Always use the power cord supplied with your XEROX VERSALINK B605 and follow these guidelines:

• Plug the power cord directly into a properly grounded electrical outlet. Ensure each end is securely connected.

• Do not use extension cords, power strips, or power plugs for more than 90 days. If a permanent outlet is not available, use only a single factory-assembled extension cord of the appropriate gauge.

To ensure the continued safe operation of your XEROX VERSALINK B605, follow these guidelines:

• Do not remove any trays while the printer is printing.

• Do not open doors while the printer is printing.

• Do not move the printer while it is printing.

• Keep hands, hair, and neckties away from the exit and feed rollers.

• Do not remove protective covers that require tools for removal.

• Do not override any electrical or mechanical interlock devices.

• Do not attempt to remove paper jammed deeply inside the printer. Switch off the printer and contact your local representative.

• The metallic surfaces in the fuser area are hot. Use caution when removing paper jams from this area.

• To avoid a tip hazard, do not push or move the device with all paper trays extended.

• Place the printer on a level, solid, non-vibrating surface with adequate strength to hold its weight.

• Do not block or cover the slots or openings on the printer to ensure proper ventilation.

• Place the printer in an area with adequate space for operation and servicing.

• Place the printer in a dust-free area.

• Do not store or operate the printer in an extremely hot, cold, or humid environment.

• Do not place the printer near a heat source.

• Do not place the printer in direct sunlight.

• Do not place the printer where it is directly exposed to cold air flow from an air conditioning system.

• Do not place the printer in locations susceptible to vibrations.

• For optimum performance, use the printer at the elevations specified in the Elevation specifications.

The Duplex Automatic Document Feeder accommodates original-sized documents with the following specifications:

• Width: 140–216 mm (5.5–8.5 in.)

• Length: 140–356 mm (5.5–14 in.)

• Weight: 60–125 g/m²

Follow these guidelines when loading original documents:

• Load original documents face up so that the top of the document enters the feeder first.

• Place only loose sheets of undamaged paper.

• Adjust the paper guides to fit against the original documents.

• Insert paper only when the ink is dry.

• Do not load original documents above the MAX fill line.

Use the document glass, which accommodates documents up to 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 14 in.), to copy or scan the following types of original documents:

• Paper with paper clips or staples attached

• Paper with wrinkles, curls, folds, tears, or notches

• Coated or carbonless paper or items other than paper, such as cloth or metal

• Envelopes

• Books

Powering On or Waking from Sleep Mode:

To power on the printer, or to exit Low-Power mode or Sleep mode, press the Power/Wake button.

Restarting, Placing in Sleep Mode, or Powering Off:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Power/Wake button.

2. Select an option:

• To restart the printer, touch Restart.

• To place the printer in Sleep Mode, touch Sleep. The touch screen will go dark and the Power/Wake button will flash.

• To power off the printer, touch Power Off.

• If the printer does not respond, press and hold the Power/Wake button for 5 seconds to force it to power down.

If authentication is set on your XEROX VERSALINK B605, follow these steps to log in:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch Log In.

3. Type your User Name using the keypad, then touch Enter.

4. If prompted, enter your password, then touch Enter.

5. Touch OK.

Your XEROX VERSALINK B605 has a set of information pages that you can print. These pages include configuration, font information, demonstration pages, and more.

To print an information page:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch Device > About > Information Pages.

3. Touch the name of the page you want to print.

4. To return to the Home screen, press the Home button.

Available pages include the Configuration Report, Billing Summary Report, Supplies Usage Report, PostScript Font List, PCL Font List, Demonstration Print, Startup Page, and Job History Report.

You can find the printer’s IP address either from the control panel or by printing a Configuration Report.

Viewing the IP Address on the Control Panel:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch Device > About.

3. Record the IP address from the display.

4. To return to the Home screen, press the Home button.

Obtaining the IP Address from the Configuration Report:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch Device > About > Information Pages.

3. Touch Configuration Report to print it.

4. The IP address appears in the Connectivity section of the report for IPv4 or IPv6.

You can connect your XEROX VERSALINK B605 to a wireless network using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) or by manually entering the network details.

Using WPS – Push-Button Connection (PBC) Method:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch Device > Connectivity > Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is off, turn it on and restart the printer.

