The WEEE symbol on the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE, its accessories, or literature indicates that the product and its electronic accessories (e.g., remote handset) should not be disposed of with other household waste at the end of their working life. To prevent possible harm to the environment or human health from uncontrolled waste disposal, please separate these items from other types of household waste and recycle them responsibly to promote the sustainable reuse of material resources.

The package for the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE typically includes:

NOTE: Additional items (optional) may be included into the package, depending on player configuration, region, and distributor.

If your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE is hidden behind equipment or in a closed cabinet, you can use the provided IR extender. Connect it to the IR IN port on the back panel of the player to maintain remote control functionality.

When using the remote control, the front window of the remote control should be pointed to the infrared sensor on the front panel of the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE within an angle of ±60° and a range of about 26 ft (8m).

Please use alkaline batteries and observe polarity when inserting them.

To connect your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE directly to your TV or projector:

1. Connect the main HDMI output of the player to a free HDMI input on your TV or projector.

2. For audio, you can use an audio analog amplifier. Connect the player’s Analog Outputs to the amplifier’s inputs using an RCA cable.

Note: If you get a blue screen, it is because you are using the HDMI Audio Only port instead of the main HDMI port for the video connection to the TV.

1. Connect the main HDMI output of your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE to a free HDMI input on your AV receiver or soundbar.

2. Connect the HDMI output of your AV receiver to your TV or front projector.

3. If your TV is compatible with 4K HDR, your AV receiver must also be compatible with the 4K HDR format. If not, you must use the HDMI Audio Only output as explained in the next procedure.

If you get a black border issue all around your TV screen, please go to the settings of your TV and set the correct aspect ratio option in order to remove the black border. This is often called the “Fit to Screen” option.

If your AV receiver does not support 4K HDR, use the dual HDMI output feature of the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE:

1. Connect the main HDMI output directly to a 4K HDR compatible HDMI input on your TV or projector for the video signal.

2. Connect the HDMI Audio Only output to an HDMI input on your AV receiver for the audio signal.

Note: If you get a blue screen on your TV, it is because you have connected the HDMI Audio Only port to the TV instead of the main HDMI port.

If your AV receiver is not compatible with HDMI, you can connect your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE using the S/PDIF optical (Toslink) or coaxial outputs. Use either an optical cable or a coaxial cable to connect from the corresponding output on the player to the input on your AV receiver.

To connect wired headphones, use an RCA to 3.5 mm female adapter. Then, connect the RCA connectors to the Analog Audio Output Right / Left on the player.

For the fastest and most stable network connection, using an Ethernet cable is recommended.

1. Plug one end of a network cable (Category 5E or more) into the LAN port on the back of the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE.

2. Plug the other end of the network cable into a LAN port on your broadband router, modem, or network switch.

1. Connect the two antennas to the Wi-Fi connectors located on the back of the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE.

2. Turn on your media player and go to: Setup > Network > Wireless connection (Wi-Fi).

3. Click on Edit settings.

4. Select your wireless network from the list and enter the security password.

1. Make sure to use the HDMI OUT (main) and not the HDMI IN output to connect your player to your TV or video projector.

2. Plug in and turn on the player. The player will go through its initial start-up procedure, which takes less than one minute.

3. You will be taken to a quick setup screen. Follow the steps to set the language, resolution, and network access.

4. After setup, you will see the main screen with access to Video (Media Center), Explorer, Settings, and Android Apps.

If you experience a black screen or no video signal, please consult the R_volution Knowledge Base.

Default Language:

To set the default language for audio tracks and subtitles, go to Settings > Playback and choose your preferred languages.

Audio Settings:

In the Audio section of the Settings menu:

• If using an HDMI compatible multi-channel AV receiver, set the Digital Audio Connector to HDMI (HD Audio On).

• If your amp/preamp is not HDMI compatible, set it to S/PDIF (HD audio off).

• It is recommended to set the Digital audio output mode to Auto. You can also select PCM for formats your receiver cannot decode, or Bitstream to send the raw audio stream to your receiver.

• For lossless music, you can set the Maximum digital output sample rate to 192kHz, but be careful as this may cause crackling if your equipment is incompatible. If this occurs, select the Auto option.

Video Settings:

• It is strongly recommended to leave the resolution settings in Auto mode (in Settings > Video).

• If your TV or projector is compatible, select Y’CbCr 4:4:4 / 10-bit or 12-bit mode for the best video performance. This requires a high-quality HDMI cable.

HDR > SDR Conversion:

To get the best SDR performance on HDR content, go to Settings > Video > HDR and Dolby Vision Settings and select the Dolby VS10 engine for HDR, DV video option. If the picture looks washed out, go to Settings > System > Video > HDMI Range Mode > Full Range.

You can connect your USB drives to one of the available USB ports on the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE.

• For playing video files, USB 2.0 is sufficient and more reliable.

• For transferring files, use the USB 3.1 or USB Type-C ports for higher speed.

A dedicated USB icon on the home page will indicate if the drive is properly connected. Power provided by the USB ports may not be enough for some drives to function correctly. Do not disconnect the USB drive during write (copy/transfer) operations. The player is also compatible with UASP HDD docking stations and USB hubs.

To insert an internal 3.5″ SATA HDD:

1. Open the rack door on the front of the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE.

2. Insert the drive into the internal enclosure until it is about 3/4 of the way in.

3. Complete the installation by closing the door. This action will fully connect the disk into the rack.

The media player is compatible with drives formatted in FAT16/FAT32, EXT2/EXT3/EXT4, NTFS, exFAT, BTRFS (all read-write), and HFS/HFS+ (read-only). You can format your hard drive via Explorer by pressing Menu / Format.

