The communication systems are self-diagnosing. For fault finding, use the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051B- in “Guided fault finding” mode.

The CD drive integrated in the radio can play the following formats: Audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3. The following formats cannot be played: CD with a diameter of 8 cm and Mixed CD (CD with data and audio files).

When the battery is reconnected, please remember to check vehicle equipment like the radio, clock, and convenience electronics in accordance with the electrical system workshop manual and/or the owner’s manual.

1. Obtain the code of the radio. 2. Switch on the radio. The radio will automatically display “SAFE” and then “1000”. 3. Enter the radio code using station buttons 1 to 4. Use station button 1 to enter the first digit, station 2 for the second digit, and so on. 4. Press and hold the function button (or arrow/OK button depending on the model) until the electronic anti-theft coding system is activated, which is indicated by a brief signal sound. If entered correctly, a radio frequency will appear in the display.

If an incorrect anti-theft code is entered, it can be corrected immediately with a further attempt. If an incorrect radio code is entered twice, the radio will be blocked for one hour. During the locking period, the radio must remain switched on and the ignition key must remain in the ignition lock. After one hour, the process can be repeated.

1. Remove any CD from the radio. 2. Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key. 3. Remove the upper cover with air vents out of the dash panel until the underneath bolts of the centre console cover can be reached. 4. Remove the bolts (1.5 Nm). 5. Carefully lever out the centre console cover using removal wedge 3409. 6. Remove the bolts (1.5 Nm) on the radio. 7. Pull the radio out of the installation shaft until you have access to the connectors. 8. Press together the connector locking mechanism in the direction of the arrows, swing the locking bar up, and disconnect the connector.

The radio must be connected to the voltage supply. Press and hold the specified keys simultaneously for at least 5 seconds. Once the drive reaches the transport position, the display will indicate that the transport protection device is activated.

Only music files in the following formats can be played:

DMR music formats are not supported.

Never remove the memory medium while it is selected as the source, as this may destroy the medium. Do not connect an MP3 player directly to the retainer; use a USB extension cable. Do not connect anything other than a USB stick or MP3 player, as hard drives and USB hubs are not supported. The maximum power consumption must not exceed 2.5 W (500 mA/5 V).

The iPod holder is not capable of self-diagnosis. 1. Remove the iPod holder. 2. Disconnect the connector underneath the holder. 3. Switch on the radio. 4. Using a hand-held multimeter and auxiliary cables, measure the voltage between contacts 3 and 6, and 3 and 8 of the connector to the wiring harness. The specification is approximately 12 V. If values are not OK, check wiring/connections. If values are OK, renew the iPod holder.
