• Educate children about the dangers of climbing on furniture to reach the television set or its controls.

• Always place the television on a flat level surface, avoiding anywhere which may be subject to strong vibration.

• The ideal distance to watch the television is approximately five times the length of the diagonal measurement of the TV screen.

To ensure proper and safe operation of your SHARP LC-43CFF5221K, please follow these guidelines:

• To prevent the spread of fire, keep candles or other open flames away from this product at all times.

• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or damage, do not expose the TV to dust, rain, or moisture. Never expose the TV to dripping or splashing and do not place objects filled with liquids on or near the TV.

• Do not connect any external devices (like a DVD player or games console) when the TV is switched on. Disconnect both the TV and the device from the mains before connecting. Only switch appliances on when the connection process is complete.

• Do not place the television in a confined space. Do not obstruct the ventilation openings at the rear of the television.

• When installing on a wall, ensure the TV is at least 5cm from the wall for ventilation.

• Always ensure that the TV’s ventilation openings are not covered with items such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains, etc.

• Ensure this TV is used in moderate climates only.

For your safety, please adhere to the following power and interference precautions for your SHARP LC-43CFF5221K:

• This appliance is fitted with a fused 3-pin mains plug. Should the fuse need to be replaced, ensure that any replacement is of the same amperage and approved with the BSI mark.

• Never try to replace the mains plug unless you have adequate qualifications and are legally authorised to do so.

• Never use the television if it is damaged in any way.

• Ensure the television is not placed on top of the power cable, as the weight of the television may damage the cable and cause a safety hazard.

• To disconnect the apparatus from the mains, use the mains plug located on the underside/rear of the TV. Ensure that the mains plug is always easily accessible.

• Never place mobile phones, speakers, or any other device which may cause magnetic or radio interference near the television. If interference is apparent, move the device causing the interference away from the television.

• WARNING: Excessive noise when using earphones and headphones can cause loss of hearing.

To clean your SHARP LC-43CFF5221K TV, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth dipped in a soap and water solution or a weak detergent solution.

• Never use alcohol, paint thinner, or benzene to clean this unit.

• Before using a chemically treated cloth, read the instructions that came with the cloth carefully.

• CAUTION: If water or other liquid enters the television through the display panel surface, a malfunction may occur.

It is also recommended to save the original box and packaging. The safest way to transport your item is in the original box/packaging. You will need it in the event of warranty/service repair or support.

The extended use of fixed image program material can cause a permanent “shadow image” on the LCD/LED panel, also known as “screen burn”. This can appear in the background during normal viewing. This type of irreversible panel deterioration can be limited by observing the following steps:

1. Reduce the brightness/contrast setting to a minimum suitable viewing level.

2. Do not display the fixed image for extended periods of time.

3. Turn the power off when not in use.

Examples of images that are more likely to cause “screen burn” include (this is not an exhaustive list):

• TV channel logos: e.g., shopping channel logos and pricing displays, especially if they are bright and stationary.

• Time displays.

• Teletext: Do not view a stationary page for a long period of time.

• TV/DVD menus: e.g., listings of DVD disc content.

• Pause mode: Do not leave the TV in pause mode for long periods of time, e.g., when watching DVDs or videos.

Important: Once ‘shadow image/screen burn’ occurs, it will never disappear and is not repairable under warranty.

Product Disposal:

Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Please dispose of the product at a designated collection point for recycling of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). In the UK, you can find your nearest facility at http://www.recycle-more.co.uk. In the ROI, check with your local authority or retailer for recycling advice as separate disposal facilities exist.

Battery Disposal:

• Do not expose batteries to high temperatures, excessive heat, prolonged sunshine, or fire as this may cause leakage, explosion, or ignition.

• Observe the correct polarity when inserting batteries.

• Do not use different types of batteries together or mix old and new batteries.

• Dispose of batteries in an environmentally friendly way.

• Certain regions may regulate the disposal of batteries. Please consult your local authority.

Included with your SHARP LC-43CFF5221K TV are the following accessories:

• 1 x Mini composite / AV cable

• 1 x Stand installation pack, which includes: 4 x screws, 1 x L (left) stand foot, 1 x R (right) stand foot

You will need a cross head screwdriver to complete the stand installation.

