Before using your XIXUBX CM5409E-UL appliance, please follow these basic precautions:

1. Read all instructions and keep them for future reference.

2. Before using the appliance, check that the voltage of the wall outlet corresponds to the voltage marked on the rating plate.

3. To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury do not immerse the power cord or plug in water or other liquids.

4. Remove the plug from the wall outlet before cleaning and when not in use. Allow the appliance to cool down completely before removing or attaching components, or before cleaning.

5. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged power cord or plug, after the appliance has malfunctioned, or is dropped or damaged in any way. Take the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repairs or adjustments, or contact the dealer.

6. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock and injury.

7. Place the appliance on a flat surface or table. Do not hang the power cord over the edge of the table or counter.

8. Ensure the power cord does not touch the hot surface of the appliance.

9. Do not place the coffee maker on a hot surface or next to an open flame.

10. To disconnect the appliance, turn it off, then remove the plug from the wall outlet. When removing the plug from the outlet, hold by the plug, never pull on the cord.

11. Do not use the appliance other than for the intended use.

12. Always supervise closely when the appliance is used by or near children.

13. Be careful when using the appliance, as steam may escape and pose a risk of getting scalded.

14. Do not touch any hot surface of the appliance (including the steam wand and the filter). Only use the handle or knobs.

15. Do not operate the coffee maker without water.

16. Do not remove the portafilter when in use or when steam or hot water escape from the filter holder.

17. 18. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

19. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; farm houses; bed and breakfast type environments.

20. Do not use outdoors.

21. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

Plug Note:

The XIXUBX CM5409E-UL appliance utilizes a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other). To minimize the risk of electric shock, the plug is designed to fit into a polarized outlet in one direction only. If the plug does not fit fully, try reversing it. If it still doesn’t fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

Cord Note:

1. A short power supply cord (or detachable cord) is provided to reduce the risk of entanglement or tripping over a longer cord.

2. Longer detachable power supply cords or extension cords are available and can be used with caution.

3. If using a longer detachable cord or extension cord, please note:

a. The cord’s electrical rating should be at least as high as the appliance’s.

b. Arrange the cord to avoid draping over countertops or tables where children might pull on it or people could trip over it.

To prepare your XIXUBX CM5409E-UL for its first use, follow these steps:

1. Fill the water tank with 4-cup water.

2. Plug in the wall outlet.

3. Insert the filter without any coffee grounds into the filter holder.

4. Keep the filter holder flat and insert it into the brew head.

5. Turn the portafilter to the right.

6. When you hear a beep, it means the portafilter is installed properly.

7. Rotate the knob to the “Brew” position.

8. Wait a few minutes; water may come out of the filter holder.

9. Rotate the control knob to the “Steam” position.

10. The steam will eject from the frothing device.

11. Please repeat the steps 2-3 times.

12. Now your espresso coffee maker is ready to brew coffee.

Note: It’s normal to experience a hissing sound due to the strong steam by frothing milk. It’s normal for a large amount of steam to rise with a rattling sound by brewing.

– The flavor of espresso is influenced by the quantity and variety of coffee grounds utilized.

– Various factors contribute to the unique taste of a coffee bean, yet its taste and aroma are primarily shaped by the roasting procedure. Beans roasted at elevated temperatures for an extended period exhibit a darker hue and yield richer flavors compared to lightly roasted ones.

– We suggest opting for a conical burr grinder instead of a blade mill for optimal results. For this espresso machine, it is best to use medium or coarse coffee grounds. Avoid using fine grounds.

– Choose fresh, high-quality coffee beans to achieve the best flavor extraction.

– Store your coffee beans/grounds in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat sources.

– Serve espresso immediately after preparation for optimal taste.

Follow these steps to make espresso:

1. Fill the cup with water to the 4 cups mark.

2. Remove the tank cover by turning it in anti-clockwise.

3. Pour the water into the water tank.

4. Tighten the water tank cover.

5. Wipe the filter with a dry cloth.

6. Fill the “Filter” with coffee grounds.

7. Evenly and firmly tamp the coffee grounds.

8. Wipe the edges of the “Filter” to remove any coffee residue.

9. Keep the “Filter Holder” flat, insert it into the brew head.

10. Turn the “Portafilter” to the right.

11. When you hear a beep, it means the portafilter is installed properly.

12. Place the tritan cup on the drip tray.

13. Rotate the control knob to the “Brew” position.

14. Wait a few minutes, the coffee may come out.

15. Wait until all the coffee comes out before removing the cup.

16. Rotate the control knob to the “OFF” position.

17. Now you could remove the coffee cup.

18. Press the “Lock Button”, then turn the portafilter to the left and remove it.

19. Pour out the espresso puck by using the filter retainer clip.

20. Wash all parts with warm water. Do not wash in a dishwasher.

Note: When using the brewing function, it is normal for a large amount of water to rise with a rattling sound.

NOTE: When using the steamer, the filter holder must be assembled in position.

