The functions of the remote control buttons are as follows:

1. **Standby:** Puts the TV in and out of standby mode.

2. **Yellow button:** Used for various menu functions.

3. **Blue button:** Used for various menu functions.

4. **Return / Exit menu / Index Page (in TXT mode):** Returns to the previous menu or exits.

5. **Navigation buttons:** (Up/Down/Left/Right) for navigating menus.

6. **OK / Channel list:** Confirms a selection or displays the channel list.

7. **Picture mode selection:** Cycles through picture modes.

8. **EPG (Programme Guide):** Displays the Electronic Programme Guide.

9. **Programme Up / Down:** Changes the channel.

11. **Previous programme:** Switches to the last viewed channel.

12. **Subtitle on/off:** Toggles subtitles.

The control buttons on the TV have the following functions:

1. **Standby Off/On button:** Switches the TV on or to standby mode.

2. **TV/AV button:** This is part of the multi-function P/V/AV button.

3. **Programme Up/Down buttons – Volume Up/Down buttons (+/-):** These buttons are multi-functional.

• **Volume:** By default, pressing the +/- buttons will change the volume.

• **Channels:** To change channels, press the P/V/AV button once, then use the +/- buttons to select the next or previous programme.

• **Source Selection:** To change the input source, press and hold the P/V/AV button for a few seconds until the source OSD is displayed. Then you can navigate the sources.

Please note that the main menu OSD cannot be displayed using the control buttons on the TV set.

The back of your TECHNIKA 22-910 TV has several connection ports:

• **HDMI 1 & HDMI 2 Inputs:** For connecting devices with an HDMI socket, such as a High Definition Satellite Receiver or DVD Player. These sockets can accept 720p or 1080p signals. No separate sound connection is needed for an HDMI to HDMI connection.

• **RF Input:** Connects to an aerial antenna system. If you use a decoder or media recorder, connect the aerial cable through the device to the television.

• **SCART:** Input or output for external devices like a VCR or DVD player. Connecting a device via SCART will automatically switch the TV to AV mode. S-VHS signals are supported via this socket.

• **PC Input (VGA):** For connecting a personal computer to the TV set. You can also use a YPbPr to VGA cable (not supplied) to enable YPbPr signal via this input, but you cannot use PC and YPbPr at the same time.

• **S/PDIF Coaxial Out:** Outputs digital audio signals of the currently watched source. Use an SPDIF coaxial cable to transfer audio to a device with an S/PDIF input.

The side panel of the TECHNIKA 22-910 provides the following connections:

1. **CI Slot:** Used for inserting a Conditional Access Module (CI card) to view subscription channels.

2. **Side USB input:** For connecting a USB memory device to view photos, play videos, and listen to music.

3. **TV control buttons:** For basic operation of the TV without the remote.

4. **Side audio-video connection input:** Used for connecting external devices like camcorders. Use the supplied AV connection cable. Plug the single jack into the TV’s Side AV socket. Then, connect your device’s video cable to the YELLOW input and audio cables to the RED and WHITE inputs on the plural side of the supplied cable. These audio inputs are also used for sound when connecting a device via PC or Component video input.

5. **Headphone jack:** Used for connecting external headphones to listen to the TV sound privately.

To display your computer’s screen on your TV, follow these steps. Power off both the computer and the TV before making connections.

1. **Video Connection:** Use a 15-pin D-sub display cable (VGA cable, not supplied) to connect the PC’s video output to the PC INPUT (VGA) on the back of the TV.

2. **Audio Connection:** To hear PC audio through the TV’s speakers, you will need a separate PC audio cable (not supplied). Connect this from your PC’s audio output to the audio inputs (RED & WHITE) on the supplied Side Audio/Video Connection Cable, which is then plugged into the SIDE AV input on the TV.

3. **Source Selection:** Power on the TV and PC. On the TV remote, press the SOURCE button and select PC source.

4. **Resolution:** Set the display resolution on your PC to one that is supported by the TV. Supported resolutions can be found in the appendix of the user manual.