Attaching the stand:

1. Place the TV set on a flat and clean surface with the panel facing downwards to avoid damage.

2. Fix the stand feet to the underside of the TV. The feet are marked L (left) and R (right).

3. When the stand feet are installed correctly, they will be angled away from each other at the front of the TV set.

4. Secure the stand feet to the underside of the TV set using the 4 screws provided.

Detaching the stand:

To detach the stand, remove the 4 screws from the underside of the TV set and then remove the stand feet.

Securing with anti-tip straps (when using the stand):

For maximum security, anti-tip straps should be fitted. Straps are designed to be attached to the rear of the TV and then tethered to the wall or the furniture the TV is stood on.

A) Using one or both of the top wall-mounting holes and screws (the screws are already supplied in the wall mounting holes), fasten one end of the fastening cord/s to the TV.

B) Secure the other end of the fastening cord/s to your wall. You will need screws/fixings suitable for your wall type, which are available separately from most DIY stores.

Note: Please ensure that children do not climb on the TV set.

Wall Mounting (using a wall mount bracket):

IMPORTANT – Before drilling any holes in the wall, ensure you are not drilling where there could be any electrical wires, water, or gas pipes.

1. Remove the four screws that are supplied in the wall mounting holes on the rear of the TV.

2. The wall mount can now be easily attached to the mounting holes on the rear of the TV.

Important: If wall mounting this TV, only use the screws already provided in the wall mounting holes. Using other screws which are longer could cause irreparable damage to internal parts.

For optimum viewing, if wall mounting the TV higher than eye level, the TV should be tilted downwards so that the TV’s screen is ‘face on’.

Primary Functions:

• STANDBY: Switch on TV when in standby or vice versa.

• MUTE: Mute the sound or vice versa.

• NUMBER BUTTONS (0–9): To select a TV channel directly.

• TV GUIDE: Opens the 7 day TV guide (digital TV mode).

• ↩: To return to the previous channel viewed.

• VOL (+/-): To increase/decrease the sound level.

• PICTURE: Scrolls through picture mode options.

• SOUND: Scrolls through sound mode options.

• SOURCE: To display the input/source menu.

• CH (+/-): To increase or decrease the channel being watched.

• MENU: To display OSD menu.

• EXIT: To exit all menus.

• (▲/▼/◄/►/OK): Allows you to navigate the on-screen menus and adjust settings.

• INFO: Press once for now/next channel information. Press twice for information about the current programme.

• FAV: To display favourites menu.

Secondary & Media Functions:

• SLEEP: Press repeatedly to cycle through the sleep options.

• TEXT: To enter/exit Teletext (Analogue TV).

• SUBTITLE: To switch the dialogue at the bottom of the screen (on/off).

• ASPECT: To switch the screen between the different picture formats.

• TV: Switch to digital source.

• MEDIA: Access the USB media function.

• RADIO: Switch to radio whilst in digital TV source.

• RECORD: Access the USB record function.

• I◄◄: To restart the current chapter.

• ►►I: To advance forward to the next chapter.

• ■: To stop the playback/Eject Disc.

• ◄◄: To play in fast rewind mode.

• ►►: To play in fast forward mode.

• ►II: To play/pause.

• REC LIST: Opens the list of what has been previously recorded.

• GOTO: To go to a specific chapter.

• REPEAT: To repeat playback.

The buttons on the television itself provide basic control:

1. Volume up and menu right

2. Volume down and menu left

3. Programme/channel up and menu up

4. Programme/channel down and menu down

5. Displays menu/OSD

6. Displays the ‘Input Source’ menu

7. Standby power On/Off

Note: The shape of the TV buttons may vary by model.

You can use the source menu to switch between different input connections.

A) Using the buttons on the remote control:

1. Press [SOURCE]. The source menu will appear.

2. Press [▲] or [▼] to select the input you require.

3. Press [OK].

B) Using the buttons on the Television:

1. Press the [SOURCE] button on the TV.

2. Scroll up/down using the CH+/CH- buttons to select the input/source you require.

3. Press Vol+ to change the input/source to the one selected.

• Device with Composite AV/Video output: Use the included Mini composite / AV cable to connect the yellow (video), red (right audio), and white (left audio) plugs from your device to the TV’s Mini AV in port. Set the TV source to Composite/AV.

