How do I install the PEERLESS ACC170 on a wood joist or wood stud ceiling?
To install the PEERLESS ACC170 on a wood joist or wood stud ceiling, follow these steps:
Step 1. Use a stud finder to locate the edges of the wood joist. Mark the center line of the joist on the ceiling.
Step 2. Place the ceiling plate (A) on the ceiling, aligning the mounting holes over the center line.
Step 3. Mark the center of the four mounting holes.
Step 4. Drill four 3/16″ (5 mm) diameter holes that are 2.5″ (64 mm) deep.
Step 5. Attach the ceiling plate (A) to the ceiling using four 5/16″ x 3″ lag bolts (E) and four 5/16″ washers (F). Do not overtighten the lag bolts.

To install the PEERLESS ACC170 on a concrete ceiling, follow this procedure:
Step 1. Place the ceiling plate (A) on the ceiling in the desired mounting location.
Step 2. Mark the center of the four mounting holes.
Step 3. Drill four 3/8″ (10 mm) diameter holes that are 2.5″ (64 mm) deep.
Step 4. Insert four concrete anchors (G) into the holes until they are flush with the ceiling surface.
Step 5. Attach the ceiling plate (A) to the ceiling using four 5/16″ x 3″ lag bolts (E) and four 5/16″ washers (F). Do not overtighten the lag bolts.
How do I attach an extension column to the PEERLESS ACC170 ceiling plate?
Follow these steps to attach an extension column (not included) to your PEERLESS ACC170:
Step 1. Thread the extension column into the ceiling plate (A).
Step 2. Run the safety cable (B) through the extension column.
Step 3. Tighten the column until it is snug.
Step 4. Back off the column until the cable holes in the column and the ceiling plate align.
Step 5. Install the M8 x 12 hex head screw (D) through the eyelet of the safety cable (B) and into the ceiling plate (A) and column.
Step 6. Tighten the hex head screw (D).
Step 7. Install the two M8 x 12mm set screws (C) and tighten them with the provided 5mm hex wrench.
Step 8. Run the safety cable (B) to the mount and attach as described in the mount instructions.