You can connect a DVD player using one of three methods. Power off both the TV and the DVD player before making connections.

• **HDMI (Best Quality):** If your DVD player has an HDMI socket, use an HDMI cable (not supplied) to connect it to one of the HDMI inputs on the TV. This method provides the best video and audio quality and carries both signals in one cable. After connecting, select the corresponding HDMI source on your TV.

• **Component (YPbPr) (Better Quality):** This connection is made through the PC (VGA) input using a YPbPr to PC cable (not supplied). To enable audio, use the supplied Side AV connection cable to connect the DVD player’s audio outputs to the TV. After connecting, select the YPbPr source on your TV.

• **Scart (Good Quality):** Use a Scart cable (not supplied) to connect the DVD player’s Scart socket to the TV’s Scart socket. The TV will automatically switch to this source when the DVD player is turned on.

It is not necessary to connect using all three methods; choose the one that provides the best quality your DVD player supports.

Follow these steps to power your TV on and off:

To Switch the TV On:

1. Connect the power cord to a 220-240V AC, 50 Hz outlet. The standby LED will light up.

2. To switch the TV on from standby mode, you can either:

• Press the Standby button, P+/P- buttons, or a numeric button on the remote control.

• Press the Standby button or the Programme +/- buttons on the TV set.

The TV will then switch on.

To Switch the TV Off:

• To put the TV into standby mode, press the Standby button on the remote control or on the TV set.

• To power down the TV completely, unplug the power cord from the mains socket.

Once you have connected external devices to your TV, you can switch between them.

1. Press the “SOURCE” button on your remote control.

2. A “Sources list” will appear on the screen, showing options like TV, SCART, SIDE AV, HDMI1, HDMI2, YPbPr, and VGA/PC.

3. Press the “SOURCE” button repeatedly, or use the navigation buttons, to highlight and select your desired input source.

When you turn on the TV for the very first time, the installation wizard will guide you through the setup process. Ensure your aerial is connected before you begin.

1. **Language Selection:** The “First time installation” screen will appear. Use the up/down buttons to select your preferred language and press OK.

2. **Country and Teletext Settings:** A “Welcome!” screen will be displayed. Select your country, Teletext language, and choose whether to “Scan Encrypted” channels (select Yes if you want to scan for coded stations).

3. **Automatic Channel Scan:** A message will ask, “Do you want to start an automatic channel scan?”. Highlight “Yes” and press OK.

4. **Scanning:** The TV will now search for all available digital terrestrial TV broadcasts. This will take a few minutes. You can press the “M” (Menu) button to cancel at any time.

5. **Channel List:** After the scan is complete, the Channel List will be displayed. You may be asked if you want to sort the channels according to the LCN (Logical Channel Number). Select “Yes” and press OK.

6. **Finish:** Press the OK button to quit the channel list and start watching TV.

You can edit the channel list to move, delete, rename, and lock channels.

1. Press the “M” (Menu) button and select “Channel List”.

2. Select “Edit Channel List” and press OK.

3. Use the up/down buttons to highlight a channel.

To Move a Channel:

• Highlight the channel, select the “Move” option, and press OK. Enter the new channel number you want it to have and press OK. Confirm if prompted.

To Delete a Channel:

• Highlight the channel you want to delete and select the “Delete” option. Press OK. A confirmation screen will appear; select YES to delete.

To Rename a Channel:

• Highlight the channel, select “Edit Name”, and press OK. Use the navigation buttons to enter the new name. Press OK to save.

To Lock a Channel:

• Highlight the channel and select the “Lock” option. Press OK. You will be prompted to enter your parental control PIN (default is 0000). Once locked, a lock symbol will appear next to the channel.

You can play video, photo, and music files from a connected USB memory stick.

1. Plug your USB device into the USB port on the side of the TV. The Media Browser screen should appear automatically.

2. If it does not appear, press the “M” (Menu) button, select “Media Browser” and press OK.

3. On the Media Browser screen, use the left/right buttons to select “Videos”, “Photos”, “Music”, or “Settings”.

4. **For Videos:** Select a video file using the up/down buttons and press OK to play. During playback, you can use the coloured buttons and navigation keys for functions like play, pause, stop, rewind, forward, and subtitle/audio selection.