3. After restarting, navigate back to the Wi-Fi settings.

4. Touch Manual Setup.

5. Touch Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).

6. Touch PBC, then touch OK.

7. On your wireless router, press the WPS button. The router will broadcast setup information for 120 seconds.

8. Restart the printer when prompted.

Connecting Manually:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch Device > Connectivity > Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is off, turn it on and restart the printer.

3. After restarting, navigate back to the Wi-Fi settings.

4. To connect to a network:

• Touch the name of your network from the list, enter the password, and touch OK.

• If your network doesn’t appear, touch Manual Setup. For ‘Enter the Network Name (SSID)’, type the SSID of your network and press OK. Touch Security, select the security method, then touch Enter Password and enter the password for your network. Touch OK.

5. Restart the printer when prompted to activate the settings.

You can customize the Home screen by hiding, showing, and rearranging apps.

Hiding or Showing an App:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch Customize.

3. To display a hidden app, touch the Plus (+) icon, touch the app you want to show, then touch Done.

4. To hide an installed app, touch the X on the app icon, then touch Done.

Rearranging Apps:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch Customize.

3. Touch and hold the app you want to move.

4. Drag the app to its new location and release it.

5. Touch Done.

Saving a Preset:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch the app you want to configure (e.g., Copy, Scan To).

3. Select all the desired job settings.

4. Scroll to the bottom and touch Save.

5. Touch Save as New Preset.

6. Touch Enter Preset Name, type a name using the keypad, and touch Next.

7. Select an icon for your preset.

8. Touch Done.

Deleting a Saved Preset:

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Touch the app that has the preset.

3. Scroll to the bottom and touch Customize.

4. Touch Presets.

5. Touch the Trash icon next to the preset you want to delete.

6. At the prompt, touch Delete.

7. Touch Done.

2. To clear previous settings, touch Reset.

3. Load your original documents:

• For single or delicate pages, lift the document feeder and place the original face down in the upper-left corner of the document glass.

• For single, multiple, or 2-sided pages, insert the originals face up into the document feeder, with the top of the page entering first.

4. Touch Copy and enter the number of copies needed.

5. Adjust copy settings as needed (e.g., 2-Sided, Lighten/Darken).

6. Touch Start.

7. If you are scanning from the document glass, a prompt will appear. Touch Add Page to scan another page, or touch Done to finish the job.

The ID Card Copy app copies both sides of a small document onto one side of a single sheet of paper.

1. At the printer control panel, press the Home button.

2. Lift the automatic document feeder and place the first side of the ID card in the upper-left corner of the document glass.

3. Touch ID Card Copy.

4. Adjust settings as required.

5. Touch Scan.

6. When scanning is finished, lift the document feeder, flip the ID card over in the same spot, and place it in the upper-left corner.

7. To scan the second side and print the copies, touch Scan.

8. To return to the home screen, press the Home button.

1. Load your original document on the document glass or into the document feeder.

2. At the control panel, press the Home button.

3. Touch Email or Scan To.

4. Enter recipients:

• To enter an address manually, type the address using the touch screen keypad and touch Enter.

• To select from the Address Book, touch the Address Book icon, then select a contact or group.

5. Adjust the email and scan settings as needed, such as file name, file format, and subject line.

6. To start the scan, touch Send (for Email app) or Scan (for Scan To app).

7. If scanning from the document glass, you will be prompted to either scan another page (Add Page) or finish the job (Done).

1. Load the original document on the document glass or in the duplex automatic document feeder.

2. Insert your USB flash drive into the USB memory port on the front of the printer.

3. On the “USB Drive has been detected” screen, touch Scan to USB.

4. Adjust scanning features as needed, such as file name and format.

5. To begin the scan, press Scan.

6. If you are scanning from the document glass, when prompted, touch Done to finish or Add Page to scan another page.

7. When finished, remove the USB flash drive.

3. Load your original documents on the document glass or in the document feeder.

4. Touch Fax.

5. Enter a recipient fax number using the touch screen keypad and touch Enter, or add a number from the address book by touching the Address Book icon.

7. Touch Send.

8. If scanning from the document glass, you will be prompted to add another page or finish the job.

You can print print-ready files (like PDF, TIFF, or JPEG) stored on a USB flash drive.

1. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB memory port on the printer.

