The VERIZON ORBIC JOURNEY features several keys and components on its open view:

1. Earpiece: Allows you to hear the caller and automated prompts.

2. Soft Keys: Allow you to select the corresponding command at the lower left or right of the screen.

3. Send Key: Allows you to make and answer calls. Press from standby mode to access call history.

4. Contacts: Accesses the contacts list.

5. Clear Key: A quick press deletes spaces and characters. Hold to delete an entire text entry. Press to back out of menus, one level at a time.

6. Microphone: Transmits your voice to the caller or for voice-activated functions.

7. Navigation Key: Scrolls through menu items and highlights fields or objects.

8. Menu/OK: Selects options and menu options.

9. End/Power key: Turns the power on/off, ends calls, and exits menus. It also returns to the home screen.

10. Camera: Allows you to access the camera.

11. Numeric Keypad: Used for entering phone numbers and alphabetical text. Pressing numeric keys from the home screen can also access default shortcuts.

12. Vibrate mode key: Allows you to set Vibrate mode from the Home screen by pressing and holding for about 3 seconds.

13. Home screen: Displays messages, indicator icons, and active functions.

The exterior of the VERIZON ORBIC JOURNEY has the following features:

Side View:

14. USB/Charger Port: Connects the phone to the USB charger or other accessories.

15. Volume Key: Adjusts the volume.

16. Headset Jack: Allows you to plug in an optional 3.5mm headset.

Front/Back View:

17. Exterior Screen: Displays messages and notifications when the phone is closed.

18. Camera: The camera lens.

19. Speaker: Allows you to hear sounds from media content like music and ringtones.

Internal Components (under back cover):

20. Micro SD Card Slot: For an optional microSD card for external memory storage.

21. Battery: 1400 mAh battery.

22. SIM Card Slot: Nano SIM card slot.

23. Back Cover: Protects the internal components of your phone.

You can navigate your VERIZON ORBIC JOURNEY’s software using the following keys:

• Press the Left soft key to select the item displayed at the bottom left of the screen.

• Press the Right soft key to select the item displayed at the bottom right of the screen.

• Press the keypad key that corresponds to an item in a displayed list.

• Use the 4-way directional Navigation key (up, down, left, right) to move the cursor or scroll through menus. Press the center of the Navigation key (the OK key) to select the highlighted item.

From the Home screen, pressing the Navigation key up, down, left, or right also launches corresponding applications (Webpage searching, Notifications, Gallery, Quick settings).

Step 1. Remove the back cover

With the phone facing down, insert your fingernail into the cutout located on the bottom of the back cover and gently lift the cover.

Step 2. Insert the battery

Insert the battery, making sure the gold contacts line up. Push in and press down gently to secure.

Step 3. Replace the back cover

Place the back cover over the back of the phone and then press down along the edges to secure.

Step 4. Charge the phone

Before turning on your phone, charge it fully. Insert the small end of the USB cable into the phone. Insert the larger end into the charger and plug the charger into an outlet.

To conserve battery power on your VERIZON ORBIC JOURNEY, you can adjust the following settings:

• Lower the Screen brightness.

• Reduce the Backlight time.

• Turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off when not in use.

Removing the Battery:

1. With the phone facing down, insert your fingernail into the cutout on the bottom of the back cover and gently lift it off.

2. Use the fingertip cutout at the bottom of the battery compartment to lift the battery out.

Removing the SIM Card:

The SIM card is pre-installed. If you need to replace it, follow these steps:

1. Turn the phone off, then remove the back cover and the battery as described above.

2. Locate the slot for the SIM card and gently slide the SIM card tray down to unlock it.

3. Your SIM is now accessible by opening the tray.

Your VERIZON ORBIC JOURNEY supports a microSD card up to 128GB.

Inserting a microSD card:

1. Remove the back cover.

2. Position the microSD card (sold separately) with the label side facing up and the gold contacts toward the slot at the upper-right side of the phone.

3. Carefully slide the SD tray to the right to unlock it, then place the SD card in place and lock the tray by sliding it left.

To remove the microSD card:

Follow the same steps as inserting, but slide the tray to unlock and remove the card.

