What is the intended use of the SYGONIX 1765329 Intermediate Switch?
The SYGONIX 1765329 intermediate switch for personal protection detects fault currents. When they occur (>10 mA), it interrupts the power supply of the consumer load connected to it (turn off time <30 ms). The product is splash-proof in accordance with IP55 and can be operated indoors and outdoors.
What type of connection cables are required for the SYGONIX 1765329?
Only use suitable flexible connecting cables when installing the intermediate switch for personal protection in outdoor areas. Never use thin power cords which are intended for use in indoor areas. Inflexible installation cables may not be used either.
How do I install the connection cables on the SYGONIX 1765329?
Follow these steps to install the cables:
1. Remove the cover from the rear of the switch by unscrewing a total of 4 screws.
2. Inside the plastic casing, locate the 3-pole screw terminals labeled “POWER” (for mains cable connection: L + N + Protective Earth Conductor/PE) and “LOAD” (for connection to the consumer load).
3. Push the corresponding cable through the lock nut and the rubber gasket. Ensure the cable is not too loose but can be pushed in tightly to maintain IP55 protection.
4. Strip approx. 2 cm from the cable. Then strip approx. 6 – 8 mm from the three individual wires and use suitable core end sleeves.
5. Insert the 3 coloured individual cables into the corresponding terminals: brown cable into screw terminal L, blue cable into screw terminal N, and yellow/green cable into the screw terminal with the earth symbol. Screw them tightly.
6. Fasten the lock nut and check that the cable is securely sealed and the strain relief ensured.
7. Mount the cover and screw it in place using the 4 screws removed at the start.
Note: Ensure the rubber gasket for the cover is located in its slot and is not squeezed by the cover. If not correctly placed, IP55 protection is no longer guaranteed.
How do I perform a functional test on the SYGONIX 1765329 before starting up?
Prior to each start-up, the activation of the intermediate switch for personal protection must be tested:
1. Connect the intermediate switch to the mains voltage.
2. Open the transparent plastic cover.
3. Press the “TEST” button. Its triggering must be audible, and the control light above the “RESET” button should go out.
4. Press the “RESET” button (if required, press it twice if the control lamp does not light up after pressing the first time). The switch is now operational, and the control lamp should light up again.
If the control lamp does not light up, check the mains cable.
What should I do if the SYGONIX 1765329 triggers during operation?
If the intermediate switch has been triggered, do not use it any longer. Check the consumer load (or the cable) for potential damages. In case of doubt, take the products to a specialist workshop or have them checked by an expert (e.g., electrician). If there is mains voltage, the switch has triggered due to a fault of the connected consumer load and prevents reactivation.
How do I clean and care for the SYGONIX 1765329?
The product is maintenance-free. Before cleaning, disconnect it from the power supply. Clean the outer side with a dry, clean, soft cloth. Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions since these might damage the surface of the casing or impair the operation.