• Device with SCART output: Use a SCART cable to connect your device to the TV’s SCART port. Set the TV source to SCART.

• Device with HDMI output: Use an HDMI cable to connect your device to one of the TV’s HDMI ports (HDMI 1, 2, or 3). An HDMI cable outputs both video and audio. Set the TV source to the corresponding HDMI port.

• Device with Component/YPbPr output: Use the included Mini component / YPbPr cable to connect the green (Y), blue (Pb), and red (Pr) plugs for video. For sound, you must also connect the red and white audio phono cables to the Mini AV in port. Set the TV source to Component/YPbPr.

• External audio device (Amplifier, Sound Bar, etc.): You have two options:

1. Connect a 3.5mm to phono cable from the TV’s 3.5mm earphone output to your audio device. This will disable the TV speakers.

2. Connect a digital optical audio cable from the TV’s Digital audio out (optical) port to your audio device’s optical input.

• Ethernet/Network Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the TV’s LAN/Ethernet port. This port is used for Freeview HD services.

To access the Picture Menu, press the [MENU] button on the remote control. You can choose from the following presets:

Picture Mode

Colour Temperature

Within the Picture Menu, you can select an Aspect Ratio to best suit the content you are watching. The picture format varies depending on the channel/broadcast.

• Auto: Automatically displays the best picture format so the picture is in the correct position. Black lines may be viewable at the top/bottom and/or sides.

• 4:3: Displays the 4:3 picture in its original size. Side bars are shown to fill the 16:9 screen.

• 16:9: Fills the screen with a regular 16:9 signal, and a 4:3 picture format will be stretched to fill the screen.

• Full Screen: Displays a picture in the Full Screen size without overscan. A 16:9 signal will be displayed in its original proportion. Other picture formats will be stretched to fill the screen.

• Zoom1 and Zoom 2: The picture is the correct proportion but zoomed in to fill the screen.

Press [MENU] on the remote and navigate to the SOUND MENU. You can choose from several presets or customize your own.

Sound Mode Presets

In Personal mode, you can adjust:

• Treble: Adjust treble levels to suit your listening preferences.

• Bass: Adjust bass levels to suit your listening preferences.

• Balance: Switch the sound between the left and right speakers.

Other Sound Settings:

• Auto Volume Level (AVL): When ‘on’ is selected, the volume will attempt to stay at a constant level regardless of TV programme and advertisements.

• DTS TruSurround: Choose ‘On’ to create an immersive, feature-rich surround sound experience from the two built-in speakers.

• Digital Output: For the optical audio output. Choose ‘Off’ to turn off, ‘Auto’ for automatic settings, or ‘PCM’ if connecting to a Stereo Hi-fi via optical cable.

• Audio Description: Allows the user to switch Audio Description ON or OFF for visually impaired users. You can also adjust the AD Volume.

Press [MENU] on the remote and navigate to the CHANNEL MENU. From here you can manage your channels.

• Auto Tuning: Allows you to retune the television for all digital channels, digital radio stations, and analogue devices.

• Analogue Manual Tuning: Allows you to manually tune your analogue signal.

• Freeview/Saorview Manual Tuning: Allows you to manually tune your digital signal.

• Channel Edit: Allows you to delete, move, skip, and select favourite channels.

• Signal Information: Allows you to view signal frequency, signal quality, and signal strength.

• CI Information: For pay-per-view services that require a “smartcard” and ‘CAM’ inserted into the COMMON INTERFACE PORT.

• Recorded List: Shows a list of recorded TV programmes from a connected USB device.

• Schedule List: Lists your programme reminders.

• OAD (Software Update): Switch on/off OAD (over air download) software updates.

Important Note for Freeview/Saorview: To receive these channels, especially HD channels, you will need a Digital TV aerial and be in a good coverage area. Any Freeview HD channels found during tuning will be placed in channel positions above 100 (e.g., 101 for BBC1 HD, 102 for BBC2 HD).

