The YAESU ADMS-17 software allows you to use a personal computer to conveniently edit memory channel frequencies, channel information, and alpha tags. Additionally, it enables you to easily edit and configure transceiver parameters and setup menu items from the computer keyboard.

The YAESU ADMS-17 requires a computer running Microsoft Windows 10 or Windows 11. The CPU and RAM must satisfy the operating system requirements. Regarding hard disk space, in addition to the memory space required to run the operating system, about 50 MB or more of additional memory space is required to run the program.

Step 1. Start up the computer as an Administrator user.

Step 2. Double-click setup.exe in the folder that contains the unzipped files.

Step 3. If the .NET Framework install dialog box opens, follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 4. Follow the prompts in the installation wizard and click the Next button.

Step 5. Click the Install button. If the User Account Control dialog box opens, click the Yes button.

Step 6. When the installation is finished, click the Finish button to complete the installation.

Step 1. Disconnect any USB cables from the computer.

Step 2. Click the Start button and then click Settings.

Step 3. Click Apps.

Step 4. Select FTM-150 ADMS-17 EXP and then click Uninstall.

Step 5. When the User Account Control dialog box opens, click the Yes button to commence uninstallation.

It is necessary to read the data information from the transceiver first. If the data is not read, it will not be possible to load the saved file or transfer the data to the transceiver. You must read the data using either a microSD card or a PC connection cable before editing the data with the YAESU ADMS-17.

Step 1. Save the transceiver data to the microSD card by selecting 47 BACKUP, then WRITE TO SD, then ALL from the transceiver setup menu.

Step 2. Insert the microSD memory card with the saved ALL data into your computer.

Step 3. In the YAESU ADMS-17, click Get Data from SD card in the Communications menu, then click ALL.

Step 4. Select the CLNFTM150nn.dat file in the FTM150 folder, within the BACKUP folder of the microSD card drive.

Step 5. Click the Open button, then click the OK button.

Step 1. Connect the transceiver to the PC using the PC connection cable.

Step 2. Press and hold the F(BACK) key on the transceiver.

Step 3. Turn the right DIAL knob to select 58 This -> Other and press the right DIAL knob.

Step 4. Click Get Data from FTM-150 in the Communications menu of the YAESU ADMS-17.

Step 5. Click the OK button.

Step 6. Rotate the right DIAL knob on the transceiver to select OK, and press the right DIAL knob to start data transfer.

Step 7. Click the Close button when finished.

Basic setting items which are not related to memory channels can be configured from the Set Mode window. Click Settings in the Settings menu of the YAESU ADMS-17 to open the Set Mode window. To change the setting of each item in the window, click the ▼ icon to show the dropdown settings list, and then click the desired selection.

Data files may be created using a spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel. To create a data file for the import of data, save the spreadsheet in the CSV comma separated file format. A spreadsheet may be easily created by exporting the template data in the CSV format using the YAESU ADMS-17 Export command. After the CSV data has been edited, the spreadsheet may be imported back into the YAESU ADMS-17. Note that a separate import file is needed for each template.

To print the current template file data to hard copy, click Print in the File menu of the YAESU ADMS-17. The Print window will open to enable printing. Set the start line and the end line of the data you want to print, and then click the Printing button to start printing.

If the data transfer does not start, perform the following checks:

Verify that the programming cable is correctly connected to the transceiver data port and to the computer.

Ensure the computer COM port setting is correct.

Ensure you are operating in the correct order as displayed in the procedures for Get Data or Send Data in the Communications menu.

The Offset Direction setting allows you to set the frequency shift direction. The options are as follows:

OFF: The transmit frequency is not shifted.

-RPT: The transmit frequency is shifted to the minus offset.

+RPT: The transmit frequency is shifted to the plus offset.

-/+: The transmit frequency is not shifted.

The Operating Mode setting allows you to select the operating mode for the receive channel:

FM: The selected frequency band is set to FM mode.

AM: The selected frequency band is set to AM mode.

To create new channels in designated frequency steps, click Add Frequency Range in the Edit menu. In the Add Frequency Range window, enter the Starting Frequency, the Number of Channels, and the desired Frequency Step, then click the OK button.

When an internal spurious signal occurs due to the microcomputer clock, turn the Clock Shift setting on by ticking the checkbox. This may improve the situation. Usually, this item is set to OFF by un-ticking the checkbox.
