To replace the battery in the RKE transmitter:

1. Separate the transmitter using a flat, thin non-metal object or tape-wrapped metal object.
2. Remove the module.
3. Open the module cover.
4. Remove the old battery.
5. Insert the new battery, positive (+) side facing up. Replace with a CR2025 or equivalent battery.
6. Snap the module back together and replace it in the transmitter.
7. Snap the front and back of the transmitter together.

Note: When replacing the battery, do not touch any of the circuitry on the transmitter. Static from your body could damage the transmitter.

Manual Door Locks:

• To lock and unlock your vehicle from the outside, use your key or the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter.
• Open the driver door, on vehicles with power door locks, by turning the key in the lock toward the rear of the vehicle.
• Turn the key back toward the center and toward the rear again, within three seconds, to unlock all of the doors. Use the key in the passenger door to also unlock all of the doors.
• Lock a door by turning the key toward the front of the vehicle. If you have power door locks, all the doors will lock.
• To manually lock or unlock the door from the inside, move the lever on the door forward or rearward. The driver and front passenger door open from the inside while locked.
• With manual locks, the key must be used to lock and unlock the liftgate.

Power Door Locks:

On vehicles with this feature, the power door lock switch is located on the armrest of the driver and front passenger door.

• Press the lock symbol to lock all the doors.
• Press the unlock symbol to unlock all the doors.

Safety Locks:

Rear door security locks prevent passengers from opening the rear doors from the inside.

1. Open the rear doors to access the security locks.
2. To set these locks, slide the lever down on each door and close it. The doors can only be opened from outside with the door unlocked.
3. To return the doors to normal operation, slide the lever up.

Manual Windows: Turn the crank on the door to open and close a manual window.

Power Windows:

• On vehicles with this feature, the power windows only work when the ignition is turned to ON/RUN or in Retained Accessory Power (RAP).
• Switches on the driver door control the driver and passenger windows. Each passenger door has a switch to control that window.
• Press or pull the front of a switch to lower or raise a window.
• AUTO (Express-Down): Press all the way down and release to lower the driver window automatically. Pull up at any time to stop the window from lowering.
• Lock-Out: Press the lock-out button, located on the driver door, to disable the passenger power windows and again to enable them. Only the driver window can be operated when the lock-out feature is used.

Seat Position:

1. Lift the bar located under the front of the seat to unlock it.
2. Slide the seat to the desired position and release the bar.
3. Try to move the seat to be sure it is locked in place.

Seat Height Adjustment: The driver seat height adjuster is located on the outboard side of the seat. To raise or lower the seat, pull up or push down on the lever repeatedly until the seat is at the desired height.

Reclining Seatbacks:

1. Lift the recline lever located on the outboard side of the seat.
2. Move the seatback to the desired position, then release the lever to lock the seatback in place.
3. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked.

To return the seatback to an upright position, lift the lever fully without applying pressure to the seatback, and the seatback will return to the upright position. Push and pull on the seatback to make sure it is locked.

You can fold either side of the seatback down.

1. Move the front seat forward and the seatback to the upright position.
2. Move the headrests all the way down.
3. Pull up on the lock release knob, located on the top outboard side of the seatback.
4. Fold the seatback down.

To raise the seatback:

1. Pull the seatback up and push it back to lock it into place. The safety belts should not be twisted or caught in the seatback.
2. Push and pull the top of the seatback to check that it is locked into position.

Using the cargo cover:

1. Remove the cargo cover from its storage location.
2. Unfold the cargo cover.
3. Attach the hooks to the indented slots on the sides of the rear cargo area.
4. Attach the center hook to the center head restraint.

Folding the Cargo Cover:

1. Hold the cargo cover with both hands.
2. Bend one side of the cover toward the body.
3. Twist the other side in the opposite direction.
4. Make a small circle, and then fold the cover inward.
5. Make sure the cover’s three circles are side by side.
6. Return the cover to its storage bag.

A tilt and telescope wheel lets the steering wheel position be adjusted. The adjustment lever is located on the left side of the steering column.

1. Pull the lever down to move the steering wheel up or down and in or out.
2. Pull the lever up to lock the steering wheel in place.

Do not adjust the tilt and telescope lever while driving.

The windshield wiper/washer lever is located on the right side of the steering column. Move the lever to one of the following positions:

• Mist: Move the lever to mist, for a single wiping cycle and then release. The wipers stop after one wipe.
• Off: Turns the wipers off.
• Intermittent: Move the lever to choose a delayed wiping cycle. For vehicles with the variable intermittent feature, turn the band for a longer or shorter delay interval.
• Low: Slow wipes.
• High: Fast wipes.

Windshield Washer: Pull the lever toward you to spray washer fluid on the windshield. The spray continues until the lever is released. The wipers will run a few times.

Rear Window Wiper/Washer:

• Turn the end of the lever to low or high to turn on the rear window wiper.
• Turn the end of the lever up or down as far as it will go to spray washer fluid on the rear window.

1. Turn the ignition key to ACC/ACCESSORY or ON/RUN.
2. Press the PWR VOL (Power/Volume) knob to turn on the radio.
3. Press the CLOCK button, and the HR, MIN, MM, DD, YYYY (hour, minute, month, day, and year) categories display.
4. Press the button under the category to be adjusted.
5. To increase the time or date, do one of the following: turn the TUNE ADJ (Tune/Adjust) knob clockwise, press SEEK/TRACK up arrow, press FWD (Forward), or continue to press the button under the category to be adjusted.
6. To decrease the time or date, do one of the following: turn the TUNE ADJ knob counterclockwise, press SEEK/TRACK down arrow, or press REV (Reverse).
7. To save the settings, press the CLOCK button, or let the display time out.