5. **For Photos:** Select a photo file and press OK to view it in full screen. Press the GREEN button to start a slideshow of all images. You can use the on-screen options to pause, continue, zoom, and rotate images.

6. **For Music:** Select an audio file and press OK to play. Use the on-screen options to play, pause, stop, and skip tracks.

You can change the aspect ratio (image size) of the TV screen to suit the content you are watching by pressing the “SCREEN” button on your remote control repeatedly. The available zoom modes are:

• **Auto:** The aspect ratio is automatically adjusted based on the information provided by the source signal. This mode is available in HDMI, YPbPr and DTV sources.

• **16:9:** This mode stretches a normal picture (4:3 aspect ratio) to fill the wide TV screen. It is also used to restore a 16:9 picture that has been squeezed into a 4:3 format.

• **Subtitle:** This zooms up a wide picture (16:9 aspect ratio) to fill the screen while keeping subtitles visible.

• **14:9:** Zooms up a wide picture (14:9 aspect ratio) to the upper and lower limits of the screen.

• **14:9 Zoom:** This option zooms into the 14:9 picture.

• **4:3:** Use this mode to view a normal picture (4:3 aspect ratio) in its original size, with black bars on the sides.

• **Panoramic:** This stretches the left and right sides of a normal 4:3 picture to fill the screen, without making the picture appear unnatural. The top and bottom of the picture are slightly cut off.

• **Cinema:** This zooms up a wide picture (16:9 aspect ratio) to the full screen, often used for cinematic content.

To adjust the picture settings for your TECHNIKA 22-910:

1. Press the “M” (Menu) button.

2. Use the navigation buttons to select the Picture icon (usually looks like a screen) and press OK.

3. The Picture Settings menu will appear. You can adjust the following options:

• **Mode:** Set to Cinema, Game, Dynamic, or Natural for preset viewing requirements.

• **Contrast:** Adjusts the lightness and darkness values of the screen.

• **Brightness:** Sets the overall brightness level.

• **Sharpness:** Adjusts the sharpness of objects on the screen.

• **Colour:** Sets the colour saturation value.

• **Colour Shift:** Adjusts the desired colour tone.

• **Colour Temp:** Sets the colour tone to Cool (slight blue tint), Normal, or Warm (slight red tint).

• **Noise Reduction:** Reduces picture noise if the broadcast signal is weak. Options are Low, Medium, High, or Off.

• **Game Mode:** When set to On, optimizes settings for better video quality during gaming.

• **Picture Zoom:** Sets the picture size (aspect ratio).

• **Reset:** Resets all picture settings to the factory defaults.

4. Use the up/down buttons to highlight an item and the left/right buttons to change its value. Press “M” to exit the menu.

To configure the sound settings for your TECHNIKA 22-910:

1. Press the “M” (Menu) button.

2. Use the navigation buttons to select the Sound icon (usually looks like a speaker) and press OK.

3. The Sound Settings menu will appear. You can adjust the following options:

• **Volume:** Adjusts the master volume level.

• **Equalizer:** Press OK to access the equalizer sub-menu. You can choose a preset (Music, Movie, Speech, Flat, Classic) or select ‘User’ to manually adjust the frequency bands (120Hz, 500Hz, 1.5KHz, 5.0KHz, 10.0KHz).

• **Balance:** Adjusts the sound balance between the left and right speakers.

• **Headphone:** Sets the volume level for connected headphones.

• **AVL (Automatic Volume Limiting):** When on, this function maintains a consistent output level between programmes, which is useful for preventing loud commercials.

• **Dynamic Bass:** Increases the bass effect of the TV set.

• **Digital Out:** Sets the digital audio output type (e.g., PCM).

