Please adhere to the following safety instructions when using your RESPEKTA CH 22010-90 WB cooker hood:

• There is a fire risk if cleaning is not carried out in accordance with the instructions.

• The air must not be discharged into a flue that is used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas or other fuels (not applicable to appliances that only discharge the air back into the room).

• When the range hood and appliances supplied with energy other than electricity are simultaneously in operation, the negative pressure in the room must not exceed 4 Pa (4 x 10-5 bar).

• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Keep your children from using the cooker hood.

• Your cooker hood is for domestic use only, not suitable for barbecue, roast shop and other commercial use.

• There shall be adequate ventilation of the room when the range hood is used at the same time as appliances burning gas or other fuels (not applicable to appliances that only discharge the air back into the room).

• The cooker hood and its filter mesh should be cleaned regularly in order to keep in good working order.

• Before cleaning, always ensure that you have switched your cooker hood off.

• Do not flame under the range hood.

• Do not exhaust the gas from the cooker hood through the same heated flue which is for the gas from a gas hob and other kitchen appliances.

• Before installation and usage, read all the instructions and make sure that the voltage (V) and the frequency (Hz) indicated on your cooker hood are exactly the same as in your home.

• Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliances.

For optimal performance, switch on the RESPEKTA CH 22010-90 WB a few minutes before you start cooking. It is recommended with both exhaust and circulation air modes to run the fan for a further 5 to 10 minutes after cooking. This will free the kitchen air of any remaining steam and odours.

1. For improved hood performance, pull out the steam collector (where fitted).

2. Set the fan speed according to the amount of smoke and odours to be extracted.

3. Operate the hood for another ca. 5 to 10 minutes after finishing cooking.

4. Refit the steam collector (where fitted).

Before any maintenance or cleaning work, isolate the hood from the electrical supply by pulling out the appliance connector plug, tripping the house installation circuit breaker, or fully unscrewing the screw type fuse from the house installation.

• The extractor hood is not to be cleaned with a steam cleaner.

• Do not use cleaning agents containing alcohol to clean appliances with a matt black finish. These can lead to discolouring.

• Non-compliance with the maintenance and cleaning instructions can result in a fire hazard due to grease deposits.

• The grease filters on your appliance are to be cleaned or replaced at regular intervals. Filters saturated with grease can quickly catch fire and also distribute unpleasant odours.

• When cleaning the area of the control elements, take great care to prevent water entering the electronics.

For appliances with a stainless steel casing: A commercially available non-abrasive stainless steel cleaning agent should be used for cleaning stainless steel surfaces. Treatment with a stainless steel preservative is recommended to prevent surfaces becoming quickly re-soiled. Apply the agent all over and economically using a soft cloth. Never use stainless steel cleaning agents in the vicinity of the control elements.

The frequency of changing grease filters depends on the type:

• Paper grease filters: Change monthly.

• Paper grease filters with alarm: Change every two months or when the colour of the surface becomes visible through the mesh openings.

• Foam grease filters: Soak once a month in warm soapy water for 1 to 2 hours. Do not wring out. Replace the filter with a new item after a maximum of 5-6 washes.

• Metal grease filters: These do not need to be replaced but should be washed once a month by hand or in a dishwasher (60°). Do not use a corrosive rinsing agent. Allow the filter to dry thoroughly before replacing it. Avoid using alkaline dishwasher cleaning agents (pH value over 7).

Carbon filters are used for circulation air mode and are not delivered with the appliance. Maintenance depends on the type:

a) Traditional carbon filters (normally round in shape): These can be neither washed nor regenerated. The charcoal filters have to be replaced regularly, at least every 3 months or earlier, depending on cooking habits.

b) Washable and regeneratable carbon filters (normally square in shape): These are to be washed once a month in a dishwasher, using a standard rinsing agent and with the intensive rinsing program at the highest temperature. They should be washed separately to avoid food residue deposits. After washing, reactivate the filter by drying it in an oven for 10 minutes at 100°C. These filters last for a maximum of 3 years when cleaned monthly and should then be replaced.

If the documentation for the RESPEKTA CH 22010-90 WB does not include an instruction for replacing LED lamps, the lamp must be replaced by the customer service for safety reasons. When changing a lamp, make sure that the new lamp does not have a higher wattage than that of the original.

The minimum distance from the lower edge of the hood body is:

• to ceramic and cast cooking hobs: 65 cm

• to gas hob: 70 cm

• to hobs with coal/oil/wood firing: 85 cm

• The exhaust air line should be as short and straight as possible.

• To avoid excessive noise or a reduced extraction capacity, the diameter of the exhaust air pipeline should not be less than 120 mm.

• Use or form only large radius bends. Small radius bends reduce the extraction capacity of the hood.

• Use only smooth pipelines or flexible hoses of non-flammable materials for the exhaust air pipeline.

• If the exhaust air pipeline is horizontally routed, there must be a minimum gradient of 1 cm per metre or an inclination angle of 2° to prevent condensation water from running into the motor.

Charcoal filters are for recirculated air and are not included in the delivery. When attached, the suction power will be lowered.

To access the motor:

1. Lift the front glass panel (A).

2. Remove the metal filter (B).

Mounting of the charcoal filters:

Bring the filters (A) with both hands to the side of the motor (B) and secure them by firmly turning clockwise.

Remove the charcoal filters:

Turn them counter-clockwise.

The charcoal filters should be changed every three or six months depending on your cooking habit.

If the mains lead is fitted with a BS 1363A 13 amp fused plug, use an A.S.T.A. approved fuse to BS 1362 type and proceed as follows:

1. Remove the fuse cover (A)

2. Remove the fuse (B)

3. Fit replacement fuse into plug

4. Refit the fuse cover

The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:

• BLUE: “NEUTRAL” (N)

• BROWN: “LIVE” (L)

• YELLOW & GREEN: “EARTH” (E)

1. The YELLOW & GREEN wire must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E, or by the Earth symbol, or coloured green or yellow & green.

2. The BLUE wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.

3. The BROWN wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.

Also check if the exhaust air pipeline is blocked or too small (should be 120mm) and if the grease/carbon filters need cleaning or replacing.
