The PETROMAX BK1 Hobo Stove is a practical and efficient seven-part stove designed for cooking on the go. The gaps in its side panels and grate provide an optimal air supply for the fire. Thanks to a stack effect, the stove efficiently burns fuel and generates high temperatures on a small surface, allowing for quick cooking with minimal effort.

Please follow these safety instructions when using your PETROMAX BK1 Hobo Stove:

• Only use the Hobo Stove outdoors. Do not use it indoors due to fire hazard and the danger of suffocation.

• Comply with all local fire safety regulations.

• Keep the stove out of reach of children and animals, and never leave it unattended when in use.

• When starting a fire outdoors, be considerate of plant and animal life and nature reserves. Maintain a minimum distance of 50 meters from woods and areas with dense vegetation.

• Keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from flammable materials when using the stove. Do not use the Hobo Stove on a table.

• Create a fire-resistant environment by clearing away flammable materials such as leaves or dry grass. Place the PETROMAX BK1 on a level, steady surface before lighting a fire.

• To start the fire, only use branches, barks, and wood that have already fallen from trees. Leave living trees untouched.

• If you use a commercially available grill or fire lighter, follow the instructions on its packaging.

• Never pour flammable fluids into the Hobo Stove.

• Never use fluids like petrol, turpentine, or methylated spirit to start or restart the fire. These substances can explode and are often toxic and harmful to the environment.

• Do not move the Hobo Stove when it is in use or hot.

• Wear appropriate clothing when using the stove. Avoid long, loose sleeves, as they can easily catch fire.

• Ensure you have sand, water, a fire extinguisher, or a fire blanket nearby to extinguish the fire in an emergency.

• Allow the Hobo Stove to cool down completely after use.

• Do not remove hot ashes. Wait until they are cold, then dispose of them properly. Never throw hot ashes into household waste.

The PETROMAX BK1 Hobo Stove includes the following components:

Follow these steps to assemble your PETROMAX BK1:

1. Hang the side panels (2.) on the back panel (5.) and slightly pull the side panels outwards.

2. Join the grate (4.) to the back panel (5.). You have two options for positioning the grate:

a) If you want to burn natural materials, place the grate at the bottom. This creates a spacious combustion chamber.

b) To light the Hobo Stove with dry fuel tablets, tealights, or a spirit stove, choose the upper position for the grate. Lift the grate (4.) and put the side panels (2.) together using the provided slots.

3. Now hang the front panel (1.) to the side panels (2.).

4. Finally, insert the struts (3.) into the slots of the side panels (2.). The Hobo Stove is now assembled and ready for use.

5. Light a fire in the Hobo Stove. As soon as the fire is burning properly, you can start cooking.

• Place the PETROMAX BK1 on a level and steady surface before starting a fire. If the surface is uneven, you can secure the stove with two traditional tent pegs on the sides.

• Before starting a fire, ensure the area is fireproof. Remove all flammable materials like leaves or dry grass. Make sure the stove does not sink into the ground, as it only works efficiently when enough air can be drawn in through the sides and the grate.

• To fan the fire, blow steadily on the embers through the gaps. Do not blow too strongly to avoid the risk of flying sparks.

• If you need to move the PETROMAX BK1 safely while it is hot, lift it by the oblong sides. Always wear heat-resistant gloves.

• Ensure the Hobo Stove is straight so that the cooking container cannot slip down.

• While cooking, you can add wood through the opening on the front panel without lifting the cooking container. However, this only works when the grate is in the lower position.

• As an alternative, you can also heat the stove with dry fuel tablets, tealights, or a commercially available compact spirit stove. For this, place the grate in the upper position so that the heat of the flames is close to the cookware.

• Once you have finished cooking, you can extinguish the fire in the PETROMAX BK1 with water or let it burn down on its own.

• Do not remove the ashes until they have completely cooled down. Dispose of the ashes properly.

• Disassemble the Hobo Stove, clean each piece separately, and store them in the pouch.

• Dispose of any combustion residues and leave the area where you used the stove in its original state.