4. Use the up/down buttons to highlight an item and the left/right buttons to change its value. Press “M” to exit.

To lock menus, channels, or set viewing restrictions, follow these steps:

1. Press the “M” (Menu) button, navigate to the Settings icon, and press OK.

2. Select “Parental” and press OK.

3. You will be prompted to enter a PIN. The factory default PIN is **0000**.

4. After entering the correct PIN, the Parental Settings menu will appear with the following options:

• **Menu Lock:** Enables or disables access to installation menus or the entire menu system.

• **Maturity Lock:** When set, this uses broadcast information to restrict access to programmes based on their maturity rating.

• **Child Lock:** When set to ON, the TV can only be controlled by the remote control; the buttons on the TV set will be disabled (except for the Standby Off/On button).

• **Set PIN:** Allows you to define a new PIN. You will need to enter the new PIN twice to confirm it. It is important to remember this new PIN.

You can set a Sleep Timer to turn the TV off automatically or set Programme Timers for specific events.

1. Press the “M” (Menu) button, navigate to the Settings icon, and press OK.

2. Select “Timers” and press OK.

Setting the Sleep Timer:

• Highlight “Sleep Timer” using the up/down buttons.

• Use the left/right buttons to set the timer. You can program it from “Off” up to 2 hours (120 minutes) in steps of 30 minutes.

Setting Programme Timers:

• Select “Programme Timers”.

• **To Add a Timer:** Press the YELLOW button. In the menu that appears, set the Channel, Date, Start time, and End time. You can also set it to repeat (Once, Daily, Weekly). Press the GREEN button to save the timer.

• **To Edit a Timer:** Highlight an existing timer you wish to change and press the GREEN button. Make your adjustments and press GREEN again to save.

• **To Delete a Timer:** Highlight the timer you want to remove and press the RED button. Select YES to confirm the deletion.

Your TV can find and update its software over the broadcast channels. It is recommended to auto search and update all available channels before performing a software upgrade.

1) Manual Software Upgrade Search:

• Navigate to the main menu. Choose **Settings** and then select **Other Settings**.

• In the Other Settings menu, navigate to the **Software Upgrade** item and press OK to open the **Upgrade Options** menu.

• In the Upgrade Options menu, select **Scan for upgrade** and press the OK button.

• If a new upgrade is found, it will start to download. A progress bar will be displayed. When the download is complete, a message will appear asking you to reboot to activate the new software. Press OK to reboot the TV.

2) 3 AM Automatic Search and Upgrade Mode:

• If **Automatic scanning** in the Upgrade Options menu is enabled, the TV will automatically wake up at 03:00 AM while in standby mode to search for new software. If new software is found and downloaded successfully, the TV will open with the new software version the next time it is powered on.

Important Note on Rebooting: The reboot is the final step. During the reboot, the front LED will blink. This process takes about 5 minutes. **Caution: While the LED is blinking during the reboot, do not unplug your TV’s power.** Doing so may cause the TV not to re-open again, which can only be fixed by service personnel.

Here are some tips for common issues:

• **Poor Picture:**

– Have you selected the correct TV system?

– Is your TV aerial located too close to non-earthed audio equipment or neon lights?

– Mountains or high buildings can cause ghost images. Try changing the direction of the aerial.

– If the picture or teletext is unrecognisable, check if you have entered the correct frequency and try retuning the channels.

– Picture quality may degrade if two devices are connected at the same time. Try disconnecting one of them.

• **No Picture:**

– Check that the aerial is connected properly and the plugs are tight.

– Ensure the correct input source has been selected from the source menu.

• **No Sound:**

– Check if you have pressed the Mute button on the remote.

– Check the speaker Balance setting in the Sound Menu to ensure it is not set to one extreme.

• **Remote Control Not Working:**

– The batteries may be exhausted. Replace them.

– You can still use the local buttons on the TV set to operate it.

• **Input Sources Cannot Be Selected:**

– If you cannot select an input source, it is possible that no device is connected to that input. Check your AV cables and connections.

• **Image Persistence (Ghosting):**

– Ghosting may occur if a static image is displayed for a long time. This should disappear after a short period. To avoid this, do not leave the screen in a still picture for extended periods. Try turning the TV off for a while.
