What does the ‘Power Ready’ LED on the PLANET IPOE-162S indicate?

The green ‘Power Ready’ LED on the PLANET IPOE-162S lights up to indicate that the port is receiving 48~56V DC in-line power and is ready for output.

What are the selectable DC power output options for the PLANET IPOE-162S?

The PLANET IPOE-162S provides two kinds of DC power output, which can be selected using its DIP switch. The options are:

• 12V DC/2A

• 24V DC/1A

What important precautions should I take before connecting a device to the PLANET IPOE-162S?

Please observe the following precautions carefully:

1. Check the power requirements of the device that will receive power from the IPOE-162S. If the power requirement is higher than what the IPOE-162S can supply, a current overload might shut down the IPOE-162S itself, which will also shut down your device.

2. Ensure the output voltage is correct for the remote device. An incorrect voltage setting will damage your remote device.

3. Do not switch the Power DIP switch on or off during operation. Doing so will damage your IPOE-162S and the connected remote device.

How do I safely change the output voltage DIP switch on the PLANET IPOE-162S?

If you want to switch the output Voltage DIP, you must first unplug the “PoE In” cable and wait for 3 seconds until the PoE LED (Power) is completely OFF. It is forbidden to switch the DIP during operation as it will cause damage.

What is the layout of the 4-pin power output terminal block on the PLANET IPOE-162S?

The 4-pin power output terminal block has two sets of DC power output contacts. From top to bottom, the pins are arranged as follows:

• Negative (V-)

• Negative (V-)

• Positive (V+)

• Positive (V+)

What is the total power output limitation when connecting two devices to the PLANET IPOE-162S?

The two DC outputs share a total of 25W of PoE output power (either 12V 2A or 24V 1A). This means that the combined power draw from both outputs (DC1 + DC2) cannot exceed 25W. Exceeding this limit might cause the power output to malfunction or be damaged.

How do I wire the power outputs on the PLANET IPOE-162S?

Please follow the steps below to insert the power wires. The wire gauge for the terminal block should be in the range of 12 ~ 24 AWG.

Step 1: Locate the removable 4-pin terminal block connector for the DC power outputs.

Step 2: Insert the Negative/Positive DC wires into the V-/V+ terminals. Use terminals 1 (V-) and 3 (V+) for Power 1, and terminals 2 (V-) and 4 (V+) for Power 2.

Step 3: Connect the other end of the DC power wires to your power devices. Tighten the wire-clamp screws on the terminal block to prevent the wires from loosening.

Step 4: Install the terminal block back onto the PLANET IPOE-162S Splitter.

Is grounding required for the PLANET IPOE-162S?

Yes, users MUST complete grounding wired with the device. Failure to do so could result in fatal damage to the device from a sudden lightning strike.

How do I connect the PLANET IPOE-162S to the network and power a non-PoE device?

Connect a network copper cable (RJ45) from your PoE+ Injector or Switch (PSE) to the “PoE (Power + Data)” input port on the PLANET IPOE-162S. The splitter will then separate the power and data. The power is provided through the DC terminal block to your powered device(s), and the data is provided through the “Data” Out Port to your non-PoE device.
