sounds are the same as when played on a regular B♭ trumpet without pressing valves. By taking a breath quickly, your lips vibrate faster, allowing you to produce higher note sounds.

NOTE: Music score for B♭ trumpets is generally written so that the C note corresponds to B♭ on the piano.


How do I remove moisture from the inside of my YAMAHA TROVA YTL-110?

As you continue to play, moisture will accumulate inside the instrument. Remove the moisture that has accumulated inside the instrument by following the steps below.

1. Prepare a towel or absorbent paper to catch any moisture that has accumulated inside the instrument.

2. Remove the mouthpiece from the instrument.

3. Rotate the instrument slowly so that any moisture that has accumulated inside the instrument comes out through the entrance of the mouthpiece receiver.


How do I clean and maintain my YAMAHA TROVA YTL-110?

You can wash the inside of the instrument with running water. Detach the mouthpiece from the mouthpiece receiver and pour water from the mouthpiece receiver into the instrument. After thoroughly rinsing the inside of the instrument, make sure to thoroughly drain out any accumulated moisture from inside the instrument. After washing, wipe the instrument surface with a soft cloth and dry thoroughly.

NOTE: To enjoy long-term use of this product, wipe off any dust and dirt from the joints with a soft cloth. Also, make sure to check the condition of your instrument regularly.