Insert a memory card into the memory card slot located on the left side of the media player. It will be detected as a USB device, and a USB icon will appear on the home page. Some SD memory cards may not be recognized or may work incorrectly; in such cases, please try using a different model of memory card.

To start using the R_video app on your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE, you must create an account and register your device.

1. Connect your media player to the Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

2. Launch the R_video app and select your language.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions. If you do not have an R_volution account, click on Create an account now.

4. You will be prompted to enter your R_volution Token number, which is printed on a sticker under the housing of the media player. You only need to enter it once.

Accessing Network Drives from the Player:

The R VOLUTION PLAYERONE has a Samba (SMB) client to explore and play media from your local network (NAS, computers, etc.).

Accessing the Player from a Computer:

The SMB Server is activated by default. You can access your media player from a computer by entering `\\R_VOLUTION` in your computer’s file explorer, or by using the player’s IP address (e.g., `\\192.168.1.15`). Enter `guest` as the login and password. To find the player’s IP address, go to SETTINGS / Ethernet Configuration on the player.

File Organization:

• Movies: On your NAS or HDD, create a folder named `MOVIES`. Place all your movie files in it. Name the files with the movie title (e.g., `Metropolis.mkv`).

• TV Shows: Create a folder named `TV SHOWS`. Inside, create a subfolder for each TV show. Name your episode files as “TVShowName s01e01” (e.g., season 1, episode 1). Special episodes should be named “s00e01”.

Connection Setup:

1. Start your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE and click the VIDEO button on the main page.

2. Choose your language and enter your login details. If you don’t have an account, create one first.

3. Click the Connection button at the bottom of the window.

4. On the Folder configuration window, click Add a folder containing movies (or TV Shows).

5. If your files are on a local storage (internal or USB HDD), click Local drives. If you want to share content with other R_volution players, click R_share.

6. Browse to and enter your `MOVIES` (or `TV SHOWS`) folder.

7. Click the Add this folder button at the top of the window. WARNING: Only add the main `MOVIES` or `TV SHOWS` folder, not the subfolders within them.

8. Press the RETURN button on your remote. R_video will begin to scan and analyze your video content. Once done, your collection will be ready.

If you get a wrong storage ID with “00000000”, it means that R_video cannot write on the drive due to a defective disk sector. You should format the drive again to resolve this issue.

Identify a Movie:

When you add a movie file to your Movies folder, R_video automatically indexes it. To force the identification process manually, press the MENU button on your remote control, then click on the Identify option.

Delete a Movie:

When you delete a movie file from your ‘Movies’ folder on the storage drive, R_video automatically removes its cover during the next analysis. To manually remove a movie from the R_video interface, highlight the movie, press the MENU button, and select the Delete option from the contextual menu.

1. On the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE, press the MENU button on the remote control and select X to Identify. This will show a list of unidentified files.

2. Click on a file and then click the Identify… button.

3. Re-enter the movie name in the search field.

4. Alternatively, you can use the TMDB ID code for a 100% match. Find the movie or TV show on the TMDB website and locate the ID number in the URL (e.g., for “themoviedb.org/movie/4808-charade”, the ID is “4808”). Enter this ID number in the search field instead of the title.

To change the poster or background of a movie or TV show on your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE:

1. Select the movie or TV show.

2. Press the MENU button on your remote control.

3. Select the Change the picture option using the OK button.

4. Click on the poster or background of your choice to apply it.

To use the parental control feature on your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE:

1. Select a movie or a group of movies.

2. Press the MENU button on the remote control.

3. Click on Allow for children.

4. Enter a 4-digit pin code. This code will be required to lock your collection and restrict access to movies not tagged as “Allowed for children”.

To sort and filter your movies on the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE:

1. Press the MENU button, then go to Filter and sort.

2. To change the sorting order, click the first item and select from options like: A to Z, Z to A, Release date, Ranking, Duration, Addition…

3. To filter your movies, you can select the options for Seen, Ongoing, or Not seen.

During video playback on your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE:

1. Press the Subtitle button on the remote control.

2. Go to Settings.

3. To change the vertical position, use the UP / DOWN buttons.

4. To change the size, use the P+ / P- buttons.

5. To change the color, use the number buttons 1-6.

To add an external subtitle file, ensure it has the same name as the video file (e.g., `Metropolis.mkv` and `Metropolis.srt`).

When you encounter the message “Account / token already used” on your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE, you need to release the token in order to use it. If you are not able to do it by yourself, contact customer support by sending a photo of the sticker under the media player with the token number, and it will be released for you.

Usually, the R VOLUTION PLAYERONE will inform you at startup if a new firmware is available. To manually check for an update:

1. Go to Setup > Miscellaneous > Firmware Upgrade.

2. You will see the current firmware version. Click on Check Available Update.

3. If a new version is available, you will be able to download and install it.

To manually upgrade the firmware using a USB flash drive, please visit the R_volution Knowledge Base.

DISCLAIMER: In some cases during the update process, the TV screen may switch to GREEN or BLACK for a while. This is normal. Do not restart or switch off your player during the full process. In such a case, please wait 10 minutes before restarting your media player.

If you are experiencing problems with your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE, first try turning it OFF and unplugging the power cable for 10 minutes. If that doesn’t solve the problem, you can perform a factory reset. This will reset all your settings and account information but will not delete your movie collection.

1. Go to Setup > General.

2. Click the Reset Settings button, then click on Reset settings to confirm.

3. Please wait during the reset process.

Warning! Do not restart or switch off your player during the full process.

If you do not get any video signal from your R VOLUTION PLAYERONE, you can boot into the Recovery menu by performing a hardware reset:

1. Start the media player.

2. During the power-on process, press and hold the Reset button located on the back of the media player using a paper clip.

3. When the Recovery menu appears, select the option to “Wipe data”.
