When the unit is turned on, switching on the TV may cause lines to appear on the TV screen, depending on the wave frequency of the TV broadcast. This is not a malfunction in the unit or the TV. If you see such lines, place this unit far away from the TV set.


What is considered good sound etiquette when using this unit?

What is music to you may be noise to others. Even a little sound can be clearly heard on a silent night. Low sound passes through floors and walls easily, and may annoy others unintentionally. Enjoy music at an appropriate volume, close the window, or use headphones to ensure a pleasant living environment.

COAXIAL (Coaxial digital input)

OPTICAL (Optical digital input)

The input indicator of the selected source and the indicator of the input sampling frequency will light up.


What do the input indicators show?

The input indicator for the source being selected lights up.


What if an input indicator blinks?

An input indicator blinks when the input signal is not digital audio data or the format of the audio signal is not compatible with this unit, such as Dolby Digital, dts, or AAC. If this happens, set the digital OUT setting of the connected device to PCM audio output.


What do the frequency indicators show?

The frequency indicators show the sampling frequency of the signal being input by lighting up.


What if the frequency indicators blink?

The frequency indicators will blink when there is no input signal or the input signal cannot be locked.


What happens if the input signal sampling frequency is 32 kHz?

If the sampling frequency of the input signal is 32 kHz, the frequency indicators do not light up, but the input indicators do.


How do I use headphones with the unit?

Insert the headphone plug (stereo standard) into the headphone terminal (PHONES), and gradually adjust the volume with the volume control (PHONES LEVEL). Remember to set the volume to the minimum level before putting on headphones and avoid power cycling or plugging/unplugging headphones while wearing them to prevent sudden loud sounds and potential hearing loss.


What is the general playback procedure?

1. Press the POWER button to turn the unit power ON. If a power amplifier is connected, turn on the power amplifier last.

To play back music files stored on a computer with this unit via USB, you must install dedicated TEAC driver software on the computer before making your USB connections. This driver software is necessary for proper function.

If you connect the unit with the computer before installing the driver, it will not function properly. Moreover, when using Windows XP, the computer could become remarkably slower and require restarting in some cases.

This unit can be connected by USB and used with a computer running:

The unit connects to the computer using HIGH SPEED asynchronous mode.

Sampling frequencies that can be transmitted via USB are 32 kHz*, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz and 192 kHz.

* If the sampling frequency of the input signal is 32 kHz, the frequency indicators do not light up, but the input indicators do.


How do I know if the USB audio connection to the computer is successful?

If the connection has been made properly after installing the driver, “TEAC USB HS ASYNC AUDIO” will be selectable as an audio output destination on your computer.


What is the benefit of asynchronous mode for USB audio?

In asynchronous mode, jitter that occurs during transfer is suppressed because the clock signal of this unit is used for playback of the audio data transmitted from the computer.

When playing back a music file using the USB connection, computer operation sounds will also be played through this unit. To avoid this, make appropriate settings on the computer (e.g., setting the TEAC device as the default audio output only for music applications, or muting system sounds).


What if music files do not play back properly after connecting the unit or selecting USB input while music software is running?

If you connect this unit with the computer or you set this unit’s input to “USB” after starting music playback software, music files might not play back properly. If this occurs, restart the music playback software or reboot the computer.


What should I do if the unit has no power?

Check the connection to the AC power source. If the AC source is a switched outlet, make sure that the switch is turned on.

Make sure power is supplied to the AC outlet by plugging in another item such as a lamp or a fan.


What should I do if the unit is not recognized by my computer?
