To ensure safety, please adhere to the following instructions when installing and using the VIKIO RB11:

Installation and General Safety:

• Installation and electrical wiring must be completed by qualified professionals in accordance with all applicable codes and standards.

• Do not attempt to install this appliance yourself due to the risk of injury from a lack of appropriate electrical and technical background.

• Due to the size and weight of the range hood, a two-person installation is highly recommended.

• Use care when handling the range hood and its parts, as sharp edges may lead to injury. Wearing gloves during installation is highly recommended.

• This appliance is for general ventilating use only. Do not use it to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors.

• Before servicing or cleaning the unit, fully disconnect the hood from power to avoid the risk of electric shock and injury.

Ventilation and Operation:

• The combustion air flow needed for the safe operation of fuel-burning equipment may be affected by this unit’s operation. Follow heating equipment guidelines and safety standards from authorities like the NFPA and ASHRAE.

• Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the ducting to prevent back-drafting.

• Ducted range hoods MUST ALWAYS be vented to the outdoors or converted to recirculate the air.

• When cutting or drilling into a wall or ceiling, be careful not to damage electrical wiring or other hidden utilities.

• Old ductwork should be cleaned or replaced if necessary to avoid a grease fire. Check all joints on ductwork to ensure a proper, taped/secured connection.

• When a range hood ventilates air out of the room, the vented air must be replaced; this is called makeup air. If a makeup air system is needed but not used, the hood may not function as expected due to negative air pressure.

Maintenance:

• Keep the motor, fans, filters, and grease-laden surfaces clean. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate.

• When cleaning, never direct a spray of water or cleaners onto the electrical wiring, motor, button panel, or light bulbs.

• After installation, use a stainless steel cleaning product to eliminate any residues from the protective film after its removal.

It is the customer’s responsibility to observe all governing codes and ordinances. You must contact a qualified electrician to ensure the electrical installation is adequate and conforms with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 (latest edition) or CSA Standards and all local codes.

• A 120-Volt, 60 Hz, AC-only, fused electrical supply is required on a separate 15-amp circuit.

• DO NOT ground to a gas pipe.

• DO NOT have a fuse in the neutral or ground circuit.

• The range hood must be connected with a copper wire/plug only.

• The hood should be connected directly to the fused disconnect (or circuit breaker) box through flexible armored or non-metallic sheathed copper cable.

• A U.L. or C.S.A. listed strain relief must be provided at each end of the power supply cable.

• A U.L. or C.S.A. listed conduit connector must be provided at each end of the power supply cable (at the range hood and at the junction box).

For the most efficient and quiet operation of your VIKIO RB11, follow these venting requirements:

• A mounting distance of 24″ to 30″ is recommended between the stovetop and the bottom of the range hood.

• It is recommended that the range hood be vented vertically through the roof using 6″ or bigger round metal/aluminum ductwork.

• The size of the duct should be uniform.

• Use no more than three 90° elbows.

• Ensure a minimum of 24″ (61 cm) of straight duct between elbows if more than one is used.

• DO NOT install two elbows together.

• The duct system must have a damper. If the roof or wall cap already has a damper, DO NOT use the damper supplied with the range hood.

• Use aluminum foil tape to seal all joints in the duct system.

• Use caulking to seal the exterior wall or roof opening around the cap. Use a 6″ round roof or rectangular wall vent cap.

• A minimum of a 6″ round duct must be used to maintain maximum airflow efficiency.

• Always use rigid type metal/aluminum ducts if available to maximize airflow.

• If turns or transitions are required, install them as far away from the hood opening and as far apart from each other as possible.

To calculate the length of the duct system you require, subtract the equivalent feet for each “Duct piece” used in the system from the “Recommended maximum run.” The longest acceptable straight duct run is 50 feet. The number of duct pieces (elbows, transitions, etc.) will determine the maximum length the duct run can be.

Example Calculation:

If you use one roof cap, two 90° elbows, and one 45° elbow:

7ft (roof cap) + 9ft (90° elbow) + 9ft (90° elbow) + 5ft (45° elbow) = 30ft used.

These duct pieces are equivalent to 30ft of a straight duct run. Subtract this from the allowable 50ft (50ft – 30ft = 20ft). The remaining 20ft is the longest that the straight ducting can be, in addition to the vent pieces used.

You will need the following tools to install your VIKIO RB11:

• Putty Knife

• Pencil

• Utility Knife

• Drywall Knife

• Power Drill

• Phillips Screwdriver

• Level

• Tape Measure

• Aluminum Tape

The VIKIO RB11 comes with the range hood body, filters, and a quantity of 12 anchor screws (M4x16mm).

