• If you will not be using the TV for several days, disconnect the power by pulling the plug itself, not the cord.

• Be careful not to drop the TV on your foot or fingers when moving it.

• Carry the projection TV with four or more people. Do not carry it by holding the speaker grill. Hold it tightly.

Installation Guidelines:

• To prevent internal heat buildup, do not block the ventilation openings.

• Do not install the TV in a hot or humid place, or in a place with excessive dust or mechanical vibration.

• Avoid operating the TV at temperatures below 5°C (41°F).

Activating CableCARD Service:

1. Turn off the TV.

2. Insert the CableCARD (supplied by your cable TV company) into the TV’s CableCARD slot. Ensure the top of the card is on the same side as the indicator on the slot.

3. Gently push the card into the slot until it locks into place.

4. Turn on the TV. After 1-2 minutes, the CableCARD setup screen will appear.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions: Phone your cable company. A representative will guide you through activation, using the information displayed on the screen.

6. After activation, your cable TV company will download the service information and channel list to the CableCARD.

Removing the CableCARD:

1. Turn off the TV.

2. Push the eject button on the TV’s CableCARD slot to release the card.

3. Pull the CableCARD straight out of the slot.

After connecting your TV, you need to run the Initial Setup to create a list of available channels. This appears when you turn on the TV for the first time.

To run Initial Setup:

1. Press POWER to turn on the TV. The Initial Setup screen appears.

2. Use the remote control to highlight your desired language, then press the center button to select it.

3. The next screen instructs you to connect your cable/antenna. Check your connection, highlight Yes, and then press the center button.

The TV will then run Auto Program to automatically create a list of receivable analog and digital channels. This process may take 50 minutes or more. A progress bar will be displayed. When complete, the lowest numbered channel will be displayed.

3. Press POWER on the TV.

Convergence adjustment aligns the images from the three projection tubes (red, green, blue) to prevent a blurry or discolored picture. Allow the TV to warm up for about 30 minutes before adjusting.

Automatic Adjustment (Flash Focus):

1. Tune to a TV or cable TV program.

2. Press the FLASH FOCUS button on the front panel of the TV. A cross pattern appears, and the Flash Focus process begins automatically.

3. The adjustment is complete when the TV picture returns.

Manual Adjustment:

1. Press MENU, navigate to the Setup icon, and select Convergence.

2. A pattern of white crosses appears. Aligned crosses look white with little to no red or blue showing. Misaligned crosses will have red or blue edges.

3. Use the arrow buttons to move the yellow box to a cross you want to adjust, then press the center button. The box turns red.

4. If the cross has red edges, use the arrow buttons to move the red image until it aligns and the cross appears white. Press the center button. The box turns blue.

5. If the cross has blue edges, use the arrow buttons to move the blue image until it aligns and the cross appears white. Press the center button. The box turns yellow again.

6. Repeat for other crosses. When finished, press MENU to exit.

To control non-Sony equipment with your SONY KDP-51WS655 remote, you need to program it with the manufacturer’s code for that device.

1. Turn to the “Manufacturer’s Codes” list in the manual and find the three-digit code for your equipment.

2. While holding down the appropriate function button (DVD/VCR FUNCTION or SAT/CABLE FUNCTION), press RESET. Then release both buttons. The function button will flash.

Twin View lets you see two pictures from two different sources on the screen at the same time.

1. Tune the TV to a working channel.

5. To add more channels, repeat step 4. To clear a channel, highlight it and press RESET.

6. Press MENU to exit.

Using the Favorite Channels Guide:

1. Press FAVORITES. The Favorite Channels list appears.

2. Use the up or down arrow buttons to highlight the channel you want to watch. A preview of the highlighted channel appears.

3. Press the center button to select the channel.

• To add the current channel to the list, highlight “Add to Favorites” and press the center button.

• To edit the list, highlight “Edit Favorites” and press the center button.

The Memory Stick Viewer allows you to view digital photos (JPEG) and movies (MPEG1) stored on a Memory Stick.

Inserting and Removing a Memory Stick:

• Insert: Locate the Memory Stick slot on the front panel. Insert the stick until it clicks into place. The Memory Stick Index should appear on the screen.

• Remove: Check that the Memory Stick indicator light is off. Gently push the Memory Stick into the slot, then release it. The stick will be ejected. Pull it completely out.

Navigating and Viewing:

• On the Memory Stick Index screen, use the arrow buttons to move the highlight to a photo or movie thumbnail.

• Press the center button to display the highlighted photo or movie in full screen.

• In full screen photo view, you can access a Photo Menu bar with options to start a Slide Show, Rotate, Zoom/Pan, Protect, or Delete the file.

• In full screen movie view, you can access a Movie Menu bar with options to Play/Pause, Enlarge, or Protect/Delete the file.

• If the TV makes a “popping” sound when turned on, this is normal as it is the TV degaussing.

• If you cannot record digital channels to a VCR, this is normal. Only analog channels can be recorded to a VCR.