2. On the “USB Drive has been detected” screen, touch Print from USB.

3. Browse to the file you want to print and touch the file name or icon. To print a group of files, touch the Select All icon for a folder.

4. Touch OK.

5. Confirm the list of files. You can add more documents or remove files from the list.

6. Select the paper supply, quantity, and 2-sided printing options.

7. Touch Print.

8. When you are finished, remove the USB flash drive.

Loading Paper in Trays 1-5:

1. Pull out the tray until it stops, lift the front slightly, and pull it out completely.

2. Adjust the paper length and width guides to fit the paper size.

3. Flex the stack of paper back and forth and fan it to separate the sheets.

4. Load paper into the tray with the print-side face up. Do not load paper above the maximum fill line.

• For 1-sided printing, load letterhead face up with the top toward the back of the tray.

• For 2-sided printing, load letterhead face down with the top edge feeding into the printer.

5. Adjust the guides to touch the edges of the paper stack.

6. Insert the tray back into the printer.

7. If prompted, verify or change the paper type, size, and color on the control panel screen.

Loading Paper in the Bypass Tray:

1. Open the Bypass Tray. For larger sizes, pull out the extension.

2. Move the width guides to the edges of the tray.

3. Flex and fan the paper stack.

4. Load the paper in the tray. Do not overfill.

• For 1-sided printing, load letterhead face up with the top edge going into the printer.

• For 2-sided printing, load letterhead face down with the top edge going into the printer.

5. Adjust the width guides to touch the edges of the paper.

6. If prompted, verify or change the paper settings on the control panel.

Cleaning the Exterior:

Clean the exterior once a month. Wipe the paper tray, control panel, and other parts with a damp, soft cloth. For stubborn stains, use a small amount of mild detergent. Do not spray detergent directly on the printer.

Cleaning the Scanner:

1. Remove any paper from the document feeder.

2. Open the document cover.

3. Slightly dampen a soft, lint-free cloth with water and clean the document glass and the Constant Velocity Transport (CVT) glass.

4. Wipe the white underside of the document cover until it is clean and dry.

5. Lower the Second-Side Scanning Access Cover and wipe the mirrored glass, white-plastic strip, and rollers.

6. Close all covers.

Cleaning the Interior (LED Lens):

1. Open the front door of the printer.

2. Remove the Toner Cartridge, then remove the Drum Cartridge.

3. Remove the cleaning tool from inside the front door.

4. Set the cleaning tool on the LED Lens Block. Slide the tool back and forth three times to clean the lens.

5. Return the cleaning tool to its storage location.

6. Reinstall the Drum Cartridge and the Toner Cartridge.

7. Close the front door.

Adjusting paper registration allows you to precisely place the printed image on the page.

Verifying Paper Registration:

1. Log in as an administrator on the control panel.

2. Touch Device > Support > Image Position.

3. Select the source paper tray and which side(s) to test (Side 1 or Side 2).

4. Touch Print Sample to print a registration chart.

5. Measure the distance of the printed image from the top, bottom, left, and right edges on the printed chart.

Performing a Paper Registration Adjustment:

1. From the Image Position screen, select the source paper tray and the side for registration (Adjusted Side).

2. Touch Lead/Side Registration.

3. To adjust the top-to-bottom position, use the Plus (+) or Minus (-) icons for Lead Registration.

4. To adjust the side-to-side position, use the Plus (+) or Minus (-) icons for Side Registration.

5. Touch OK to save your settings.

6. Print another sample page to verify the corrections.

To resolve paper jams, you must clear all paper from the paper path. Follow the instructions for the specific location of the jam.

Duplex Automatic Document Feeder:

1. Open the Top Cover and remove any loose paper.

2. If paper is jammed inside, open the Document Cover.

3. Open the Second-Side Scanning Access Cover and remove any jammed paper.

4. Close all covers and reload the document.

Bypass Tray / Tray 1 Area:

1. Remove any paper from the Bypass Tray.

2. Grasp both sides of the Bypass Tray and pull it straight out.

3. Remove Tray 1 from the printer.

4. Remove any jammed paper from the printer interior or the trays.

5. Re-insert Tray 1, then re-insert the Bypass Tray.

Fuser Area:

1. Lift the rear door release and pull open the door.

2. Lift the paper guide tab on top of the fuser.

3. Remove any jammed paper from the back of the printer.

4. Close the paper guide and the rear door.