NOTE: Where necessary, additional screws will be needed for installation and added support, but are not included. Please review contents before installation.

Before installing, you must test the hood. The manufacturer will not be responsible for additional labor costs related to reinstallation due to internal damage or wiring issues.

Advanced Preparations:

1. Be familiar with the controls by reading the Range Hood Operations section.

2. Place the range hood on a flat, stable surface. Connect it to a standard outlet and turn it on to verify all operations.

3. Place all supplied parts and required hardware on a flat surface and verify all parts are present.

4. Carefully remove the white or blue plastic protective coat from the range hood.

Preparations:

NOTE: To avoid damage to your hood, prevent debris from entering the vent opening.

• Disconnect the power cord, remove the stainless steel baffle filter and grease tunnel.

• Set aside the filters and grease tunnel until the range hood is properly installed.

a. Avoid the use of sharp elbows. Use 45-degree elbows instead, if possible.

b. DO NOT use REDUCERS. Keep the size of the duct the same as per the manual. A reducer will reduce the CFM of the hood and increase the noise.

c. DO NOT use plenum boxes. Boxes create turbulence and make the hood inefficient. Use a smooth elbow to guide the air outdoors.

Step 1: Cut the Cabinet Opening

Cut an opening in the bottom of the cabinet using the dimensions shown in the table below. Ensure you have a minimum of 3/4″ space from the wall to your cut out to accommodate the lip of the range hood.

Step 2: Prepare Wood Blocking

Prepare wood blocking to help secure the mounting range hood. Anchor wood blocking to the cabinet with wood screws (not included). CAUTION: Use Fire-Rated wood to construct wood blocking.

Step 3: Insert the Hood

Carefully insert and slide the range hood into the overhead cabinet.

Step 4: Secure the Hood

Fasten the remaining screws from the inner side of the range hood to the wood blocking. Pre-drilled mounting holes are provided through each side of the hood. For a more secure installation, you may drill as many additional installation holes as needed to secure from the inside of the hood.

Step 5: Connect Ductwork

Use a 6″ round steel pipe to connect the exhaust on the hood to the ductwork above. Use aluminum tape to make all joints secure and airtight.

• For a wall vent, cut a hole in the wall to accommodate the elbow duct.

• For a roof vent, cut a hole on the top panel of the cabinet and in the ceiling for the exhaust duct.

If you need to do a ductless installation, follow the installation steps without installing a smoke pipe, and install the activated carbon (charcoal) filters. It is recommended to use ducting to vent your range hood whenever possible, but if you have a recirculating kit, carbon charcoal filters can be used to recirculate the air.

The charcoal filters are installed on both sides of the motor. You twist them to lock them in place.

Before installing, remove the protective white film from the filters.

1. Angle the filter and direct the non-retractable tab inserts toward the aft (back) slot of the range hood opening.

2. While continuing to install the filter, lift the lever for the retractable tabs to clear the way for a flush insertion.

3. When the filter sits flush within the opening, release the lever to lock it in place.

If the blower or fan seems weak, check the following possible causes:

• A large amount of oil has accumulated on the baffle filter: Clean or replace the baffle filters.

• You are using the wrong duct size: Use the correct duct size (3-1/4×10″ or 6″ round type).

• The distance between the range hood and the stove is too far: Adjust the distance between the range hood and the stove top.

• The duct is clogged or the damper unit is not installed correctly: Clear the blockage in the duct and install the flapper correctly.

If the gesture control is invalid, consider these solutions:

• Gesture function is not turned on: Turn on the Gesture function via the control panel.

• The hand wave motion is incorrect: Please ensure that you move your hand in a horizontal motion over the sensing points, maintaining a distance no closer than 5.9 inches from the panel.

• The circuit board is malfunctioning: Contact customer service to replace a new circuit board.

If the range hood does not work, first check that there is power to the range hood. The most common issue is that the circuit breaker is off or the fuse has blown. Also, make sure the speed has been selected at the controls. If power is confirmed, turn off the power and check that all wires are properly connected. Refer to your specific model’s installation instructions for proper wiring.

A rattling noise can be caused by several issues:

• The motor is loose: Turn off the power, remove the filter, and check that all screws are secure and tight around the motor.

• The ductwork connection is loose: Ensure the ductwork connection to the pipe is tight. Add duct tape if necessary.