To turn your phone on or off, press and hold the End/Power key.

You can customize your Home screen wallpaper and clock format using the Settings app.

1. From the Home screen, press the OK key for Menu.

2. Go to Tools & Settings, press OK.

3. Press the 2 key, then press the 4 key to select Display settings.

• Wallpaper: Press the 2 key to select Wallpaper. You can select a background from pre-loaded images or your own pictures. Press Select, then Done.

• Clock Format: Press the 6 key to select Main clock. Select On or Off, then press OK.

The icons in the Status Bar at the top of your screen provide information about your phone’s status.

To open the Notifications view:

From the Home screen, press the Down Navigation key to open the Notification view. This displays a list of your current notifications.

To respond to a notification:

1. Open the Notifications view.

2. Use the Navigation key to highlight a notification.

• Press the OK key to open and view the details of the highlighted notification.

• Press the Left soft key to dismiss or delete a highlighted notification.

• Press the Right soft key for options to clear all notifications or access options for a highlighted notification.

Vibrate mode:

From the Home screen, press and hold the Vibrate mode key (#), then press OK. To return to Normal mode, press and hold the Vibrate mode key again, and then OK.

Sounds off:

From the Home screen, press and hold the Volume down key to set vibrate mode. Press the Volume down key once more to set Alarm only. Press it one more time to select All sounds off, then Set. To return to normal sounds, press and hold the Volume up key until the desired level is reached.

Press and hold the Volume down key and the End/Power key at the same time for 2 seconds to capture a screenshot of the current screen.

To view the captured image, from the Home screen press the OK key for Menu, then select Gallery.

When you are on a call and another call comes in, a beep will alert you.

• Press the Send key to answer the new call. This action puts the first call on hold.

• Press the Send key again to return to the first call.

You can talk with two people at the same time with a three-way conversation.

1. While on the first call, press the Right Soft Key for Options, select New call, then Dialer, and dial the 10-digit number of the second person.

2. Press the Send key. The first person is automatically put on hold.

3. When the second person answers, press the Right soft key for Options, then press the 2 key (Merge calls) to create a conference call.

4. To end both conversations, press the End/Power key.

The following key functions are available for text entry:

• Right soft key: Press to see the message screen.

• Left soft key: Press to change the text input mode (T9 Word / abc / Abc / ABC / 123 / Symbols).

• Next: Select different options to display other matching words in KT9 Word mode.

• * (Shift): Press to change capitalization (Lowercase, Initial cap, Caps lock).

• 0 (Space): Press to insert a space.

• CLR (Clear): Press to delete a single space or character. Press and hold to delete entire words.

• # (Punctuation): Press to insert punctuation symbols when using Abc text input mode.

Making Calls:

• From Home Screen: Press keypad keys to input the number, then press the Send key to initiate the call.

• From Contacts: Press the Menu key, scroll down to Contacts, highlight a contact, and press the Send key to call.

Answering or Rejecting a Call:

• If the phone is closed, it will automatically answer the call when you flip it open.

• If the phone is already open, you can select Answer on-screen or press the Send key to answer the call.

• To reject or end a call, select Ignore on-screen or press the End/Power key.

1. From the Home screen, press the Send key to view the list of recent calls.

2. Use the Navigation key to scroll left/right to display records by type: Missed, Received, Dialed, or All calls.

3. Use the Navigation key to highlight a call. From here, you have several options:

• Press the Left soft key to send a message to that number.

• Press the OK key to view additional call details.

• Press the Right soft key for more Options:

– Add to Contacts: Save the number as a new contact.

– Delete: Delete the highlighted call record.

– Delete multiple: Select multiple calls to delete.

– Lock: Block or unblock calls from the number.

– Add to call rejection: Add the number to your call rejection list.

You can delete recent call records individually or all at once.

1. From the Home screen, press the Send key to view your call logs.

2. Use the Navigation key to find and highlight a call record.

3. Press the Right soft key for Options.

• To delete a single record: Select 2. Delete, then Select, then Yes.