1. Fill the cup with water to the 4 cups mark.

2. Remove the tank cover by turning it anti-clockwise.

3. Pour the water into the water tank.

4. Replace the tank cover in place by turning the cover in clockwise until it locks in position.

5. Place a cup on the countertop and turn the steam wand towards the cup.

6. Rotate the control knob to the “Steam” position and let the residual water drain.

7. When only steam comes out, indicating all residual water has been expelled.

8. Rotate the control knob to the “OFF” position.

9. Fill a pitcher with cold whole milk to no more than half its capacity.

10. Insert the frothing device into the milk about 0.4 inch.

11. Rotate the control knob to the “Steam” position.

12. Froth milk by moving the vessel round from up to down.

13. The frother will make a hissing noise.

14. The foam milk is ready when you feel a little hot (140-149°F).

15. Rotate the control knob to the “OFF” position.

16. Make your own coffee drinks.

17. Rotate the control knob to “Steam” position.

18. Purge out any residual milk.

19. Rotate the control knob to the “OFF” position.

20. Remove the frothing device with a damp cloth, and clean it.

21. Wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth.

WARNING: Be careful when operating the steam wand. Steam may result in burns or injury.

Note: If there is any water left in the tank, dispose of it and keep the tank clean and clear.

To prevent injuries caused by incorrect installation of the portafilter, which may result in it falling off during brewing, the XIXUBX CM5409E-UL has an anti-shedding protection feature. When you install the portafilter correctly, you will hear a beep, which means you can start making coffee. To remove the portafilter, you must press and hold the “Lock Button”.

1. Turn the control knob to the “OFF” position and allow the coffee maker to cool down completely before cleaning.

2. Regularly clean the casing of the coffee maker with a damp sponge, to clean the water tank, drip tray and dry them.

3. Clean the filter holder and portafilter with cleaner or warm water.

NOTE: Do not clean with alcohol or solvent cleaner. Never immerse the housing in water to clean.

4. Clean all the attachments and dry them thoroughly.

The filters should be kept clean to guarantee perfect results.

1. Remove the filter from the filter holder and wash it with warm water.

2. If you notice a malfunction when brewing coffee, immerse the filter in boiling water for 10 minutes and then rinse with running water.

WARNING: To avoid burns, the filter must only be removed when the filter holder has cooled down completely.

1. After frothing milk, rotate the control knob to the steam position to purge out any residual milk from the steam wand.

2. Remove the frothing device with a damp cloth. You can clean it or just wash it with running water.

3. Clean the steam wand with a damp cloth. If the hole of the steam wand becomes blocked with milk residue, use the cleaning needle to clean it.

NOTE: Do not clean any of the parts in the dishwasher.

Regularly remove any residual coffee grounds from the brew head with a brush, and wash it by the following steps:

1. Do not insert the filter holder.

2. Place an empty cup under the brew head.

3. Pour water into the tank, and rotate the control knob to the “brew” position.

4. After the brewing process is finished, stop the machine.

5. When the brew head is cool, use a damp cloth to clean it.

WARNING: Do not try to disassemble the brew head. It will damage the brew head and lead to leakage.

To ensure your coffee maker operates efficiently and to preserve the flavor of your coffee, it is recommended to clean the machine every 2-3 months.

1. Fill the water tank with water and a descaling agent (4 parts water to 1 part descaling agent) to the “Max” level. Please refer to the instructions on the descaling agent. You can use a household descaling agent, or citric acid (100 parts water to 3 parts citric acid).

2. Place a cup or other container on the drip tray and start the brewing process. When water is ready to drip out of the brewing head, stop the brewing process and leave the descaling solution in the water tank for 5 minutes. After that, start the brewing process again and drip half the water into the cup to clean the brewing pipes. Then, start the steam process and let all the water come out of the steam wand to clean the steam pipes.

3. Turn on the appliance again and repeat the previous steps 3 more times.

4. Next, repeat the process 2 more times using only DRINKING WATER without any descaling agent.

This may be caused by the cup not being located properly, or the water level in the tank exceeding the “MAX” scale.

Corrections:

– Align the cup with the spout of the filter holder.

– The water level in the tank should not exceed the “MAX” scale.

This may be caused by using a descaler that is not the recommended type, which may corrode the metal parts in the tank.

Correction: Use the descaler recommended by the manufacturer.

This can be caused by too much water in the drip tray or a malfunction of the coffee maker.

Correction: Please clean the drip tray. If the issue persists, please contact for help.

This is likely caused by some coffee powder on the filter edge.

Correction: Get rid of the coffee powder on the edge.

This can be caused by not cleaning correctly after descaling with mineral deposits, or because the coffee powder has turned bad from being stored in a hot, wet place for a long time.

Corrections:

– Refer to the section “THE FIRST USE” to properly rinse the machine.

– Please use fresh coffee powder, or store unused coffee powder in a cool, dry place.

This may be because the power outlet is not plugged in well.

Correction: Plug the power cord into a wall outlet correctly. If the appliance still does not work, please contact for help.

There are several possible causes:

– The steam indicator light has not come on.

– The container is too big, or the shape is not fit.

– You have used skimmed milk.

Corrections:

– Make sure the machine is powered on.

– Use a high and narrow cup.

– Use whole milk.
