4. Lower the rear discharge chute cover onto the top of the grass catcher.

To use the mulching plug (for mulching clippings):

1. Lift and hold up the rear grass discharge chute cover.

2. Remove the grass catcher if it is attached.

3. Insert the mulching plug into the discharge opening, pushing it firmly until it locks into place.

4. Lower the rear discharge chute cover completely.

The RYOBI RLM18X33B40 is equipped with a grass catcher full indicator on top of the grass catcher. When the catcher is not full, the indicator will float up during operation. When the catcher is full, the indicator will be down. This signals that it’s time to empty the clippings.

To empty the grass catcher:

1. Stop the mower by releasing the on/off button.

2. Lift the rear discharge chute cover.

3. Grasp the grass catcher by its handle and lift it off the mower.

4. Empty the grass clippings into a suitable waste container.

5. Re-install the grass catcher before resuming mowing.

To get the best performance from your RYOBI RLM18X33B40, follow these tips:

• For best results, always cut off one-third or less of the total height of the grass.

• Do not cut wet grass. It will stick to the underside of the deck and prevent proper collection or discharge.

• When cutting long grass, reduce your walking speed to allow for a more effective cut and proper discharge of clippings.

• New or thick grass may require a higher cutting height setting.

• A higher cutting height extends the run time of the battery.

• The mower is designed to operate most effectively when moving forwards.

Always wear heavy-duty gloves when handling the blade. The blade is sharp and can cause serious injury.

1. Turn off the mower. Remove the isolator key and the battery pack.

2. Turn the mower on its side with the battery housing facing up.

3. Wedge a block of wood between the blade and the mower deck to prevent the blade from turning.

4. Use a wrench to loosen the blade bolt by turning it counter-clockwise.

5. Remove the blade bolt and the blade.

6. Inspect the blade for damage or wear. Replace with a new blade if necessary. The replacement blade part number is RAC434 (682072).

7. Place the new or sharpened blade onto the shaft, ensuring it is properly seated against the hub.

8. Replace the blade bolt and tighten it securely by turning it clockwise. The recommended blade bolt torque is 35-40 Nm.

9. Replace worn or damaged blades and bolts in sets to preserve balance.

If your mower becomes clogged, follow these steps to safely clear the blockage:

1. Turn off the product and remove the isolator key and the battery pack. Make sure all moving parts have come to a complete stop.

2. Always wear heavy-duty gloves. The blades are sharp, and the blockage itself could contain sharp objects.

3. Remove the grass catcher and check for and carefully clear any obstructions in the discharge opening.

4. Check the grass discharge chute and carefully clear any blockages.

5. Turn the product on its side. Check the underside of the deck and the area around the blade. If any blockages are found, remove them carefully. Remember that the blade may move slightly during cleaning.

Cleaning:

1. After each use, turn off the mower, remove the isolator key and battery pack, and wait for all moving parts to stop.

2. Clean the exterior of the product with a soft, dry cloth or brush.

3. Turn the mower on its side and scrape away any buildup of grass and debris from the underside of the deck. Be careful around the sharp blade.

4. Do not use water or a pressure washer to clean the mower, as this can damage the motor and electrical components.

Storage:

1. Before storing, allow the mower to cool down.

2. To fold the handle for compact storage, loosen the handle knobs on both sides of the lower handle and fold the upper handle down over the mower body.