• To delete multiple records: Select 3. Delete multiple. Use the navigation key to select the calls you want to delete, press Select on each one, then press Delete, then Yes.

• To delete all records: Press the Right soft key for Options, then select 1. Select all, then Select, then Delete, then Yes.

1. From the Home screen, press the Left soft key (Contacts).

2. Press the Right soft key (Options).

3. Press the 1 key (New contact).

4. Enter the contact’s name.

5. Press the Down Navigation key to scroll to the phone number field and enter the number.

6. Use the Navigation key to scroll to other fields and enter additional information as needed.

7. When finished, press the OK key (Save) to save the entry.

Editing a Contact:

1. From the Home screen, press the Left soft key (Contacts).

2. Use the Navigation key to highlight a contact entry, then press the OK key (View).

3. Press the OK key (Edit) to make changes.

4. Use the Navigation key to highlight the field you want to change.

5. Make the changes, then press the OK key (Save) to update the contact entry.

Deleting a Contact:

1. From the Home screen, press the Left soft key (Contacts).

2. Use the Navigation key to highlight an entry.

3. Press the Right soft key (Options). Use the Navigation key to select 2. Delete, then Navigation key to Select, then Yes.

Pauses allow you to enter numbers for automated systems like voicemail or credit billing.

1. From the Home screen, enter the main phone number.

2. Press the Right soft key (Options).

3. Use the Navigation key to highlight “Add 2-sec pause” or “Add wait”, then press the OK key (Select).

• 2-Sec Pause (,): The phone waits two seconds before dialing the next series of digits.

• Wait (;): The phone dials the number but does not advance to the next digits until you release the pause by selecting “Yes” on the screen prompt.

4. Enter the additional numbers (e.g., PIN, account number).

5. When finished, press the Right soft key (Options), then press the 1 key (Add to Contacts) and save it as a new or updated contact.

Favorites:

1. From the Home screen, press the Left soft key (Contacts).

2. Use the Navigation key to highlight Favorites and press the OK key (View).

3. Press the OK key (Add).

4. Scroll through your contacts and press the OK key (Select) for each entry you want to add.

5. Press the Left soft key (Done).

Groups:

1. From the Home screen, press the Left soft key (Contacts).

2. Use the Navigation key to highlight Groups, then press the OK key (View).

• To Add a New Group: Press the Left soft key (1. New Group), enter a name, and press the OK key (Save).

• To Add Contacts to a Group: Highlight the group name, press OK (View), press the Right soft key (Options), then press 1 key (Edit). Press the Right soft key again (Options), then the 1 key (Add contacts). Highlight the desired contacts, press OK (Select) on each, then press the Left soft key (Done).

Assigning a Speed Dial:

1. From the main keypad, press and hold any number for 3 seconds to open the speed dial setup, then press the OK key.

2. Use the Navigation key to highlight a slot, then press the OK key.

3. Use the Navigation key to highlight a phone number from your contacts, then press the OK key (Set).

4. The speed dial is now set.

Removing a Speed Dial:

1. From the Home screen, press the Left soft key (Contacts).

2. Press the Right soft key (Options).

3. Press the 5 key (Speed dial setup).

4. Use the Navigation key to highlight a speed dial contact, then press the Left soft key (Remove).

5. Press the Left/Right soft key to select Yes.

You can add up to 5 emergency entries from your Contacts list that can be contacted on your behalf in an emergency, even if the phone is locked.

Assigning emergency contacts:

1. From the Home screen, press the Left soft key (Contacts).

2. Use the Navigation key to highlight In Case of Emergency, then press the OK key (View).

3. Use the Navigation key to highlight an empty Contacts name slot, then press the OK key (Set).

4. Use the Navigation key to highlight each desired contact, then press the OK key (Set) to add them.

Entering your ICE emergency info:

1. In the “In Case of Emergency” screen, use the Navigation key to highlight Personal info, then press the OK key (VIEW).

2. Press the OK key (Edit).

3. Enter information that would be helpful in an emergency (e.g., your Health record, Allergies), then press the OK key (Save).

