Automatic Adjustment:

Simply set the FAN SPEED selector to the “AUTO” position. A microcomputer in the air conditioner automatically controls the fan speed when the AUTO mode is selected. When the air conditioner starts operating, the difference between the room temperature and the set temperature is detected by the microcomputer which then automatically switches the fan speed to the most suitable level.

When difference between room temperature and set temperature is FAN SPEED
4°F High
Between 4°F and 2°F Medium
Below 2°F Low

Manual Adjustment:

If you want to adjust the fan speed manually during cooling, just set the FAN SPEED control as desired (HIGH, MED, or LOW).

How should I select an installation site for the indoor unit of the SANYO 30K12W?

AVOID:

• Areas where leakage of flammable gas may be expected.

• Places where large amounts of oil mist exist.

• Direct sunlight.

• Nearby heat sources that may affect performance of the unit.

• Locations where remote control will be splashed with water or affected by dampness or humidity.

• Installing remote control unit behind curtains or furniture that obstruct air circulation.

DO:

• Select an appropriate position from which every corner of the room can be uniformly cooled. (High on the wall is best.)

• Select a location that will hold the weight of the unit.

• Select a location where piping and drain pipe have shortest run to the outside.

• Allow room for operation and maintenance as well as unrestricted air flow around the unit.

• Install unit within the maximum height up or down of outdoor unit and within a total piping length stipulated (Max allowable piping length: 50 ft. / Limit of piping length: 100 ft.).

• Allow room for mounting control unit about 1 m (4 ft.) off the floor, in an area that is not in direct sunlight or in the flow of cool air from the unit.

What are the piping connection torque specifications for the SANYO 30K12W?

When connecting pipes between the indoor and outdoor units:

• Flare nut on large dia. pipe (5/8″ pipe) should be torqued to 520 ~ 560 lbs. in.

• Flare nut on large dia. pipe (3/4″ pipe) should be torqued to 600 ~ 680 lbs. in.

• Flare nut on the narrow pipe (3/8″ pipe) should be torqued to 300 – 340 lbs-in.

After performing a leak test on the connecting part, insulate it with an insulation and finish with a vinyl masking tape over it.

How do I perform air purging on the SANYO 30K12W?

Air Purging Procedure (Conventional evacuation system):

1. Check gas leakage of all joints with liquid soap.

2. If no gas leakage is confirmed, connect both vacuum pump and vacuum gauge to service valve through 1/4″ port with a flare nut.

3. Run the vacuum pump until the pressure reaches to 1.5 mm Hg abs. or less value than that.

4. Close the low pressure side knob on the gauge manifold valve and stop evacuation.

5. Remove the cap from the wide pipe service valve and turn the spindle gradually until it is back seated.

6. Disconnect vacuum pump and gauge manifold valve from the service valve. Then replace bonnet and flare nut to 1/4″ port of service valve.

7. The spindle of narrow pipe service valve shall be fully back seated. Then, tighten the valve seal cap with the copper gasket.

8. The all air purge procedure has been completed and the unit is ready for trial operation.

How do I clean the air filter on the SANYO 30K12W?

The air filter behind the air intake grille should be checked and cleaned at least once every two weeks.

Step 1: Place the flap on the air outlet grille in the bottom-most position.

Step 2: Grasp the air filter by the tab at the bottom, and pull downward.

Step 3: Use a vacuum cleaner to remove light dust. If there is sticky dust on the filter, wash the filter in lukewarm, soapy water, rinse it in clean water, and dry it.

How should I clean the casing and grille of the SANYO 30K12W indoor unit?

Clean the casing and grille of the indoor unit with a vacuum cleaner brush, or wipe them with a clean soft cloth. If these parts are stained, use a clean cloth moistened with a mild liquid detergent. When cleaning the grille, be careful so as not to force the vanes out of place.

CAUTION:

1. Do not pour water on the unit to clean it. This will damage the internal components and cause an electric shock hazard.

2. Never use solvents, or harsh chemicals. Do not wipe the plastic casing using very hot water.

What should I check if the SANYO 30K12W air conditioner does not operate and the circuit breaker trips?

If the circuit breaker trips or the fuse blows:

1. Check the interunit power line (between indoor and outdoor units). Is the wiring correct? If No, execute rewiring. If Yes, check for a possibility of a ground fault.

2. Check insulation resistance of power supply cords.

3. Check insulation resistance of the outdoor unit. Is the insulation resistance low?

4. If the resistance value is 1 MΩ or less, remove the interunit power cables and check insulation resistance between terminal (2) and ground and between terminal (1) and ground in the electrical component box of the outdoor unit.

5. If insulation is defective in the outdoor unit, check insulation of the compressor motor, outdoor fan motor, and crankcase heater.

6. If insulation is defective in the indoor unit, check insulation of the indoor fan motor and transformer.

What steps should be taken if neither the indoor nor outdoor unit of the SANYO 30K12W runs?

1. Check the power supply. Is power being supplied to the wall receptacle? If No, wait for recovery or contact the power company.

2. If Yes, check the operation lamp. Is the lamp lit? If No, check the fuse on the P.C.B. Ass’y for continuity.

3. If the fuse is blown, replace it. If the fuse blows again, check the power transformer and indoor fan motor. If these are defective, replace them.

4. If the P.C.B. Ass’y is defective, replace it.

How do I disassemble the casing on the SANYO 30K12W indoor unit?

5. The evaporator and drain pan can be pulled out after removing the screws shown in the diagram.

What is the pump down procedure for the SANYO 30K12W?

Pump down means collecting all refrigerant in the system back into the outdoor unit without losing refrigerant gas. Pump down is used when the unit is moved or for servicing the refrigerant circuit.

1. Close valve on wide pipe halfway (2 turns).

2. Close valve on narrow pipe all the way (4 turns).

3. Turn unit on (cooling) for approximately 3 minutes then shut off.

4. Close valve on wide pipe all the way (2 additional turns).

5. Disconnect pipes slowly allowing pressure to equalize inside and out.

6. When piping is disconnected provide dust covers for both valves and pipes until unit is reconnected.
