To ensure safe driving while using the PIONEER AVH-120BT, follow these precautions:

The PIONEER AVH-120BT has a parking brake interlock system to prevent dangerous or unlawful use of certain functions while driving, such as viewing video images. This system senses when the parking brake is set and the vehicle is moving.

If you attempt to use these functions while driving, they will be disabled. To enable them, you must stop the vehicle in a safe place and perform the following sequence:

1. Apply the parking brake.

2. Release the parking brake.

To protect the LCD panel and screen of your PIONEER AVH-120BT, follow these guidelines:

• Do not expose the LCD screen to direct sunlight when the product is not in use. This can cause malfunction due to high temperatures.

• When using a cellular phone, keep its antenna away from the LCD screen to prevent video disruption (spots, colored stripes, etc.).

• To prevent damage, touch the touch panel keys only with your finger and do so gently.

You should reset the microprocessor on the PIONEER AVH-120BT under the following conditions:

• Prior to using the product for the first time after installation.

• If the product fails to operate properly.

• If there appear to be problems with the system’s operation.

To reset:

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Press the RESET button with a pen tip or other pointed tool.

The settings and recorded contents will be reset to factory settings. Note that some settings may not be reset.

CAUTION: Do not perform this operation when a device is connected to the product.

To establish a Bluetooth connection with your PIONEER AVH-120BT, follow these steps:

1. Turn on the Bluetooth function on your device.

2. Press the HOME button on the PIONEER AVH-120BT.

3. Touch the Settings icon, then the Bluetooth icon. The Bluetooth menu screen appears.

4. Touch [Connection].

5. Touch the search icon (magnifying glass). The unit will search for available devices and display them in a list.

6. Touch the name of your Bluetooth device in the list. Once successfully registered, a connection is established.

NOTES:

• If three devices are already paired, [Memory Full] is displayed. You will need to delete a paired device first.

• If your device supports SSP (Secure Simple Pairing), a six-digit number will appear on the display. Touch [Yes] to pair the device.

To make a hands-free phone call with your PIONEER AVH-120BT after connecting your phone via Bluetooth:

1. Press the HOME button, then touch the phone icon.

2. Touch one of the call icons on the phone menu screen to choose a dialing method:

• Preset dial list: Touch a preset contact to call.

• Phone book: Select a contact from the phone book, then select the phone number to call.

• Call history: Make a call from the received, dialed, or missed call lists.

• Direct phone number input: Enter the phone number using the number keys and touch the call icon.

You can store up to six phone numbers per device as presets on the PIONEER AVH-120BT.

Registering a phone number:

1. Press the HOME button, then touch the phone icon.

2. On the [Phone Book] screen, touch the desired name to display the contact’s phone number.

3. Touch the “add to presets” icon.

Before using the Bluetooth audio player, ensure your device is registered and connected to the PIONEER AVH-120BT. To play audio:

1. Press the HOME button.

3. Touch [AV Source Settings].

4. Confirm that [Bluetooth Audio] is turned on.

5. Press the HOME button.

6. Touch [Bluetooth Audio]. The Bluetooth audio playback screen appears and playback begins.

The BSM (best stations memory) function on the PIONEER AVH-120BT automatically stores the six strongest broadcast frequencies on the preset channel keys [1] to [6].

1. On the Radio screen, touch the BSM icon to begin the search.

2. While searching, the six strongest broadcast frequencies will be stored under the preset channel keys in order of their signal strength.

To cancel the storage process, touch [Cancel].

NOTES: Storing frequencies with BSM may replace ones you have already saved. Previously stored frequencies may remain if the number of stored frequencies has not reached the limit.

To access the Radio settings for your PIONEER AVH-120BT:

1. Press the HOME button.

2. Touch the Settings icon, then the wrench icon.

3. Touch [AV Source Settings].

4. Touch [Radio settings].

In the System Settings menu of your PIONEER AVH-120BT, you can configure the following camera settings. A separately sold rear view camera is required.

• Rear view camera: The unit automatically switches to the full-screen image of the rear view camera when the shift lever is in the REVERSE (R) position.