1. From the Home screen, press the OK key (Menu), then navigate to and select Browser.

2. To enter a URL, press the Up Navigation key to move the cursor to the URL Address field and enter the web address.

3. Press the OK key to go to the web address.

Browser Options (Right soft key):

• History: View recently-viewed pages.

• Refresh: Reload the current web page.

• Bookmark page: Save the current URL as a bookmark.

• Screenshot: Capture an image of the current page.

• Share page: Copy the current URL to share via Message.

• Add page: Create a new tab.

• Home: Go to your home URL.

• Add Bookmarks: Access saved bookmarks.

Taking a photo:

1. From the Home screen, press the dedicated Camera Key.

2. Hold the phone and point the lens towards the subject.

3. Press the OK key to take a photo. Your picture will be automatically saved to the Gallery.

Viewing photos in the Gallery:

1. From the Home screen, press the OK key (Menu).

2. Press left to highlight Gallery, then press the OK key.

3. Use the Navigation key to highlight a thumbnail image, then press the OK key to open the picture.

Sharing content:

1. Open the Gallery and use the Navigation key to highlight a desired photo.

2. Press the Right soft key (Options), then press the 1 key (Send).

3. Use the Navigation key to select a sharing option (e.g., Message, Bluetooth).

4. Press the OK key and complete the sending method as necessary.

Assigning pictures:

1. Open the Gallery and highlight a desired photo.

2. Press the Right soft key (Options), then press the 2 key (Set as).

3. Use the Navigation key to select Wallpaper or Contact photo, then press the OK key (Select).

• Wallpaper: Assigns the picture as the background image. Crop as necessary.

• Contacts: Assigns the picture to a contact entry as a picture ID. Crop as necessary.

4. Use the Left and Right Soft keys to adjust the crop box, then press the OK key (Done).

1. From the Home screen, press the OK key (Menu), then press the Media center.

2. Press the 2 key (Music player).

3. Use the Navigation key to select a song in the Music library. You can scroll through categories.

4. Press the OK key to View, then press the OK key again to play the song.

Music Player Options:

• Repeat: Set the repeat mode (Off, One song, All songs).

• Shuffle On: Toggle the shuffle mode on or off.

• Add to playlist: Create or update playlists.

• Share: Share the selected song via Message or Bluetooth.

• Set as ringtone: Set the selected song as your phone ringtone.

• Delete: Delete the selected song.

• Details: View information about the selected song.

Adding an event:

1. From the Home screen, press the OK key, navigate to Tools & Settings, and select it.

2. Press the 1 key (Tools), then the 2 key (Calendar).

3. Use the Navigation key to highlight the scheduled day.

4. Press the Left soft key (New event).

5. Enter the Event name, then scroll down to set remaining settings (Location, Time, Reminders, etc.).

6. To set an option, highlight it and press the Left soft key (Set).

7. When finished, press the OK key (Save).

Editing or deleting an event:

1. Open the Calendar and select the day of the event.

2. Press the OK key (View). If there are multiple events, select the entry first.

• To edit: Press the Left soft key (Edit) to edit the calendar entry.

• To delete: Press the Right soft key (Options), then select 3. Delete.

Setting an alarm:

1. From the Home screen, press the OK key, navigate to Tool & settings, and select it.

2. Press the 1 key (Tools), then the 3 key (Alarm).

3. Press the Left soft key (New Alarm) to add an alarm for the first time.

4. Use the Navigation key to highlight the information you want to set (Turn On/Off, Set Time, Repeat, etc.), then press the Left soft key (Set) to view your choices.

5. After setting all fields, press the OK key (Save).

Editing an alarm:

1. From the Alarm clock list, use the Navigation key to highlight the alarm you want to edit.

2. Press the OK key (Edit), make your changes, and press OK to Save.

Deleting alarms:

1. From the Alarm clock list, press the Right soft key (Options).

2. You can then choose to delete the highlighted alarm (key 2) or delete all alarms (key 3).

Access all tools by going to Menu > Tools & Settings > Tools.

• World Clock (key 6): Press the OK key to add a city. Enter a city or state, highlight it, and press OK (Select).

