Please adhere to the following safety warnings when using your PUQ PRESS MINI:

• Ensure you have fully read and understood the instructions in this document before you install or use the PUQpress. Keep this document for future reference.

• Only use the PUQpress as described in this document.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

• Never let children play with the PUQpress. Not doing so may result in the PUQpress getting damaged.

• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

• Never immerge cables, plugs or the PUQpress itself into water or other liquids to avoid electric shock, or injury.

• Always switch off the PUQpress before performing maintenance or cleaning on the PUQpress to avoid electric shock, or injury.

• Always remove the plug from the outlet before performing maintenance or cleaning on the PUQpress to avoid electric shock, or injury.

• Always unplug the PUQpress from the power source and other equipment if problems occur to avoid electric shock, or injury.

• Never use the PUQpress if the PUQpress, cable or plug is damaged. Any required repairs may only be conducted by authorized service personnel.

• Never make any modifications or alterations to the PUQpress.

• Never drop the PUQpress and avoid bumping.

• Never unplug the PUQpress by pulling the cable. Always grasp the plug and pull.

• Always place the PUQpress on a level, vibration-free surface.

• Never operate the PUQpress in moist or wet conditions.

• Make sure the portafilter (group handle) does not wiggle after adjusting.

• Make sure not to use a damp/wet cloth to clean the tamper base. Grounded coffee will stick to the tamper base.

• Never install the PUQpress in an area where a water jet can be used.

• Never clean the PUQpress with a jet of water or a steam cleaner.

Please follow these safety cautions for your PUQ PRESS MINI:

• Always adjust the lower clamp before use. Not doing so results in exposure of dangerous moving parts.

• Never insert your hand (or other limbs) in between the PUQpress base and lower clamp. Risk to pinch.

The main parts of the PUQ PRESS MINI are:

To adjust the lower clamp on your PUQ PRESS MINI, follow these steps:

1. Slightly loosen the bolts of the lower clamp. Use the provided T-wrench.

2. Mini: Pull down the lower clamp.

3. Insert the portafilter between the upper and lower clamp.

4. Mini: Move up the lower clamp.

5. Slightly fasten the bolts of the lower clamp. Use the provided T-wrench. Make sure not to fasten the bolts entirely.

6. Remove the portafilter.

7. Fasten the bolts of the lower clamp with the T-wrench.

8. Insert the portafilter between the upper and lower clamp and check if the portafilter slides in easily.

9. If the portafilter slides in too easily, start again at step 2.

Make sure the portafilter does not wiggle after adjusting.

To switch on your PUQ PRESS MINI:

1. Plug the power cable into the PUQpress.

2. Plug the other side of the power cable into a socket or (wall) outlet.

3. Switch on the PUQpress by setting the on/off switch to I.

1. Level the grounded coffee in the portafilter.

2. Insert the portafilter between the upper and lower clamp.

3. The PUQpress automatically starts tamping the coffee. The contactless sensor detects the metal portafilter.

4. Wait until the PUQpress has tamped the coffee.

5. Remove the portafilter after a full cycle of approximately 1.5 seconds.

Adjust the tamping force by using the display and the buttons:

1. Press the plus button to increase the force.

2. Press the minus button to decrease the force.

The force is displayed in kilograms (kg) or pounds (lbs).

1. Press and hold the set button for 5 seconds.

2. Use the plus and minus button to adjust the setting.

3. Choose between the following settings for the PUQ PRESS MINI:

4. Press the set button to confirm the setting.

1. When the PUQpress is not in use, press and hold the plus and minus button for 3 seconds.

2. The display flashes a number for 5 seconds. Multiply this number by 5,000 to get the tamping cycle count.

1. Press the set button.

2. Press and hold the plus and minus button for 3 seconds when the PUQpress is in clean modus.

3. The display flashes a number for 5 seconds. Multiply this number by 20 to get the cleaning cycle count.

1. Switch off the PUQpress by setting the on/off switch to O.

2. Unplug the power cable out of the socket or (wall) outlet.

3. Unplug the power cable out of the PUQpress.

Clean the housing of the PUQpress with a damp cloth. Refer to the table for an overview of the cleaning intervals.

Clean the tamper base regularly:

1. Press the set button. The tamper base moves down in the cleaning position.

2. Remove the lid of the PUQpress.

3. Unscrew the tamper base bolt by turning the Allen key counter-clockwise.

4. Remove the bolt.

5. Unscrew the tamper base by turning it clockwise.

6. Use a brush or dry cloth to clean the tamper base and cavity.

7. Screw the tamper base back by turning it counter-clockwise.

8. Place the bolt.

9. Screw the bolt back by turning the Allen key clockwise.

10. Place the lid of the PUQpress.

11. Press the set button again. The tamper base moves upwards to the original position.

If you have a new espresso machine with a different tamper diameter, you may need a new tamping base and upper clamp.

There are two types of upper clamps available. Which clamp you should use depends on the diameter of the tamper base:

• Upper clamp 1: 53 – 55 mm

• Upper clamp 2: 56 – 59 mm

If the filter basket diameter of your new espresso machine falls within the other range as the one your PUQpress is suitable for, both the upper clamp and the tamper base need to be changed. If it falls within the same range, only the tamper base needs to be changed.

If the tamper base is greasy or dirty, clean the tamper base. If the tamper base is wet, dry the tamper base.

If your PUQ PRESS MINI does not start, check the following:

• The power cable is not inserted in the PUQpress. -> Plug the power cable into the PUQpress.

• The power cable is not plugged into the socket or (wall) outlet. -> Plug the power cable into the socket or (wall) outlet.

• The power cable is not correctly plugged into the socket or (wall) outlet. -> Unplug the power cable and correctly plug the power cable into the socket or (wall) outlet.

• The socket or (wall) outlet is not functioning. -> Unplug the power cable and try another socket or (wall) outlet.

This issue occurs because the sensor does not detect a portafilter because the portafilter is not inserted completely. To fix this, re-adjust the lower clamp.

There are two possible causes for uneven tamping:

1. The coffee grounds are not leveled before using the PUQpress. To fix this, level the ground coffee in the portafilter before tamping.

2. The portafilter does not fit snugly/wiggles during tamping. To fix this, re-adjust the lower clamp.

If tamping does not start while the PUQpress is on and the display is working, the contactless sensor is faulty. You will need to contact the distributor to replace the contactless sensor.

If the drive unit makes unusual noises, it indicates that the drive unit (electro motor and gears) is worn out. You should contact the distributor to replace the drive unit. Specify the amount of tamping cycles the drive unit has performed. This information helps the distributor determine if the replacement is covered by warranty or is considered maintenance.