In the SETTINGS menu, select TIME to access the following options:

• Auto Sync: When set to ON, the TV will automatically set the time. Set to OFF to manually set the time.

• Time: Allows you to manually set the time (only available when Auto Sync is OFF).

• Off Time: Allows you to set a specific time for your TV to turn off.

• On Time: Allows you to set a specific time for your TV to turn on, including the channel, source, and volume. This can be repeated daily or on a certain day.

• Sleep Timer: Lets you set the sleep timer so the television automatically switches off after a set amount of time. (Off, 10min, 20min, 30min, 60min, 90min, 120min, 180min, 240min).

• OSD Timer: Lets you adjust the amount of time the On-Screen Menu stays on the screen before disappearing. (Off, 5secs, 15secs, 30secs, 60secs).

• Auto standby: Set ‘Auto Standby’ to OFF, 3 hours, 4 hours, or 5 hours.

• Time Zone: Change your current time zone.

In the SETTINGS menu, select LOCK to access parental controls and other lock features. The default password is 0000.

• System/Hotel Lock: Allows you to lock or unlock the menu.

• Change Password: Allows you to change the password.

• Channel Lock: Allows you to lock certain channels manually.

• Parental Guidance: Allows you to set the rating to block certain content based on age information.

• TV Button Lock: Allows you to lock the buttons on the side of the TV set.

• Default Source: Allows the user to set the default source the TV starts on when first switched on.

• Default Channel: Allows the user to set a default channel on the Digital source.

• Max Volume: Allows you to adjust and set the maximum volume.

• Source Lock: Allows you to lock the source menu.

These options are found in the SETTINGS menu.

Network menu:

The Network connection is intended to access Pay TV services from your broadcaster and cannot be used for general internet access. For the network configuration to work, the TV must be connected to your home network via an Ethernet cable.

• IP Config: Choose ‘Auto’ to automatically connect (recommended), or ‘Manual’ to manually change IP, Netmask, Gateway, and DNS information.

• Network Info: View information about network settings.

• Network Test: Test the network connection.

PVR File System: (For USB Recording)

Other Settings:

• HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronic Control): Allows compatible HDMI devices to control each other, enabling operation of multiple devices with one remote control.

• Software Update (USB): Allows you to update your TV with the newest software using a USB memory stick.

• Software Update (NET): Allows you to update your TV via your internet connection. This requires the TV to be connected to the internet and a blank USB memory stick inserted into the USB input.

• Version Info: Allows you to view the version/information of the software installed on the TV set.

7 Day TV Guide:

The TV Guide is available in Saorview/Freeview TV mode and provides information about forthcoming programmes.

1. Press [TV GUIDE] on the remote control to display the guide.

2. Navigate through the menu using the ▲/▼/◄/► buttons.

You can now:

• Record a programme by pressing RED (USB device must be connected).

• Set a reminder by pressing GREEN.

• View a previous day by pressing YELLOW.

• View the next day by pressing BLUE.

3. Press [EXIT] to exit the 7 day TV Guide.

Channel List:

To view the channel list, ensure the TV is set to either the analogue or digital source and no menus are displayed.

1. Press [OK] on the remote control and the channel list menu will appear.

2. Press LEFT / RIGHT arrow to filter desired channel types (Digital TV, Radio, All).

3. Scroll through the channel list by using ▲/▼ buttons, then press [OK] to view the channel that is currently highlighted.

4. Press [EXIT] to exit the channel list.

This function is available in Freeview/Saorview mode when used with a compatible USB memory stick or USB hard drive. It is necessary to use a high-speed USB memory stick. The minimum specifications are:

Pause Live TV (time shift):

1. Press the play/pause (►II) button. The television will pause and the live content will be recorded.

2. To resume watching, press play/pause again.

3. Use the fast forward (►►) and fast rewind (◄◄) buttons to navigate within the recorded content.

Tip: When you switch the TV to standby or change the channel, the time shift memory is wiped.

One button record:

To record the current channel you are watching, press the red [RECORD] button on the remote control.

