This is a California-approved firearm safety device that meets the requirements of Penal Code section 23655 and the regulations issued thereunder.


How do I prepare my SENTRYSAFE QAP2E for first-time use?

To prepare your SENTRYSAFE QAP2E for its first use, follow this step:

1. Insert the override key into the keyhole and turn it clockwise to open the safe.

NOTE: Do not lock the key inside the safe. This is an override key and will open the safe in the event that you have lost your code.


How do I install or replace the batteries in my SENTRYSAFE QAP2E?

Follow these steps to install the batteries in your SENTRYSAFE QAP2E:

1. Remove the battery pack cover.

2. Pull out the battery pack, keeping it connected to the wires.

3. Insert four NEW AA alkaline batteries.

NOTE: Do not use rechargeable batteries or any other type of non-alkaline battery. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline and standard batteries.


How do I program a new electronic code on my SENTRYSAFE QAP2E?

All SENTRYSAFE QAP2E models initially work with the factory code 1, 2, 3, 4, 1. It is important to reprogram your safe with a new user code you have personally selected to provide maximum security.

To access the safe with the factory code, press any button to bring the safe out of standby mode, then enter 1, 2, 3, 4, 1. The Green LED will light.

To Program a New Electronic Code:

1. Find the Reset button located behind the battery pack.

2. Press and hold the Reset button until the keypad flashes 3 times. The LEDs will remain on to indicate it is ready to accept a new user code.

3. Enter a new user code that is four, five, or six digits long.

A successful programming of the user code is indicated when the LED light flashes green three times.

NOTE:

– The user code will not be erased when the battery power is removed.

– If you program a four or five-digit user code, you will need to wait 10 seconds until your code is accepted. This is only valid during the setup of your safe. If you program a six-digit user code, the light will immediately turn green.

– If the red LED flashes 3 times, programming has failed.

– When you are finished programming your safe, replace the battery pack cover.


How do I change the electronic code on my SENTRYSAFE QAP2E?

To change an existing electronic code on your SENTRYSAFE QAP2E, follow these steps:

1. Press and hold the Reset button until the keypad flashes 3 times.

2. Enter a new user code that is four, five, or six digits long. The safe will then automatically erase the previous user code.

NOTE: Write down your new user code and keep it in a secure location.


How do I program fingerprints on my biometric SENTRYSAFE QAP2E?

You can program up to four fingerprints on biometric models of the SENTRYSAFE QAP2E.

To Program Primary User Fingerprints (up to two):

1. Press and hold the Reset button until the keypad flashes 3 times. The LEDs will remain on to indicate that the safe is ready to accept two new fingerprints.

2. Swipe the first finger across the fingerprint scanner multiple times. The LED light will flash green once for each valid scan.

3. When enough valid scans have been recorded (usually 5-10 scans), there will be a brief pause and the LED light will flash green 3 times to indicate successful programming.

4. Immediately add a second fingerprint following the registration of the previous one. Repeat steps 2 and 3.

To Program Secondary User Fingerprints:

1. Press and hold the Reset button until the keypad flashes 3 times. Once the LEDs remain on, press and hold the Reset button again until the LEDs flash. The LEDs will remain on to indicate that the safe is ready to accept two new fingerprints.

2. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 as indicated under “To Program Primary User Fingerprints”.


How do I erase all programmed fingerprints from my SENTRYSAFE QAP2E?

To erase all programmed fingerprints from your biometric SENTRYSAFE QAP2E, follow these instructions:

1. Press and hold the Reset button until the keypad flashes 3 times. The LEDs will remain on to indicate the safe is ready to erase fingerprints.

2. Swipe a programmed fingerprint once across the scanner and wait 10 seconds. The red LED will flash 3 times to indicate all programmed fingerprints have been erased.


How do I program the interior LED light interval on my SENTRYSAFE QAP2E?

The interior LED light interval on your SENTRYSAFE QAP2E is programmable for three different time intervals: 0, 10, or 20 seconds. The factory preset interval is 10 seconds.

Programming Method:

1. Open the safe using your programmed user code, fingerprint, or override key. Wait for the interior lights to turn off based on the current setting (e.g., 10 seconds for the factory preset).

2. Hold down any button on the keypad for 3 seconds. The green LED light will turn on, indicating the safe is ready to accept a new time interval.

3. Press and hold the designated keypad buttons as shown in the table below to set your desired time interval. The green LED light will flash two times and the interior LEDs will illuminate, indicating successful programming. If the light interval is incorrectly programmed, a red LED light will flash one time.

NOTES:

– The chosen interval setting is stored in non-volatile memory and remains until changed again.

– Your registered user code and fingerprints are unaffected by changing the interior LED light interval.


How do I lock and unlock my SENTRYSAFE QAP2E?

Locking your safe:

Close the lid. Once the lid is closed, the safe is securely locked.

NOTE: The override key needs to be in the locked position. Remove and store it in a secure location. When not in use, the safe will go into a lower power standby mode. Pressing a button will end the standby mode.

Unlocking your safe:

You can unlock your SENTRYSAFE QAP2E in one of three ways:

Using the code:

1. Press any button once to bring the safe out of standby mode.

2. Enter your programmed user code.

Using the override key:

1. Insert the override key into the keyhole and turn clockwise.

Using your fingerprint (For Select Biometric Lock Models Only):

1. Press any button once or touch the fingerprint scanner to bring the safe out of standby mode.

2. Swipe a programmed finger.


How do I bolt down my SENTRYSAFE QAP2E to a surface?

To bolt down your SENTRYSAFE QAP2E, you will need the following tools and the provided kit contents.

Bolt-Down Kit Contents: 2 Screws, 2 Washers

Tools needed: Drill, Wrench, 9/32in (7.2 mm) drill bit for drilling into wood, 3/8in (9.5 mm) drill bit for drilling into masonry.

Instructions:

1. Select a suitable location for your safe. Set the safe in place and use the pre-drilled holes on the bottom of the safe to mark the location of the holes to be drilled in the surface.

2. Move the safe and drill the marked holes in the surface using the appropriate diameter and depth for the type of hardware and mounting surface.

3. Replace the safe over the newly created holes.

4. Install the screws and washers as required.

NOTICE: Do NOT drill from any location inside the safe. This product is intended to be mounted with a horizontal orientation.


How can I troubleshoot issues with my SENTRYSAFE QAP2E?
