To operate the Remote Keyless Entry system:

Lock/Arm: Press the lock button to lock all doors and the trunk and activate the security alarm. If any of the doors or the trunk are not fully closed, an electronic chirp will sound five times and the hazard lights will flash five times to alert you.

Vehicle Finder Function: Press the lock button three times within five seconds. If you are within 30 feet of the vehicle, the horn will sound one time and the hazard lights will flash three times.

Unlock/Disarm: Press the unlock button once to unlock the driver’s door. Press twice within five seconds to unlock all doors. When the unlock button is pressed, the dome and map lights will illuminate if the dome light switch is in the middle position.

Opening the Trunk Lid: Press and hold the trunk button to unlock the trunk lid. An electronic chirp will sound twice and the hazard lights will flash twice.

Panic Alarm: Press the panic button. The horn will sound and the hazard lights will flash. Press any button on the remote to deactivate.

Forward/Backward, Angle and Height: Move the switch toward the front or rear to move the seat forward or backward. Pull the switch up or push down on the front of the switch to adjust the angle of the seat cushion. Pulling the switch straight up or pushing the switch straight down will adjust the height of the entire seat cushion.

Seatback: Move the switch in the corresponding direction to adjust the angle of the seatback.

Lumbar Support: Press the front part of the switch to increase lumbar support; press the rear part of the switch to decrease lumbar support.

If equipped, press the switch in the corresponding direction for the desired seat temperature. To turn off the seat heater, slightly press in the opposite direction of the current position.

Open the trunk lid. Pull the release lever on the seat side that you want to fold down. To return the seatback to its original position, raise the seatback until it locks into place, making sure that it is securely locked.

Seatbelt warning: Indicates driver seatbelt is unfastened.

Front passenger seatbelt warning: Indicates passenger seatbelt is unfastened.

SRS airbag system: Indicates a malfunction in the airbag system.

Security indicator light: Indicates status of the security system.

Charge warning: Indicates a charging system malfunction.

Oil pressure warning: Indicates low oil pressure.

Brake system: Indicates parking brake is on or fluid is low.

Hot coolant temperature / Cold coolant temperature: Indicates engine temperature status.

High beam indicator light: Illuminates when high beams are on.

Engine oil level warning: Indicates low engine oil level.

AT OIL TEMP: Indicates automatic transmission fluid temperature is high.

ABS warning: Indicates a malfunction in the Anti-lock Brake System.

Low fuel: Indicates fuel level is low.

All-Wheel Drive: Indicates status of AWD system (Automatic Transmission).

Vehicle Dynamics Control: Flashes during activation.

Vehicle Dynamics Control OFF: Indicates system is deactivated.

CHECK ENGINE / Malfunction indicator: Indicates an engine or emissions control malfunction.

Tire pressure warning light: Indicates low tire pressure.

Hill Holder: Indicates Hill Holder system status.

Push the lever down firmly to adjust the height and lengthwise position of the column. Firmly push the lever back up to lock the column in place. Do not adjust while driving.

With the moonroof in the fully closed position, press the switch to tilt the rear of the moonroof up. Press and hold the switch to lower the moonroof. Press the switch to fully open the moonroof. Press the switch to close the moonroof. To stop the moonroof in a midway position while opening or closing, momentarily press the switch.

AUTO: The vehicle’s lights are automatically on or off depending on the level of the outside light.

Headlights Position: Turns on headlights, instrument panel illumination, parking lights, taillights, and license plate lights.

Parking Lights Position: Turns on instrument panel lights, tail lights, parking lights, and license plate lights.

Fog Lights: Turns on fog lights (if equipped).

Turn Signals: Push up for right turn signal. Push down for left turn signal.

High Beams: Push the lever forward for high beams. Pull back to flash.

Instrument Panel Illumination: Rotate the dial downward to dim the instrument panel illumination. Rotate the dial upward to make the illumination brighter. When the dial is fully rotated upward, the instrument panel illumination becomes full bright.

To turn on the wipers, press the wiper control lever down one level for intermittent, two levels for low, or three levels for high speed. Return the lever to the “OFF” position to stop the wipers. For a single wipe, move the lever up. To spray washer fluid, pull and hold the lever toward you.

Temperature Control Dial: Rotate the dial from blue for cool to red for warm.