• Timer (key 4): Press the Right soft key (Options), select 1.Add, use the Navigation key to enter the amount of time, then press OK (Set). Press the OK key to start the timer.

• Stopwatch (key 5): Press the OK key to start. Press the Left soft key to record Split times. Press the OK key again to Stop/Pause. Press the Right soft key to Reset.

• Calculator (key 1): Enter numbers and use the Navigation key to enter an operation (+, -, ÷, X). Press the OK key for the result. Press the Star key (*) for a decimal and the CLR key to clear entries.

Navigate to Menu > Tools & Settings > Settings > Wireless & networks.

Wi-Fi (key 2):

1. Press the Left soft key to Turn On/Off Wi-Fi.

2. Use the Navigation key to highlight a Wi-Fi network, then press the OK key (Connect) to connect to it.

3. Press the Right soft key for Options like adding a network manually, viewing saved networks, or accessing advanced settings.

Bluetooth (key 3):

1. Press the OK key (Select) to turn on Bluetooth.

2. The phone will list available devices. Use the Navigation key to highlight a device to pair and connect.

3. Press the Right soft key for Options like refreshing the list or renaming your device.

1. Go to Menu > Tools & Settings > Settings > Wireless & networks.

2. Press the 4 key for Tethering & Mobile HotSpot.

3. Select the method you want to use:

• USB tethering (key 1): Enable this option to connect via USB. This option is grayed out when not connected via USB.

• Set up Mobile Hotspot (key 2): Allows you to enter the SSID (network name) and security information for your mobile hotspot. Press the OK key to save, then OK to confirm.

TTY (Teletypewriter) mode allows users to communicate via text over the phone line. The VERIZON ORBIC JOURNEY supports several TTY modes, accessible from Menu > Tools & Settings > Settings > Accessibility > TTY mode.

Navigate to Menu > Tools & Settings > Settings.

Sound Settings (key 3):

Here you can adjust Master Volume, Phone Ringtone, Vibration pattern, Notification sounds, Alarm Sound, Keypad Volume/Tone, and various other audible alerts.

Display Settings (key 4):

• Brightness level: Use the Navigation key to adjust and press OK (Set).

• Wallpaper: Select an image from Preloaded or Gallery.

• Display backlight: Set the screen timeout duration.

• Key backlight: Set how long the keypad remains lit.

• Font size: Set the font size for the phone software.

• Main Clock: Set the clock displayed on the Home screen.

A factory reset will erase all data from your phone’s internal storage and restore it to default system settings.

1. Go to Menu > Tools & Settings > Settings > Phone settings.

2. Press the 6 key (Security).

3. Press the 4 key (Reset phone).

4. Use the Navigation key to scroll down and review any signed-in accounts.

5. Press the OK key to select Reset phone.

6. Press OK to select Erase Everything.

Navigate to Menu > Tools & Settings > Settings > Call settings.

• Blocked calls (key 7): View and manage your blocked calls list. Press the OK key to manually add a number. Press the Right soft key to remove a blocked number.

• Call forwarding (key 0): Redirect an incoming call to another number. Press the 1 key (On) to enable and enter the number. Press the 2 key (Off) to disable.

Other settings in this menu include Auto Answer, Quick responses, Voicemail setup, and Auto redial.

1. From the Home screen, press the OK key (Menu).

2. Go to Tools & Settings.

3. Press the 2 key (Settings).

4. Press the 8 key (Software update).

5. The options shown will be Check for updates and Show update History.

6. Press the 1 key (Check for updates) to see if any new software is available. If an update is found, you can begin the download by pressing the OK key (Download).

The VERIZON ORBIC JOURNEY is designed not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6W/kg.

For this device, the highest reported SAR values are:

Your phone meets the M3/T4 level rating.

• M-Ratings: Phones rated M3 or M4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to generate less interference to hearing devices than phones that are not labeled. M4 is the better/higher of the two ratings.

• T-Ratings: Phones rated T3 or T4 meet FCC requirements and are likely to be more usable with a hearing device’s telecoil (“T Switch” or “Telephone Switch”) than unrated phones. T4 is the better/higher of the two ratings.