• Camera for Camera View mode: You can display the camera image at any time by touching [Camera View] on the AV source selection screen.

If you feel the touch panel keys on the screen deviate from the actual positions, you can adjust the response positions on your PIONEER AVH-120BT. This setting is available only when your vehicle is stopped in a safe place with the parking brake applied.

1. In the System Settings menu, touch [Touch Panel Calibration] and then touch [Yes].

2. Touch the four corners of the screen along the arrows.

3. Press the return arrow. The adjustment results are saved.

4. Press the return arrow once again to proceed to 16-point adjustment.

5. Gently touch the center of the [+] mark displayed on the screen.

6. Press and hold the return arrow. The adjustment results are saved.

You can adjust the picture for each source and the rear view camera on the PIONEER AVH-120BT. For safety reasons, this function is only available when the vehicle is stopped with the parking brake applied.

In the [Picture Adjustment] menu, you can adjust the following items:

• Phase: Switches the subwoofer phase between normal and reverse position.

• LPF: Switches the LPF setting to [On] or [Off].

You can set parental lock restrictions on the PIONEER AVH-120BT for DVD playback. To set the level:

1. In the DVD Setup menu, select [Parental].

2. Touch [0] to [9] to input a four-digit code number, then touch the enter arrow.

3. Touch any number between [1] to [8] to select the desired restriction level. The lower the level, the tighter the restriction.

4. Touch the enter arrow to set the parental lock level.

It is recommended to keep a record of your code number. The parental lock level is recorded on the disc itself, and this feature may not work with discs that do not have a recorded parental lock level.

You can register up to 12 favorite menu items as shortcuts on your PIONEER AVH-120BT for quick access.

Creating a shortcut:

1. Press the HOME button, then touch the Settings icon.

2. In the menu list, touch the star icon of the menu item you want to add. The star icon for the selected menu will be filled in.

1. During playback, touch the screen display mode key (e.g., [Full]).

2. Touch the desired mode:

• [Full]: Displays 16:9 images on the full screen without changing the ratio. Images other than 16:9 may be stretched.

• [Zoom]: Enlarges and displays images vertically.

• [Normal]: Displays images without changing the 4:3 aspect ratio.

• [Trimming]: (For image files only) Displays an image across the entire screen with its horizontal-to-vertical ratio left as is. The image may be partly cut off if the screen ratio differs.

If the screen is black and touch controls are not responsive, the PIONEER AVH-120BT is likely in Power off mode. Press any button on the product to release the mode and turn the screen back on.

If your PIONEER AVH-120BT is not playing a CD or DVD, check the following possible causes:

• The disc is inserted upside down. Insert the disc with the label facing upward.

• The disc is dirty. Clean the disc.

• The disc is cracked or damaged. Insert a normal, round disc.

• The files on the disc are in an irregular format. Check the file format.

• The disc format cannot be played back. Replace the disc with a compatible format.

• The loaded disc is a type this product cannot play. Check the type of disc to ensure it is supported.

If you see a caution message and cannot view video, it is due to a safety feature. Check the following:

• The parking brake lead is not connected or the parking brake is not applied. For safety, video can only be viewed when the vehicle is parked. Connect the parking brake lead correctly and apply the parking brake.

• The parking brake interlock is activated. Park your vehicle in a safe place and apply the parking brake to view the video.

If you do not see a back camera image when in reverse, check the following:

• The back camera input setting is Off. Change the back camera setting to On in the System Settings menu.

• The camera input may be loose or not connected. Check the connection to ensure the male end of the camera is connected to the brown input on the back of the receiver.

• The reverse lead on the receiver is not connected properly. Check that the violet/white lead of the receiver is connected to the lead whose voltage changes when the shift lever is put in reverse.

If an error message appears on your PIONEER AVH-120BT, refer to the following:

• AMP Error: This indicates the product has failed to operate or the speaker connection is incorrect, and the protective circuit is activated. Check the speaker connection. If the message persists after turning the engine off and on, contact your dealer or an authorized Pioneer Service Station.

• TEMP: The temperature of the product is outside the normal operating range. Wait until the product returns to a normal operating temperature.