• The hood is not secured in place: Check the installation of the hood.

• The damper is stuck: Check whether the air outlet is blocked by foreign matter or air duct deformation, and that the damper opens normally.

If the motor works but the light does not, please check the following:

• The light connector is not connected: Check that the LED connector is connected.

• The light is out of order: Contact customer service to replace the lamp.

• The circuit or switch board is out of order: Contact customer service to replace the switch board or circuit board.

If the lights cannot be turned off, the circuit board is out of order. Please contact customer service to replace the circuit board.

Operations:

• Always leave safety grills and filters in place. Operating blowers without them could catch hair, fingers, and loose clothing.

• Never dispose of cigarette ashes, ignitable substances, or any foreign objects into blowers.

• Never leave cooking unattended. When frying, oil can overheat and catch fire.

• Never cook on “open” flames under the range hood.

• Keep the unit clean and free of grease and residue build-up to prevent possible fires.

• Clean filters periodically. Old and worn filters must be replaced immediately.

• SAFETY WARNING: Never put your hand into the area housing the fan while the fan is operating!

Cleaning Exterior Surfaces:

• Clean periodically with a stainless steel cleaner and a clean cotton cloth. Do not use corrosive or abrasive detergents or steel wool/scoring pads.

• If the hood looks splotchy, use a stainless steel cleaner. Avoid getting the solution on the control panel. Use a soft towel to wipe off the cleaning solution and gently rub off any stubborn spots. Dry the hood with a dry, soft towel.

• After cleaning, you may use a non-abrasive stainless steel polish. Always scrub lightly with a clean cotton cloth and with the grain.

Cleaning Grease Filters:

• Filters should be cleaned after every 30 hours of use.

• Baffle filters are NOT dishwasher safe. Spray with a degreasing detergent and leave to soak if very dirty. Dry the filters and re-install before using the hood.

WARNING: Never work on or clean the range hood while the power is on. Always unplug the unit or switch the electrical breaker to the off position.

1. Make sure the range hood is unplugged or the breaker is turned OFF.

2. Remove the baffle filters.

3. Remove the screws on the LED Light panel.

4. Remove the screws holding the control panel. Unplug the control panel and replace it with a new one.

5. Fix the screws holding the new control panel.

6. Fix the screws of the LED Light panel.

WARNING: Never work on or clean the range hood while the power is on. Always unplug the unit or switch the electrical breaker to the off position.

1. Make sure the range hood is unplugged or the breaker is turned OFF.

2. Remove the baffle filters.

3. Remove the screws on the circuit board box.

4. Take out the circuit board and unplug the wires connected to it one by one.

5. Replace the circuit board, plug the wires in one by one, and then secure the new circuit board with screws.

6. Put the wires back into the board box, fix the screws, cover the panel and secure it with screws.

WARNING: Light bulbs can become extremely hot. Do not touch the bulb until it is switched off and cooled. Touching hot bulbs could cause serious burns. Also ensure power is disconnected to avoid electrical shock.

1. Make sure the range hood is unplugged or the breaker is turned OFF and the lights are cool to the touch.

2. Place a flat-head screwdriver between the light housing and the hood body.

3. Gently pry up the light housing and search for the metal clip.

4. Apply force to the metal clip and pull out the light fixture.

5. Disconnect the power cable and discard the old light fixture.

6. Reverse the steps to install a new LED light fixture.

7. Turn ON the breaker and range hood to test for operation.

WARNING: Never work on or clean the range hood while the power is on. Always unplug the unit or switch the electrical breaker to the off position.

The removable plastic grease cup is designed to catch excess grease at the bottom of the motor. It’s recommended to remove and wash it every 2-3 months, then re-install it.

To remove or install the grease cup, first remove the baffle filters on your hood. Then, slide the cup into or out of the brackets located at the bottom of the motor.

It is better to duct your VIKIO RB11 range hood to the outside, but if this is not possible, a ductless/recirculating installation is an acceptable alternative.

No, the actual width of the VIKIO RB11 range hood will be slightly less than the generic description of the range hood in order to better fit cabinet cutouts.

This is a protective layer that is placed on all range hoods to prevent shipping damage. It should be removed after installation.

Your baffle filters should be washed with hot water and soap once per month or placed in a dishwasher for cleaning. Make sure filters are completely dry before reinstalling.

No, the charcoal odor filter cannot be washed. It must be discarded and replaced when it becomes noticeably dirty and/or has stopped filtering odors. The charcoal filter should be replaced at least every 3-6 months.