Tip: This television contains one TV tuner, therefore it can only record the channel you are watching, or record one channel while the television is in standby mode.

Note: The USB record function is only available in Freeview/Saorview TV mode. Due to copyright laws, it is not possible to record to/from any other input/output source.

The USB mode offers playback of various content types saved on your USB Memory Stick.

1. Switch the TV source to USB. A menu screen will appear, dividing content into Photo, Music, Movie, and Text based on file type.

2. Navigate through the menus using the scroll (▲/▼/◄/►) buttons on the remote control. To confirm an item you wish to play/view, press the [OK] button.

3. Select the drive you require. If your drive has only one partition, you will only see one item.

4. You can now access the item. Press OK to view.

5. While viewing your media, you can control the item by using the remote control playback buttons or by pressing [INFO] to access the on-screen playback menu. You can then make your selection using the ▲/▼/◄/► and [OK] buttons.

Tip: If you experience a playback issue (e.g., the picture plays but there is no sound), please ensure the files are in a compatible format.

Note: USB extension cables are not recommended as they can cause a reduction in picture/audio quality and stoppages during playback.

If you are not receiving any or all channels, or they are breaking up:

1. Check you are in an area that can receive Freeview/Saorview.

2. Check you are using an aerial that is able to receive a good digital signal. In most cases, you will need an outdoor digital hi-gain/wideband aerial. In areas with excellent digital coverage, a loft type aerial might work, but it is highly likely you will need a booster between the TV and the aerial wall socket. A portable/indoor type aerial is often not sufficient.

If the TV does not save the channels when you power it off:

It’s likely the channel database has become corrupt. Follow these steps to reset it:

1. Turn off the TV.

2. Remove the RF/Aerial cable from the rear of the TV and then turn the TV back on again.

3. Using the remote control, press Menu followed by 8-8-8-8 to enter the initial setup/first time installation menu.

4. Press OK and let the TV run the full tuning process (without the aerial connected).

5. Once completed, turn off the TV, reconnect the RF/Aerial cable, then turn the TV back on again.

6. Repeat steps 3 & 4 with the aerial connected.

• VCR/DVD Recorder not recording via SCART: In addition to connecting via SCART, you must connect the aerial cable from the wall socket to your VCR/DVD Recorder and another aerial cable from the VCR/DVD Recorder to the TV.

• Playstation/Xbox no picture/sound via HDMI:

1. Ensure the TV’s source is set to the correct HDMI input.

2. Check your settings on your Playstation/Xbox are as per the console’s instruction manual.

• Playstation/Xbox no sound via Component cables: Component cables (red, green & blue) only provide HD pictures. For sound, you must also connect the red & white audio cables from the Playstation/Xbox to the red & white phono inputs (or mini AV input) on the rear of the TV.

• USB Memory Key not recognised: Ensure the USB Memory Key is formatted to FAT32.

• Using a USB hard drive larger than 32GB: The drive must be formatted to the FAT32 file system to operate on this TV. Windows XP/Vista computers are only capable of formatting up to 32GB, so you may need a separate software utility to format larger hard drives.

• Picture breaks up during USB recording: Check that the USB memory stick meets the minimum read/write speed requirements. Standard definition channels require a read speed of 20 MB/s and a write speed of 6 MB/s. HD channels require a read speed of 80 MB/s and a write speed of 40 MB/s. USB 3.0 sticks should be used where possible.

• Remote control does not work during first time installation: Press and hold the GREEN and YELLOW buttons on the remote control for a few seconds. The power light will blink 5 times to confirm the TV and remote control are paired.

• Remote control does not power on the TV:

1. Switch the TV on using the standby button on the TV set itself.

2. Once switched on, press the standby button on the TV set once. This will prompt the ‘pairing menu’ to appear.

3. Scroll through and highlight ‘Pair your remote’ by pressing the CH+/CH- button on the TV.

4. Press the TV set’s standby button (OK function in the menu) to confirm your selection.

5. With the remote control, press and hold the GREEN and YELLOW buttons for a few seconds. The power light will blink 5 times to confirm the TV and remote control are paired.