Fan Control: Turn the center knob toward 4 to turn the system on or increase fan speed.

Temperature Control: Turn the right knob clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the temperature inside the vehicle.

Air Delivery Mode Control: Turn the left knob to select from the following modes:

• Vent: Air is directed to the upper instrument panel outlets.
• Bi-Level: Air is directed to the upper instrument panel outlets and the floor outlets.
• Floor: Air is directed to the floor and side window outlets.
• Defog: Air is directed between the windshield, side windows, instrument panel outlets and the floor outlets.
• Defrost: Air is directed to the windshield, instrument panel outlets and the side windows.

Air Conditioning: Press A/C to turn the air conditioning system on or off. Press A/C and recirculation buttons at the same time to select MAX A/C.

Recirculation: Press the recirculation button to turn the recirculation mode on or off. This mode recirculates the air inside the vehicle.

Rear Window Defogger: Press the rear defogger button to turn the rear window defogger on or off. It stays on for 15 minutes.

If your vehicle’s battery has run down, follow these steps to use another vehicle and jumper cables to start it:

1. Check the other vehicle. It must have a 12-volt battery with a negative ground system.
2. Get the vehicles close enough so the jumper cables can reach, but ensure they do not touch.
3. Turn off the ignition on both vehicles. Unplug unnecessary accessories. Turn off the radio and all lamps.
4. Open the hoods and locate the batteries. Find the positive (+) and negative (−) terminal locations.
5. Check that jumper cables do not have loose or missing insulation.
6. Connect the red positive (+) cable to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery. (Use remote positive terminal if available).
7. Connect the other end of the positive cable to the positive (+) terminal of the good battery.
8. For the 1.8L engine, remove the engine cover to access the remote negative terminal. Connect the black negative (−) cable to the negative terminal of the good battery.
9. Connect the other end of the negative (−) cable to a heavy, unpainted metal engine part or remote negative terminal on the vehicle with the dead battery, at least 18 inches away from the battery.
10. Start the vehicle with the good battery and run the engine for a while.
11. Try to start the vehicle that had the dead battery.
12. Disconnect the jumper cables in reverse order:
    • Disconnect the black negative (−) cable from the vehicle that had the dead battery.
    • Disconnect the black negative (−) cable from the vehicle with the good battery.
    • Disconnect the red positive (+) cable from the vehicle with the good battery.
    • Disconnect the red positive (+) cable from the other vehicle.

Removing the Spare Tire and Tools:

1. Turn the two lock knobs on the cargo area floor to UNLOCK.
2. Lift up and remove both of the cargo area floors.
3. Remove the hook holding the jack and remove the jack.
4. Remove the jack handle and wheel wrench from the passenger side of the cargo area.
5. Remove the tire/wheel retainer from the compact spare tire and remove the tire.

Removing the Flat Tire and Installing the Spare Tire:

1. Do a safety check (level ground, parking brake set, hazard flashers on).
2. If equipped with steel wheels and plastic covers, loosen the plastic nuts with the wrench. Remove the wheel cover.
3. Attach the jack handle to the jack and turn clockwise to raise the lift head a little.
4. Loosen all the wheel nuts. Do not remove them yet.
5. Position the jack and raise the jack lift head to fit over the car flange between the two notches.
6. Turn the jack handle clockwise to raise the vehicle far enough off the ground for the spare tire to fit.
7. Remove the wheel nuts and the flat tire.
8. Install the spare tire.
9. Remove any rust or dirt from the wheel bolts, mounting surfaces, and spare wheel.
10. Place the compact spare tire on the wheel-mounting surface.
11. Reinstall the wheel nuts with the rounded end toward the wheel. Tighten by hand.
12. Turn the jack handle counterclockwise to lower the jack completely.
13. Tighten the wheel nuts firmly in a crisscross sequence.

1. Turn off the engine and give the oil several minutes to drain back into the oil pan.
2. Pull out the dipstick (yellow loop handle) and clean it with a paper towel or cloth.
3. Push it back in all the way.
4. Remove it again, keeping the tip down, and check the level.
5. If the oil is below the indent at the tip of the dipstick, add at least one liter/quart of the recommended oil.

Note: The oil level should be somewhere in the proper operating range. Push the dipstick all the way back in when finished.

To replace the High-beam or Low-beam Headlamp:

1. Open the hood.
2. Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise and pull it out of the headlamp assembly.
3. Unplug the connector while pressing down on the release tab.
4. Pull the old bulb straight out.
5. Push the new bulb straight in until it clicks.
6. Push the bulb socket into the headlamp assembly and turn it clockwise to secure it in its original location.

Replacement Bulbs:

• High-beam Headlamps: 9005
• Low-beam Headlamps: 9006

The cruise control lever is located on the right side of the steering wheel.

Setting Cruise Control:

1. Press the ON-OFF button at the end of the lever. The CRUISE light on the instrument panel will come on.
2. Get to the desired speed (must be 25 mph or more).
3. Move the lever down to −SET and release it.
4. Take your foot off the accelerator pedal.

Resuming a Set Speed: If the vehicle speed is 25 mph or greater, push the lever up to +RES (Resume/Accelerate) to return to the previously set speed.

Increasing Speed: Move the cruise lever up to +RES and hold until desired speed is reached, or move up briefly to increase in small amounts.

Decreasing Speed: Push and hold the lever to −SET until desired lower speed is reached, or push down briefly to decrease in small amounts.

Ending Cruise Control: Step on the brake/clutch pedal, press the ON-OFF button, or pull the lever toward you.
