How can I interpret the information shown on the LCD display?
The LCD display shows the following information (using an example of 5600K, 100% dimmer, battery power, DMX mode, address 008):
① Current communication control mode (e.g., DMX)
② Current communication control mode (e.g., interaction control mode if selected)
③ Brightness display (e.g., 100%)
④ Communication address (e.g., 008)
⑤ CT (Color Temperature) display (e.g., 5600K)
⑥ Power supply display (shows an icon for AC adaptor power supply)
⑦ Power supply display (shows an icon for battery power supply)
How is the remaining battery capacity displayed on the LCD?
When powered by battery, the battery capacity will be displayed as follows:
| Four LEDs | About 80%-100% |
| Three LEDs | About 60%-80% |
| Two LEDs | About 40%-60% |
| One LED | About 20%-40% |
| No display (outline boarder flicker) | Under 20%, lack of power |
How do I install the optional honeycomb accessory?
Please confirm the type of honeycomb before use. The available types and sizes are:
| Honeycomb type | PL-E60D | PL-E90D |
|---|---|---|
| Big honeycomb (L x W x H) | 290mm x 290mm x 10mm | 558mm x 290mm x 10mm |
| Small honeycomb (L x W x H) | 268mm x 268mm x 10mm | 536mm x 268mm x 10mm |
1) Purchase of big honeycomb: The installation method is shown in Fig. 10.
2) Purchase of small honeycomb: The small honeycomb can be used simultaneously with the barndoor. After installing the barndoor (as shown in Fig. 11), fix the honeycomb by rotating the pressure plate (Fig. 12 ⑬), and then use the light normally.
How do I install the optional barn door accessory?
The method to install the barn door is shown in Fig. 9 and Fig. 11.
Note: Put the low head screws upward during the installation.
How do I mount the light?
Users can install the light on a tripod or stand. Adjust the desired beam angle by using the bracket knobs (Fig. 4 ⑤ / Fig. 5 ⑤) on both sides of the U-shape bracket.
How do I power the light?
The light provides two ways of power supply:
1. By V-mount or Gold mount battery attached to the battery plate (Fig. 6 ⑥ / Fig. 7 ⑥).
2. By 4-pin XLR AC-DC power connected to the DC11-36V IN socket (Fig. 6 ⑨ / Fig. 7 ⑨).
Turn on the light using the power switch (Fig. 6 ⑫ / Fig. 7 ⑫) and set the color temperature and brightness to your requirements.
How do I connect and disconnect the 4-pin XLR power adaptor correctly?
(1) Connection:
Align the hump of the output male XLR plug (from the adaptor) to the gap of the DC socket (Fig. 6 ⑨ / Fig. 7 ⑨) on the light. Connect the XLR and DC socket. The adaptor will connect securely with the light when you hear a click sound.
(2) Disconnection:
Hold the hump/release mechanism on the female XLR plug (from the adaptor) and pull it out from the DC socket. The power adaptor and the light will be disconnected.
How do I adjust the brightness (Dimmer) and color temperature?
The light offers two adjustment modes: normal and quick. Switch between modes by pressing the dimmer knob (Fig. 6 ⑬ / Fig. 7 ⑬) or the color temperature (CT) dimming knob (Fig. 6 ⑦ / Fig. 7 ⑦).
3.1 Normal adjusting mode:
(1). Color temperature adjust: Rotate the CT dimming knob (Fig. 6 ⑦ / Fig. 7 ⑦). Range: 2700K-6500K, adjustment step: 50K.
(2). Dimmer adjust: Rotate the Dimmer knob (Fig. 6 ⑬ / Fig. 7 ⑬). Range: 0%-100%, adjustment step: 1%.
3.2 Quick adjusting mode:
(1). Color temperature adjust: Press the CT dimming knob (Fig. 6 ⑦ / Fig. 7 ⑦) to cycle through common color temperatures: 2700K, 3200K, 4500K, 5600K, and 6500K.
(2). Dimmer adjust: Press the Dimmer knob (Fig. 6 ⑬ / Fig. 7 ⑬) to adjust in larger steps. Range: 0%-100%, adjustment step: 10%.
How do I set the DMX Communication Address?
1. Press and hold the dimmer knob (Fig. 6 ⑬ / Fig. 7 ⑬) for 2 seconds to enter the communication address setting interface.
2. The address setting range is 001 to 512.
3. The communication address digits on the LCD (Fig. 8 ④) will flash, indicating it’s selected.
4. Rotate the dimmer knob (Fig. 6 ⑬ / Fig. 7 ⑬) to set the desired address.
5. Press the dimmer knob (Fig. 6 ⑬ / Fig. 7 ⑬) to confirm the setting.
6. After finishing the setting, press the dimmer knob again or wait for about 5 seconds to exit the setting interface.
How do I set the Communication Control Mode (DMX or Interaction)?
Connect the lights network using DMX cables via the DMX IN (Fig. 6 ⑧ / Fig. 7 ⑧) and DMX OUT (Fig. 6 ⑩ / Fig. 7 ⑩) ports.
Press and hold the color temperature (CT) adjusting knob (Fig. 6 ⑦ / Fig. 7 ⑦) for around 2 seconds to switch between communication control modes.
How does DMX Communication Mode work?
When the upper left corner of the LCD shows “DMX” (Fig. 8 ①), the light is in DMX communication mode.
In this mode, connect a DMX signal output device (controller) to the lights network and set the communication address (001-512) on each light.
Each light occupies 2 DMX control channels:
- The set DMX address (N) controls Brightness (0%-100%).
- The next address (N+1) controls Color Temperature (2700K-6500K).
For example:
| DMX Communication address | DMX Control address | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 005 | 005 | Brightness 0%-100% |
| 006 | Color temperature 2700K-6500K |
How does Interaction Control Mode work?
When the upper left corner of the LCD shows “CH” (Fig. 8 ②), the light is in interaction control mode.
In this mode, set the target lights to the same communication address. All lights with the same address will work together.
Adjusting the brightness or color temperature on any light within the group will control all other lights set to the same address.
The master-slave relationship is not distinguished; any light can act as a controller for the group.
What is the purpose of the USB socket?
The USB socket (Fig. 6 ⑪ / Fig. 7 ⑪) is a reserved socket. Please use it according to the specified using environment for related products, and do not use it for other purposes to avoid damage.
What are the recommended power adaptor specifications?
The parameters of the recommended adaptor are below:
| No. | Specification | Parameter |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | DC output socket | 4Pin XLR |
| 2 | Adapter output power polarity | Pin 1″-“, Pin 4″+” |
| 3. | Working voltage | AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz |
| 4 | Output voltage | DC 11-36V |
| 5 | Voltage accuracy | ±5% |
| 6 | Rated Power (Max.) | ≥90W(PL-E60D) ≥105W(PL-E90D) |
| 7 | Power factor | ≥0.9 |