Air Conditioning Button: Press the “A/C” button to activate the air conditioning. Press it again to turn off.

Recirculated / Outside Air Button: Press the button to prevent outside air from being drawn into the passenger compartment. If the button is pushed in, press it again to draw outside air into the compartment. To prevent windshield fogging, do not remain in the recirculated mode for an extended period.

Fan Speed Control Dial: Rotate the dial to select one of four fan speeds.

Rear Window Defogger Button: Press to turn on the defogger. It will automatically shut off after about 15 minutes.

Defrost / Defog: To clear the windshield and front door windows of fog or frost, press the defrost button, set the temperature control to the red position, and set the fan speed control to the fastest speed.

Air Flow Control Buttons: Press in the desired button to choose the direction of air flow.

Automatic On and Off: Press “AUTO” to activate. This system automatically controls outlet air temperature, fan speed, air flow distribution, air inlet control, and compressor operation. Press “OFF” to turn off the system.

Temperature Control Buttons: Press the blue down arrow (cool) or the red up arrow (warm) to select and maintain a comfortable climate.

Fan Speed Control Buttons: Press to select six different fan speed positions.

Air Flow Mode Selection Button: Press to select the desired air flow mode.

Dual Mode Button: Press the “DUAL” button to activate or deactivate the dual mode, allowing separate temperature settings for the driver’s side and passenger’s side.

Defroster Button: Press to defrost or dehumidify the windshield and front door windows.

1. Press the MENU button; then touch the “Phone” soft key on the touch screen.

2. Touch “Bluetooth Settings.”

3. Touch “Register.”

4. A pass-key number will appear on the screen.

5. Put your phone into Bluetooth pairing mode and pair your phone to the system using the pass-key provided. When the phone is successfully paired, the screen will show the phone’s name on the list.

1. Press the phone off hook button.

2. Rotate the tune knob to select “Pair Phone”.

3. Follow the audible prompt, then select “Record Name” and then say the name to be registered.

4. Select “Confirm pair phone?”.

5. Select “Device Type”.

6. Select “Phone Only” to register a cell phone.

7. After “Car Multi-Media” is displayed, a pass key to pair phone will be displayed.

8. Input the displayed passkey into the cell phone while “Passkey: ****” is displayed.

9. “Phone paired successfully” will be displayed when pairing has been completed.

To apply: Push the brake pedal and press the parking brake switch firmly. The brake system warning light on the instrument panel and the indicator light on the parking brake switch will illuminate.

To release: Make sure all doors are closed and your seatbelt is fastened, then gently push the accelerator pedal. Or, while the ignition switch is in the ON position and the brake pedal and the clutch pedal (MT models only) are pushed in, pull the parking brake switch toward you.

When the Hill Holder function is activated, the parking brake will be automatically applied when stopped on an uphill or downhill slope with the brake pedal pushed down. The brake system warning light and the indicator light on the parking brake switch will illuminate. To activate, press the Hill Holder switch. To deactivate, press the Hill Holder switch again.

Normal Mode: When the selector lever is in the “D” (Drive) position, the transmission is in Normal shift mode. The shift position indicator on the instrument panel shows “D” and the transmission automatically shifts into a suitable forward gear.

Manual Mode: In Manual Mode, you select the desired gear position to obtain necessary acceleration and engine braking. Moving the selector lever left into the manual gate from the “D” (Drive) position causes the transmission to change into Manual Mode. To shift, use the paddle shift control switches. The shift position indicator shows the selected gear position.

In the event that children or adults become locked inside the trunk, this luminescent handle allows them to open the lid from inside the trunk. To open, simply pull the yellow handle downward as indicated by the arrow on the handle, and then push up on the lid.

A jack and other maintenance tools are stored in the tool bucket in the center of the spare tire, located in the trunk or cargo area. Raise the center lid and remove the bucket from the center of the spare tire. Take the jack out of the bucket. The jack handle is stowed on the back of the floor cover of the trunk.

Since all-wheel drive distributes engine power to all four wheels, improper towing will severely damage your AWD system. A flatbed truck is the only recommended way to properly transport your AWD vehicle. If towing is necessary, it is best done by your Subaru dealer or a commercial towing service.

