The SAMSUNG SCO-2080R includes several high-performance features for surveillance:

To ensure safety and proper operation of the SAMSUNG SCO-2080R, observe the following precautions:

Do not install under extreme temperature conditions. Use only between -10 degrees Celsius and +50 degrees Celsius. Provide good ventilation in high temperature conditions.

Do not install in high humidity environments as it may lower image quality.

Do not install under unstable lighting conditions as severe flickering or lighting changes can hinder operation.

Avoid touching the camera lens as it is a critical component and fingerprints can smear the image.

Do not drop the camera or subject it to physical shock.

Never keep the camera face directly toward strong light as it may damage the CCD.

Ensure the power source complies with specified standards before connecting.

If the IR LED is lit, do not look directly into the light.

Install the product in a location secured from flooding, such as under eaves.

If installing inside an outdoor housing, either remove the front glass of the housing before installing the camera, or remove the camera’s front cover and place the lens close to the housing’s front glass.

Follow these steps to adjust the lens settings on the SAMSUNG SCO-2080R:

Step 1. Remove the sunshield from the camera.

Step 2. Remove the front cover by turning it counterclockwise.

Step 3. Unlock the Zoom or Focus lever before adjusting the lens.

Step 4. Adjust the zoom and focus by moving the levers. Move counterclockwise for Near and Tele positions, and clockwise for Wide and Far positions.

Step 5. After adjustment, tighten the zoom or focus levers, taking care not to move the current position.

Step 6. Close and tighten the front cover. Ensure the triangle on the front cover and the triangle on the main body confront each other to maintain weatherproof integrity. If the cover is cross-threaded or not tightened correctly, the housing will not be weatherproof.

Step 7. Replace the sunshield.

The recommended adaptor specification for the SAMSUNG SCO-2080R is DC 12V / 4A or AC 24V / 2A. Standard voltage for operation is DC 12V plus or minus 10% or AC 24V plus or minus 10%.

The following table shows the resistance and voltage drop based on copper wire size at 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit):

Voltage decreases as the wire gets longer; excessively long distances between the power adaptor and the camera may affect performance.

To connect the SAMSUNG SCO-2080R to a DVR, System Controller, or PC for OSD control:

When connecting, peel off the outer skin inside the RS-485 control terminal. Use supported protocols such as Samsung-T, Samsung-E, Pelco-P, Pelco-D, Vicon, Panasonic, Bosch, or Honeywell.

When using a BNC coaxial cable for video output and control, use the following recommended cable specifications based on distance:

If the distance exceeds the recommended maximum, use an auxiliary video amp. If the camera is controlled through coaxial communication, the video amp must be intended for coaxial communications; regular video amps do not transfer coaxial signals.

Access the OSD menu and select “DAY/NIGHT” to choose between three modes:

COLOR: The picture is always displayed in color.

B/W: The picture is always displayed in black and white. In this sub-menu, you can toggle Burst Mode and IR Mode. IR Mode prevents screen saturation of objects at short distances.

AUTO: The camera switches to color in normal environments and to B/W when illumination is low. You can set the switching time (Dwell Time) and brightness levels (Duration).

The switching points for the SAMSUNG SCO-2080R are as follows:

Note: When AGC in the Exposure menu is set to Off, Auto mode cannot be selected and the camera operates in Color mode.

If you encounter problems with the SAMSUNG SCO-2080R, check the following:

Nothing appears on the screen: Check the power cord and line connections. Ensure the BNC cable is properly connected.

The image is dim: Clean the lens with a soft cloth. Check if the camera is exposed to excessively strong light and change the position if necessary.

The image is dark: Adjust the contrast on the monitor. If using an intermediate device, ensure it is set to 75 Ohms or Hi-Z properly.

Camera surface is hot: Verify the camera is connected to an appropriate power source.

SENS-UP function does not work: Ensure AGC is not set to Off and Shutter is not set to A.FLK or Manual.

Motion Detection does not work: Check that Motion Det is not set to Off in the Special menu.

Color is incorrect: Check the White Bal setup menu settings.

Screen flickers continually: Check if the camera is pointed directly toward the sun.

Coaxial communication is unavailable: Ensure the distance is within recommendations and use a compatible video amplifier if needed.

IR-LED is not lit: Verify the Day/Night function is set to Auto or B/W mode rather than Color mode.