1. Make sure the booster battery is 12 volts and the negative terminal is grounded.

2. If the booster battery is in another vehicle, do not let the two vehicles touch.

3. Turn off all unnecessary lights and accessories.

4. Connect one jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal on the discharged battery.

5. Connect the other end of the jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the booster battery.

6. Connect one end of the other cable to the negative (−) terminal of the booster battery.

7. Connect the other end of the cable to the strut mounting nut.

8. Start the engine of the vehicle with the booster battery and run it at moderate speed. Then start the engine of the vehicle that has the discharged battery.

9. When finished, carefully disconnect the cables in exactly the reverse order.

If the engine overheats, pull off the road safely and stop the vehicle in a safe place.

If steam is coming from the engine compartment: Turn off the engine and get everyone away from the vehicle until it cools down.

If no steam is coming from the engine compartment:

1. Keep the engine running at idling speed.

2. Open the hood to ventilate the engine compartment. Confirm that the cooling fan is turning. If the fan is not turning, immediately turn off the engine.

3. After the engine coolant temperature has dropped, turn off the engine.

4. After the engine has fully cooled down, check the coolant level in the reserve tank. If below “LOW”, add coolant to “FULL”.

5. If there is no coolant in the reserve tank, add coolant to the reserve tank. Then remove the radiator cap and fill the radiator with coolant.

1. Park on a hard, level surface, whenever possible, then stop the engine.

2. Apply the parking brake and shift the shift lever in reverse (MT) or “P” (AT/CVT).

3. Turn on the hazard warning flasher and have everyone get out of the vehicle.

4. Put wheel blocks at the front and rear of the tire diagonally opposite the flat tire.

5. Take out the jack, jack handle, and wheel nut wrench.

6. Loosen the wheel nuts using the wheel nut wrench but do not remove them.

7. Place the jack under the side sill at the front or rear jack-up point closest to the flat tire.

8. Turn the jackscrew by hand until the jack head engages firmly into the jack-up point.

9. Insert the jack handle into the jackscrew, and turn the handle until the tire clears the ground.

10. Remove the wheel nuts and the flat tire.

11. Put on the spare tire. Replace the wheel nuts. Tighten them by hand.

12. Turn the jack handle counterclockwise to lower the vehicle.

13. Use the wheel nut wrench to securely tighten the wheel nuts.

Playing a DVD movie: Activate the entertainment system by pressing the switch on the front panel and inserting a DVD.

Using the wireless headphones: Activate the wireless headsets with the power switch. Select CH A if sitting behind the right seat or CH B if sitting behind the left seat. Adjust the volume.

Playing audio/video via game port inputs: Connect the device using the mini-jack/TRCA wiring. Insert the mini-jack cable into the port underneath the front panel. Activate the entertainment system. Press the S button for signal source until “AUX-AUDIO/VIDEO INPUT” appears.

To set cruise control:

1. Press the “CRUISE” main switch button. The cruise control indicator light will illuminate.

2. Depress the accelerator pedal until the vehicle reaches the desired speed.

3. Press the “RES/SET” switch to the “SET” side and release it. Then release the accelerator pedal.

To temporarily cancel: Press the “CANCEL” button, depress the brake pedal, or depress the clutch pedal (MT models).

To turn off: Press the “CRUISE” main switch button again.

1. Remove the screw on the key head.

2. Open the key head using a flat-head screwdriver.

3. Remove the transmitter case from the key head.

4. Open the transmitter case by releasing the hooks.

5. Replace the old battery with a new battery (Type CR1620 or equivalent) making sure to install the new battery with the negative (−) side facing up.

6. Put together the transmitter case by fitting the hooks on the case.

7. Reinstall the transmitter case in the key head and reinstall the screw.

8. After replacement, synchronize the transmitter by pressing either the lock or unlock button six times.

In the event you cannot release the electronic parking brake by pulling the switch or depressing the accelerator pedal:

1. Shift the shift lever in “1” or “R” (MT models) or “P” (AT/CVT models).

2. Turn the ignition switch to the “LOCK” position.

3. Use tire stops under the tires.

4. Take out the electronic parking brake release tool from the tool bucket.

5. Remove the cap of the parking brake release device in the trunk/cargo area.

6. Insert the tool into the device.

7. Turn the tool clockwise approximately 200 to 250 rotations.
